2025 offseason roster profile: T Christian Jones
The Arizona Cardinals are in offseason mode and we are still weeks away from free agency and months from the NFL draft. Over the next little while, we will take a look at each player on the roster or signed to a reserve deal and break down where they stand with the team.
We will look at their 2024 season, their contract status and what their status is for the coming offseason and 2025 season.
Next up is tackle Christian Jones.
2024 Christian Jones stats, season
Jones was a rookie in 2024, drafted in the fifth round out of Texas.
He began the season on injured reserve, missing the first seven games with an ankle injury.
After he was activated, he was inactive as a healthy scratch for the next eight games. He was active for the final two games and started at right tackle in the season finale after tackles Paris Johnson, Jonah Williams and Jackson Barton finished the year on injured reserve.
He played 74 offensive snaps on the season. He was penalized twice but both were either declined or offsetting. He did not allow a sack or a pressure in his limited playing time.
2025 contract status
Jones enters the second year of his rookie contract. He will earn $960,000 in salary and count $1.04 million against the salary cap.
Outlook for 2025
Jones, depending on what happens in free agency and the draft, could be in line to be the Cardinals' backup swing tackle in 2025.
Is he a lock to make the team? Probably not, but if the Cardinals do not re-sign Kelvin Beachum or sign another veteran tackle, we can probably view that as Jones being a possible favorite to make the roster.

Getting Manoah back on the mound should provide them a big boost and provide a bit more consistency in the rotation. Fortunately for them, it seems that he is making good progress in his recovery. Advertisement According to The Athletic's Mitch Bannon, Manoah faced live hitters on Wednesday for the first time since undergoing surgery on his elbow. "Big step as he approaches a late-season return #BlueJays" The Florida native is just three years removed from his All-Star campaign in 2022, when he also finished third in the AL Cy Young Award voting. Cedric Tillman, the next man up on the depth chart, had only 339 receiving yards a year ago. Enter Diontae Johnson, who on Wednesday spoke to the media in an effort to stem a tide of negativity. "I don't want to speak on a lot of stuff," Johnson said. "Everybody's going to have their opinions, you know what I'm saying? So at the end of the day, I'm the only one in that room that really know what's going on. They're entitled to their own opinion, so I can only go off of what I know and then try to go off what I put out there and my best effort. ... Advertisement "Last year is last year. I'm trying to change that narrative and move the right way and keep going." The Browns in late April signed Johnson, 28, to a one-year deal worth the veteran minimum ($1.17 million) that includes no guaranteed money. Johnson said the Browns were the only team that reached out to him in free agency before he signed. That tells a story. Johnson's first five seasons came with the Pittsburgh Steelers (where he had 391 catches for 4,363 yards and 25 touchdowns) before he was traded to the Carolina Panthers last March. That move preceded a subsequent trade to the Baltimore Ravens after seven games. Advertisement He spent four games with the Ravens before being placed on waivers where the Houston Texans claimed him. The Browns originally brought Johnson in for a visit last week and rumors of his intentions to join the team quickly swirled. He's bounced around the league amid behavioral concerns. Is that a "narrative''? Or an issue? "I'm still in that form," said Johnson, a 2019 NFL Draft third-round pick who made the Pro Bowl in 2021. "It's just a matter of whenever I get my opportunities to put it on film."
