Outlander star Sam Heughan to make stage comeback in Macbeth
Heughan will appear alongside Lia Williams, star of The Crown, His Dark Materials and the Missing, in what is being described as "an intimate and compelling" RSC production.
The show, which will be directed by Daniel Raggett, will get a two-month run at the RSC's 200-seater venue, The Other Place, in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Heughan, who started filming Outlander in 2013, will be following in the footsteps of fellow Scots Alan Cumming, David Tennant, James McAvoy and Reuben Joseph, who have both played the role in recent years.
Heughan, who will be appearing in Macbeth from October 9-December 6, has spoken previously of his admiration for McAvoy's theatre performances.

Other actors who have starred in previous RSC productions of Macbeth include Ralph Richadson, Laurence Olivier, Ian McKellen, Bob Peck, Derek Jacobi, Anthony Sher and Greg Hicks.
Heughan, who was born in Balmacellan, in Dumfries and Galloway, moved to Edinburgh when he was 12 and joined the youth theatre group run by the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh before securing a place at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
He was still studying when he landed a lead role in the David Greig play Outlying Islands which won a Herald Angel Award at the 2002 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Heughan was nominated for the most promising newcomer honour at the Olivier Awards after the play transferred to the Royal Court Theatre in London.
Heughan would go on to make theatre appearances across the UK over the next decade, including playing the role of Malcolm in Macbeth at the Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh, as well as productions of Hamlet, and Romeo and Juliet.
Heughan had his first major TV role in 2004 when he appeared in the mini-series Island at War and had a recurring role in the BBC soap Doctors for 21 episodes.
However he was a relative unknown until 2013, when he was cast as Jamie Fraser in the Sony-Starz adaptation of American author Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books.
Heughan and co-star Caitriona Balfa recently finished filming their final scenes for the eighth and last series of the show.
Speaking previously to The Cultural Coven podcast, Heughan spoke of his passion for Shakespeare's work and his ambitions to return to the theatre.
He said at the time: 'Jamie Fraser has obviously been brilliant and I've been doing a number of film roles to try to play other parts, but they've all been primarily in the same sort of realm.
'I'd love to have a real acting challenge - I think that's where you get to really stretch yourself.
'Outlander has been so unique. My character has been a young warrior, who has become a laird, a father, a husband and a grandfather now, he's been in battles, he's been abused... I've had so much to play.
'But of course we all get burn-out and want to do different things.
'I'd love to go back to theatre. I have been talking to various people.
'It's about scheduling and that's kind of tough right now with the film schedule I've got, but in the future, I'd love to.
'For me, it's always been about Shakespeare. I'd love to do Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and Macbeth.'
In a separate interview with the Square Mile podcast, Heughan said: 'I started in theatre, I'd love to go back to theatre.
'I recently saw James McAvoy in Cyrano and he was brilliant. I know James from drama school and he was my mentor. I saw him onstage at drama school and to see him there is kind of an amazing journey. I feel like I've got it in me as well.'

Netflix star suffers 'mangled' injury that left him needing surgery
Skins star Sebastian de Souza - who has also appeared in shows like Normal People and more recently the Netflix film the Life List - has shared that he needed surgery last month An actor who rose to fame on Skins before starring in international projects for the likes of Netflix has announced that he needed surgery after sustaining an injury recently. He has now told fans that he spent two weeks in hospital. Sebastian de Souza, 32 - who is best known for playing Matty Levan on the E4 show - has shared that he fractured part of his leg after falling off a bike in London. He revealed on Instagram last week that he needed an operation on his "mangled knee" at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. His post included photos, including several of Sebastian - who recently starred in Netflix's the Life List - lying in a hospital bed. He's seen with a bandaging on his left leg in several photos and appeared to sport a cast at one point. Sebastian, who showcased a shorter hairstyle in some selfies that were included in the post, wrote in the caption: "New Hair! New Normal! Dear Souzles, forgive the radio silence! Three weeks ago I broke my leg falling off my bike." Sebastian continued: "Some very, very kind people (the first of thousands of kind people who have gone out of their way to help me recently - you know who you are and I will never be able to repay you) got me to St Mary's Hospital Paddington, where I was whisked through the extraordinary A&E department by the gorgeous paramedics, doctors, nurses, domestic and administrative staff, all of whom made to feel so welcome and comfortable and safe." He then said that it turned out he had a tibial plateau fracture, which is understood to be a break in the upper part of the shin bone, and "needed an operation". He however said that his "mangled knee" wasn't as bad as some other patient's injuries so he had to wait for the procedure. Sebastian said: "St Mary's is one of the best trauma centres on planet earth and so, naturally, there were lots of poor people with injuries far graver than mine queuing up for operations that needed doing quickly, which meant my mangled knee would have to wait a little bit before getting patched up." He continued by saying that he spent time on wards at the hospital whilst waiting for surgery. The actor - whose credits include shows like Medici: The Magnificent, Normal People and the Great - described that two week period as the "most wonderful, inspiring, insightful, love-filled fortnight". Sebastian added: "I have never been treated with such kindness, care, respect, sensitivity and love. Nor have I ever seen such professionalism and compassion shown so consistently by anyone to everyone, ever. During my two weeks with you I witnessed selflessness and charity and generosity of spirit the like of which one never sees these days. Behaviour rarer than magic." In the caption of his post, he continued: "Thank God for @nhsengland @nhsenglandldn . As far as I'm concerned the NHS is the greatest institution ever invented and should be supported, protected and celebrated at all costs. Forever." Sebastian concluded by apologising for his "lengthy message" and said that he just wanted to say the "biggest thank you imaginable" to the staff at St Mary's Hospital. He added: "And an equally massive thank you to my incredible family and extraordinary friends - the most remarkable, steadfast, loyal and supportive on Earth - for helping me crutch my way through this fascinating new chapter!"

We've got a Nintendo Switch 2 console - here's when to expect our review
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Nintendo Switch 2 consoles are just now arriving with press but it's going to be a long time before there are any full reviews. The Nintendo Switch 2 is out on Thursday, June 5 but as you'll have noticed, nowhere on the internet has any reviews of either the games or the console itself. We have new hands-on previews of Mario Kart World and Welcome Tour but those are based on preview events from a couple of weeks ago. Nevertheless, we now finally have an actual Switch 2 console of our own, so we'll be able to work on some actual reviews. The console turned up this afternoon, as you can see below, along with the official camera, the new pro controller, and a physical copy of Mario Kart World. That's all that was in the parcel that arrived, but Nintendo has promised to send download codes for Welcome Tour and the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and Tears Of The Kingdom on Thursday. There's no point asking why it's being done like this, because it's Nintendo, but they've clearly told third party publishers to follow the same pattern, as we're not getting those download codes until later today or Thursday. As far as we know this is the same situation for all outlets, so that's going to have a big impact on when reviews start to appear. The wider problem here is that it's not-E3 week. To what degree Nintendo was aware of that before they picked the launch date it's hard to say, but they themselves have not yet announced a Nintendo Direct, even though they've always previously had one in early or mid-June. They are an official partner of Summer Game Fest on Friday though, so they can't pretend they didn't know about that. But it's not just Summer Game Fest. Tonight there's Sony's new State of Play, IO Interactive has an event at 2am on Saturday revealing their new James Bond game, and then there's the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday evening. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. And that's just the big ones, there's also Day of the Devs and Devolver Digital on Friday, Future Games Show Summer Showcase on Saturday, PC Gaming Show on Sunday, and literally many more. All the smaller events must surely know they'll get little to no coverage, especially this week, but that's the situation. We'll do everything we can to give equal coverage to everything (we hear on the grapevine that there are some major announcements coming for Summer Game Fest and the State of Play) and that is going to further impact our Switch 2 coverage. One of us will do an all-nighter tonight, to try and get a review in progress ready for Mario Kart World on Thursday, but it's going to be next week until there's a scored review for anything, or any kind of formal review of the console itself. More Trending As we said on Tuesday, we don't think Nintendo is purposefully trying to hide anything with all this. Instead, it seems to be an unfortunate mix of bad timing and Nintendo's usual overcautiousness, in this regarding day one patches (which we assume relate to online play, when it comes to Mario Kart). That said, there certainly are some puzzling aspects to Mario Kart World, in regard to the lack of integration between the open world and the rest of the game, that perhaps Nintendo were keen not to have discussed until the last moment. Ultimately, this all comes down to the publishers' longstanding inability to use a calendar sensibly (never mind release dates, why was the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct the same day Trump's tariffs were announced?) or to accept that they are not the only company in the games industry. Although we've rarely seen those deficiencies cause such turmoil as this before. On Thursday, ordinary people will be receiving their Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders and the internet will be awash with first impressions and, no doubt, false information. Just be cautious and recognise that no one at the moment has spent any significant amount of time with the Switch 2 and so it's far too early to draw a definitive conclusion about it or its games.
