Hollyoaks' Kevin Sacre reveals unusual job that's worlds away from Jake Dean role – 15 years after soap exit

The Sun03-05-2025

HOLLYOAKS hunk Kevin Sacre has stunned fans by revealing his unexpected new career - and it's a million miles away from the drama of the Chester village.
Best known for playing troubled heartthrob Jake Dean, Kevin has swapped scripts and scandals for a life that's worlds apart from soapland.

The Hollyoaks actor starred on the Channel 4 soap from 2002 to 2010.
His character Jake Dean experienced an emotional rollercoaster on the show with the death of his wife Becca Hayton, and a sectioning and a period of estrangement from Steph Hayton.
Jake's storylines involved a failed suicide attempt after his wife, Becca, revealed she was pregnant.
Jake also had drinking problems, becoming more aggressive and even caused the death of another villager due to his actions.
The character's exit was due to a major cast cull and character revamp in March 2010.
Since then, the actor has starred in the 2001 film Night & Day and the TV mini series 5 Aside.
But then he decided to leave the acting world behind.
Strictly Come Dancing star Camilla Dallerup, named Sacre Sound Baths by Zenme.
Based in Palm Desert in Los Angeles, their bio reads: "Discover the healing power of sound in our relaxing Sound Baths & let the stress melt away!"
Sound baths are a therapeutic practice that uses instruments like singing bowls, gongs, and chimes to create a soothing, immersive soundscape for relaxation and healing.
Hollyoaks legend hasn't aged a day 20 years after finding fame on the soap
Kevin and Camilla might've had a rocky start - but their love story is straight out of a romcom.
The pair first locked eyes on BBC reality show The Underdog Show back in 2008, where celebs were paired with rescue pups to compete in a Crufts-style contest.
At the time, Kevin joked: 'When she swanned in, I thought she was nice-looking - but she clearly thought a lot of herself.'
Camilla wasn't impressed either.
Soap's most harrowing teen storylines
We take a look at other harrowing teen soap storylines from soaps Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks.
Belle Dingle's schizophrenia in Emmerdale - Belle's (Eden Taylor-Draper) traumatic journey in Emmerdale took a dark turn when, after accidentally killing her best friend Gemma at just 16, her mental health began to spiral.
The storyline, which saw Belle struggling with her grief and guilt, showcased her battle with hearing Gemma's voice inside her head, leading to a dramatic decline in her well-being.
Hannah Ashworth's anorexia in Hollyoaks - Viewers were horrified as they watched Hannah (Emma Rigby), a seemingly innocent teen, spiral into dangerous behavior, starving herself in an attempt to achieve what she thought was the ideal body.
As Hannah's condition worsened, the storyline became more intense, culminating in her being hospitalised for two months as she fought for her life.
Bethany Platt's grooming ordeal in Coronation Street - Vulnerable schoolgirl, played by Lucy Fallon, was at the centre of one of Corrie's darkest storylines to date when she fell under the spell of her older boyfriend and sexual predator.
The controversial scenes saw Nathan groom and manipulate the 16-year-old before coercing her into sleeping with his friends, with one of them raping her.
Whitney Dean's abuse from Tony in EastEnders - Since the age of 12, she had been in a twisted relationship with her stepmum Bianca's boyfriend, Tony King. The predator had groomed young Whit (Shona McGarty), making her believe she was in love and planning to run away with him.
On her 16th birthday, the traumatised teen finally revealed the years of abuse to Bianca. Tony was swiftly sent to prison sentenced for 13 years.
Still nursing a broken heart after her split from fellow dancer Brendan Cole, she admitted: 'He was cute but cocky. The other girls were all over him, but I wasn't interested - he was an actor and I didn't want the drama.'
But that all changed over 'the longest pint of Guinness ever,' when Kevin finally got her number and asked her out.
He shared: 'We chatted for over an hour and had a cheeky snog - after that, we were inseparable. I used to be a bit of a player, but within a week, I knew she was The One.'
Fast forward, and the lovebirds were living together, adopted his champion pup Sven, and tied the knot in a sun-soaked Ibiza wedding just a year after Kevin's romantic Capri proposal.
Camilla - now also a life coach and self-help author - said: 'I totally misjudged him. He wasn't playing games, and I liked that. I tell people not to judge a book by its cover - and then I did!'
In 2014, Camilla and Kevin packed up their lives and swapped the UK spotlight for sunny LA.
Determined to start fresh, the couple reinvented themselves in Hollywood, with Camilla pivoting to wellness guru and motivational speaker, while ex-soap star Kevin tried his hand as an investment advisor.
Camilla said: 'It was a massive leap of faith and a humbling experience after feeling so settled in London.
"But we were done with our old jobs and knew it was time for a change. LA was tough to crack, but once we found our rhythm, it made us stronger than ever.'
Camilla said that they're hoping to adopt a child together.
She told the Sunday People: "Kevin is incredible. We have both forged our own separate paths and I feel very settled now. We left having kids to the universe and it hasn't happened.
"But it wasn't until a couple of years ago that I felt ready. I'd really love to adopt or foster. I've never, ever felt a need to have my own."
Before meeting Kevin, Camilla became the first victim of the " Strictly Curse" after her then fiance Brendan Cole allegedly had a fling with his celeb partner, Natasha Kaplinsky.
The pair denied the affair but a devastated Camilla split from Brendan saying the break-up "was like a mini-death".

Coronation Street hints at shock new story - and Gary will pay

Gary Windass (Mikey North) looks set to be targeted in a new Coronation Street story after Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) swore she would do 'anything to survive'. Lou isn't the most popular person on the cobbles, given that her husband Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) murdered Craig Tinker. So far, Gary is the only person to have really given her the time of day, and she is certainly taking advantage of his kindness. In tonight's episode, he agreed to buy Mick's van from her after learning that she was struggling with money. He also offered her some advice – to pick a side in order to make peace with the rest of the community. When Lou took this a little too literally and turned up at Craig's memorial, Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) was furious – even more so when Gary defended her. Having outstayed her welcome at the memorial, Lou went to visit Mick in prison. More Trending When she got there, she told Mick about Gary's kindness, which only upset him as he accused her of cheating. Though she protested her innocence, she pointed out that since Mick had been behind bars she had been struggling to make ends meet and would do whatever it took to survive. She implied that Mick had no right to argue given that it was his fault they were in this position, and she seemed determined to carry on with whatever she was planning. Shameless star made OBE says Prince of Wales joked about her playing Elizabeth I

Shameless star Anne-Marie Duff said she and the Prince of Wales laughed about her previous role playing Elizabeth I as she was formally made an OBE. Ms Duff, 54, played Fiona Gallagher in Channel 4's Shameless TV show and won a best supporting actress Bafta for her role as Grace Williams in Apple TV's series Bad Sisters. The actor also performed as Elizabeth I in the 2005 to 2006 BBC dramatisation of the monarch's life, titled The Virgin Queen. Discussing that role led William to joke 'this should all be old hat for you, or something' during Wednesday's ceremony at Windsor Castle, Ms Duff said. The actor spoke to the PA news agency inside the Berkshire royal residence after being formally made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to drama. Asked if the event had been as expected having played Elizabeth I, she said: '(Windsor Castle) is like a treasure chest, isn't it? Because every piece of every room is swollen with history and art and value, so it's very specific. 'To be in this environment where people do live and do sit down and have their dinner and all of those things – you know, when you're on location, you don't really have that feeling of something like that, but this is someone's home, which is just extraordinary to me.' The Virgin Queen was not filmed at royal residences for security reasons, she said. Ms Duff lives in north London and has a son with her former husband and Shameless co-star James McAvoy. She said she and the Prince of Wales discussed balancing work and parenting and 'how we're all kind of the same'. Her next guaranteed job is not until 2026 and she said she cannot talk about other projects that may pop up before then. 'There's so much nonsense now, you can't even read scripts now without NDAs (non-disclosure agreements)', she said. 'The streamers are like old Hollywood studios, it's like that, it's so bonkers, so you don't get to sort of enjoy the prelude to things with people – you can't say, oh my god, yeah, I'm going to be doing (this). You have to keep everything on the down-low.' She laughed as she said: 'I would love to tell you, Your Royal Highness, but … ' 'There are snipers everywhere, that's what it feels like, seriously, the walls have ears', she added. Ms Duff said a play would be the 'juiciest' next project for her because she prefers the 'communion with people' in theatre, as well as the immediacy and 'being in charge of the chronology'. She said she discussed her preference for the stage with William. She told PA: 'If a light bulb blows, we still go on. It's all of that and the jeopardy of it – when things go wrong, you become so resourceful and having each other's back as a company.' Asked how she felt after being formally made an OBE, Ms Duff said: 'Fabulous, really lucky. You never imagine that – I think especially for people who work in the arts – you never really have a sense of what you do as having a great deal of importance or being a contribution to anything. 'You're just so busy working away. It feels extraordinary to be recognised.'
