Ex-NFL star Akbar Gbajabiamila brutally loses TV job after only one season on Good Morning Football

Daily Mail11-05-2025

Former defensive end Akbar Gbajabiamila is reportedly leaving 'Good Morning Football' after just one season on the flagship morning show of NFL Network.
The former Raiders, Chargers and Dolphins star, 46, spent seven years with NFL Network between 2012 and 2019 before joining 'The Talk' on CBS.
Gbajabiamila returned to covering football in the fall of 2024, as part of major changes to the NFL Network cast. He was brought in to replace Jason McCourty.
But Gbajabiamila last appeared on GMFB on February 14. Since then, a rotating cast of guests has taken his place on the show.
And, according to Deadline, the 46-year-old will not be returning. Gbajabiamila still hosts 'American Ninja Warrior' on NBC.
He returned to NFL Network after GMFB moved its primary studio from New York to Los Angeles, with Manti Te'o among the new faces to appear in recent months.
NFL Network recently lost Peter Schrager, too. He joined ESPN, where he will appear regularly on shows including 'First Take' and 'The Pat McAfee Show'.
Gbajabiamila gave no indication that he was leaving on his now-farewell appearance a few days after the Super Bowl.
'This was my first season, and it was such a cool experience to be able to go through this entire process and now to get to this point and get the week off,' he said.
'I'm going to Florida too with (Schrager). But I'm only going to be there for a couple of days, and I'm going to hop over to the Bahamas. But, it's been real.'

Gayle King makes shock revelation about her dating life a year after denying rumors about her and Oprah

Now that Gayle King has made it back from space she is ready to tackle an even more mysterious frontier: dating. The 70-year old American TV personality (typically known for being Oprah Winfrey's right-hand woman) recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight to reaffirm something she has said in interviews before - she is interested in dating someone younger. At a launch party for Hoda Kotb 's new venture Joy 101, King was asked about whether or not she believes in finding love for herself, to which she said she does. She then went on to ask the interviewer, 'Why, you got somebody for me?' The interviewer, an ET reporter, said that she could find someone for her. 'I am alert and available!' King chimed in. When asked what she was looking for, King responded, 'The same thing you want... the same thing you got!' The interviewer then asked King to address a rumor that she liked younger men. King adamantly agreed, saying, 'Well, I've always said that.' 'I just don't want someone young enough I could've given birth to,' she clarified. 'But I'm not mad at younger. I'm not a cougar, but yeah. I just say this... you stay open to all possibilities.' One possibility that King fervently shut down though was the one of her and longtime best friend and cohost Oprah Winfrey dating. For years, the public speculated whether the two were romantically linked, but in July 2024 they finally addressed the rumors head on. 'For years people used to say we were gay,' Oprah said in an interview her and King had with Melinda Gates. 'We were up against that for forever. People still think that.' King even admitted that it affected her dating life. 'I used to say, "You've got to do a show on this because it's hard enough for me to get a date on Saturday night with people thinking we're gay,"' King said. But dating younger men? That's something she has confirmed about herself before. In 2024, after making the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, King went on the Tamron Hall show and talked about wanting a younger man. But just like this time, she clarified that she didn't want someone 'too' young. Regarding a potential partner's age, she said, 'Would like it to start with a five, and I don't wanna be a nurse or a purse. I don't want that.' 'I [would] like it that they have all of their teeth. That would be nice,' she continued. 'Because it's not really about money, guys. It's about somebody who has their own business, their own thing. 'They're very confident in their own skin. You know, I remember once being told by my ex, 'I'll be tired when this Gayle King s**t is over.' 'So you want somebody who celebrates you, who is excited for you, who is very comfortable in their own skin. And that is very difficult. 'But no pity party for me. I'm really okay.' King was married to William Bumpus for 11 years before getting divorced in 1993. Since then, the only time she was romantically linked to someone else was to Senator Cory Booker in 2006, but even then nothing was confirmed.

NFL quarterback breaks silence after Donald Trump rally appearance sparked furious fan backlash

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph has broken his silence after he appeared on stage at a rally for Donald Trump last month, stating he has no regrets because 'speech is free'. Rudolph was part of the Pittsburgh contingent to join Trump on stage last Friday, giving him a personalized Steelers jersey, alongside safety Miles Killebrew, and four-time Super Bowl champion Rocky Bleier. Days later, Rudolph had the chance to speak out about the appearance after many on social media showed their displeasure for his choice. 'There's backlash on social media. That's the nature of social media. It's the nature of why America's so great because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and speech is free,' Rudolph said. Rudolph being kind to Trump after his appearance at a rally for the president could be a response for the Commander in Chief giving the 29-year-old his stamp of approval. 'I happen to think a really good quarterback is a man named Mason Rudolph,' Trump said. 'I think he's gonna get a big shot. He's tall, he's handsome, he's got a great arm. And I have a feeling he's gonna be the guy.' Rudolph has had an up-and-down professional career since entering the league in 2018, now in his second stint with the Steelers after a turbulent stay from 2018 through 2023. Trump's prediction could be bad news for free agent Aaron Rodgers, as the Steelers looked like the best option left in the league for him to join. The Steelers only have Rudolph and Will Howard on their roster after letting Russell Wilson and Justin Fields walk this offseason. The 41-year-old Rodgers would bring a veteran presence to the locker room, with the team still leaving him unsigned nearly three months after the possibility first arose of bringing him in. Rodgers looked to have plenty of options months ago for where he could possibly land as a free agent, including the Vikings, Giants, and Colts. Every team that could have needed a short-term answer at quarterback with Rodgers fitting the bill, except the Steelers, made a definitive move to sign another signal caller. The Steelers may be in less of a win-now mode than in seasons' past, with their trade of star wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys as evidence. Head coach Mike Tomlin may want to develop a younger quarterback like Rudolph instead of a flyer on Rodgers to have postseason success in 2025.

Britney Spears fans blast singer for charging over $1,000 for Balenciaga merch collab: 'We can't afford this!'

Britney Spears is under fire from fans after teaming up with Balenciaga for an expensive merchandise collab. The pop star, 43, joined forces with the controversial fashion house to release a line of Britney branded T-shirts, hoodies, and caps. While fans were excited to get a new project from the reclusive hitmaker, most baulked when they saw the eye-watering price tags. The cheapest piece of clothing in the collection is a $795 'shrunken' T-shirt, but buyers need to fork out $1,050 for the oversized version. Caps start at $725 through to $1,250, while a black hoodie is $1,650. Fans didn't hold back about the pricey products on social media, with one writing, 'The way this new Britney merch is mostly over $1k. 'Britney Nerds aren't buying the new merch that's $40 let alone that much.' Another wrote, 'New Britney merch is $1000... yeah no f**k off.' A third added, 'These prices are actually gross. You can tell her team are beyond desperate to make money as she won't work. No offence but no one is going to spend that much on Britney merch.' Others felt like that designs simply didn't justify the hefty cost. 'This disappointed me. You can get these T-shirts at the flea market. I expected more effort from this brand,' wrote one. 'Most probably I'll buy it on Temu,' wrote another. The collection, designed by Balenciaga's Demna Gvasalia, includes archival images of Britney - snapped by Steven Klein and Rankin. According to Balenciaga's website, the 'Britney Spears series celebrates a global cultural icon who shaped the sound and style of pop music.' 'Comprising a limited-edition series of ready to wear and accessories, an exclusive playlist curated by Britney Spears, and two remixes of her most iconic works by BFRND.' The cheapest piece of clothing in the collection is a $795 'shrunken' T-shirt, but buyers need to fork out $1,050 for the oversized version The ready-to-wear collection dropped on Tuesday, June 3 globally, along with a Spotify playlist said to be curated by Britney herself. Britney said in a statement, via People: 'I have always loved fashion and was so honored and excited Balenciaga and Demna chose to collaborate with me on Demna's last collection with the House.' She added, 'I hope my fans love it as much as I do! These are some of my favorite images from such an amazing time in my career and life, and I'm so excited to share it with everyone.' Demna is set to leave Balenciaga to serve as creative director for Gucci next month. Outside of the release of her blockbuster memoir The Woman In Me in 2023, Britney hasn't been very active. Her last music release was the collaboration Mind Your Business, which was released in 2023 but had been recorded several years earlier. However, there is some hope that Britney's ready to return to work. On May 16, the Grammy winner's attorney Peter Nussbaum filed a trademark application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for her first-ever jewelry brand, B. Tiny - according to the website. Britney created the line through her limited liability company Baby One More Mark, LLC, and her completed application is currently pending approval from an assigned examiner. Spears teased a glimpse of a new white flower choker while aboard a JSX private plane from Cabo San Lucas to LA where she got into trouble for lighting up a cigarette. 'You guys like my flower choker?' the semi-retired pop star asked her 42 million Instagram followers. 'B. Tiny is coming soon and that's something we have added! It's honestly adorable!' Britney first announced B. Tiny on November 3 and she shared a video of her right hand wearing a blue gemstone hand chain. 'My first jewelry line coming soon! Delicate, extremely different, and one-of-a-kind pieces!' Spears revealed. 'I'm so excited! Realizing how cool it is to be an artist that can be passionate in so many different ways! B. Tiny coming soon! Girls you're gonna f***ing love it!' The Hold Me Closer hitmaker is also said to be very hands on with her fully-authorized biopic for Universal Pictures, which is still in the developmental stage.
