Exit story for EastEnders' Bernie ‘confirmed' as The Six is revisited

Metro21-06-2025
The Six may be quietly continuing with their lives after getting away with Keanu Taylor's (Danny Walters) murder in EastEnders, but their crime is set to be revisited as the soap builds towards Bernie Taylor's (Clair Norris) forthcoming exit.
Back in September, café worker Bernie found out that Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) killed her brother in the Queen Vic on Christmas Day 2023, with Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth), Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and Sharon Watts (Letita Dean) all helping her to cover it up.
While Bernie has been distressed by the truth, she has so far kept quiet about what she knows, while the rest of Walford still believe deceased villain Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) killed Keanu.
After Nish died in January, a shock twist also saw Bernie become a trustee of Nish's businesses until his grandchildren Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) and Nugget Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) are old enough to take over.
It was recently confirmed that actress Clair Norris, who has played Bernie since 2017, will be leaving EastEnders later this year, and upcoming scenes see her exit storyline kick off.
Next week begins with fresh fear for The Six, as Linda's son Johnny Carter's (Charlie Suff) relationship with Bernie's cousin Felix Baker (Matthew James Morrison) continues to blossom.
Felix is keen for Bernie to give Johnny her seal of approval, unaware that he helped The Six cover up Keanu's murder.
Denise fears that if Johnny doesn't win Bernie over, it could bring the past back to haunt them all.
As the week goes on, however, it starts to look like Bernie is plotting something.
When Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) is brought in to check the Panesar business accounts, she notices some strange invoices, which, when raised with Bernie, she quickly dismisses.
After Vicki tries and fails to broach the subject with Bernie again, her partner Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) suggests speaking to Ravi Gualti (Aaron Thiara) directly.
When she does, Ravi knows nothing about the suspicious invoices, and he and Suki go to confront Bernie about the irregularities.
Has Bernie been fiddling the accounts? And what consequences might she face?

Earlier this month, Clair teased that her exit as Bernie will be 'very dramatic', telling Metro on the red carpet of the British Soap Awards: 'It's exciting. It's an exciting time. Also very dramatic. You'll have to stay tuned.' More Trending
Reflecting on her experience as part of The Six storyline, Clair added: 'I absolutely loved doing that storyline. I loved working with the Six, they're amazing women. I definitely had to up my game when I was working with them.
'The scenes were amazing and it was nice to be given that storyline. Especially when the Taylors had left, it was nice to be given something that was dramatic. I absolutely, still to this day, love those scenes.'

Aaron calls killer John out over his lies in heated Emmerdale showdown

John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth)'s manipulative ways in Emmerdale have backfired spectacularly. Trying to turn everyone against his rival Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), John engineered a situation where Robert became angry with his nephew Harry, and used this to turn Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) against him. He then goaded Robert about what had happened until Robert was in despair. Aaron (Danny Miller) heard Robert smashing up his room and went to investigate, and as he comforted an absolutely broken Robert the two men gave into the feelings that they still have for each other and ended up sleeping together. Obviously it's the last thing John would have wanted, but he was busy getting some bad news elsewhere. The police had discovered that the evidence against Owen, the man John framed for the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) was shaky at best. So from thinking he was nicely in the clear for that killing, John is once again worried that someone will finally link him to Nate's death. In upcoming episodes, Robert feels that he and Aaron have turned a corner and are meant to be together once again. Aaron, however, is full of guilt that he betrayed his husband John. He confides in Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb), who is annoyed by what he hears. Wracked with guilt, Aaron starts to think that leaving the village could be the only way he can remove himself from the temptation of Robert and make a proper go of things with John. This idea suits John very well. With the police having found an inconsistency with Owen's 'suicide note' – the document John wrote while he waited for Owen to die of a drugs overdose – the pressure is getting to be too much. There's some respite, however, when the removal man who came to take Nate's stuff away apparently confirms that Owen was the one who paid him to do the job, and Cain (Jeff Hordley) is satisfied that Owen is the man who killed his son. In the wake of this, Robert starts to think that perhaps he was wrong to be suspicious of John. But soon after that another villager finds a clue that raises disturbing questions. More Trending John has offered Mackenzie a lift in his van, and Mack finds something very suspicious in the vehicle. This leads to deadly danger for him as John realises he can't let Mack tell anyone else about his suspicions. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Netflix thriller hailed 'pure greatness' confirms season 2 after weeks in top 10

It's been months of waiting but we finally have confirmation that Dept Q will be back for season 2. Netflix's Scotland-set crime thriller proved a hit with subscribers, spending six weeks in the streaming platform's global top 10, with numerous gushing reactions online describing the drama as 'pure greatness'. Starring Matthew Goode as the rumpled detective Carl Morck, Dept Q was stuffed with twists, red herrings and complex characters, many of whom will be back for the second outing of the show. The second season, which will again be filmed and set in Edinburgh, will see Goode return alongside Morck's team of misfits – Alexej Manvelov as Syrian refugee and former police officer Akram, Leah Byrne as Rose and Jamie Sives as Hardy. The nine-part show saw Morck squirrelled away in a basement police department, combing over cold cases. When Akram chanced upon the file involving the disappearance of an ambitious young prosecutor Merritt Lingard (Chloe Pirrie) on a ferry trip four years ago, they set about cracking it. Goode also thanked Netflix in his statement, saying: 'We have a wonderful cast and crew, headed by our resident genius Scott Frank. I cannot wait to read what comes from his magic quill!' Frank said he was inspired by his love of crime dramas like Line of Duty to use the long-untouched rights after owning them for 15 years. Senior TV Reporter Rebecca Cook shares her take on Netflix's show… Setting a dusty cold case file in front of a crack team of sleuths is definitely not reinventing the TV wheel. Making the detective in charge of said team the most disliked man in the police precinct is also nothing new. But Dept Q is further proof that when it comes to bad-tempered, trauma-laden crime shows, the limit does not exist. This one benefits from a violently unhinged baddie, who it's impossible to look away from. The Slow Horses comparison is apt. They're dud spies, these are dud coppers. Unfortunately, Dept Q doesn't quite reach the levels of The Thick of It comedy found in Slough House, but the Department Q gang are a good hang nevertheless. He admitted to Metro: 'The books, you just knew that they could work that way. It took me a while to get to them.' More Trending He added: 'I thought this particular mystery and the situation and context for it was so interesting. I hadn't seen that before. 'But also the potential for these characters. I think they're all really interesting and you could take them in so many different directions and go so far with them. View More » Dept Q is available to stream on Netflix. Got a story?
