Albion Rovers boss compares goal hero to Usain Bolt after comeback win at Gala Fairydean Rovers
Sandy Clark was full of praise for Devan McColl after his contribution in Saturday's success Albion Rovers boss Sandy Clark joked he thought Usain Bolt was involved in Saturday's comeback victory over Gala - after Devan McColl showed blistering pace on his way to bagging the winner. The Coatbridge club fell behind at Cliftonhill to a Lennon Connelly strike inside 18 minutes, but quick-fire goals in the space of two minutes early in the second half turned the game on its head. A Barry Duncan free-kick deflected into the net in 52 minutes to get Rovers on level terms, before McColl broke on the counter attack at speed and unleashed a venomous drive to grab all three points for the hosts. And Clark said McColl reminded him of a certain Olympic champion sprinter. He said: 'It was a great performance from our guys. It took us a bit of time in the first half to get into the game, but that happens to us a lot because we are such a young squad. 'We lost a goal in the first half, but we managed to hang in and had a couple of half decent chances to equalise, just never quite got there. 'In the second half we scored straight from a free-kick from Barry Duncan, which took a bit of a deflection that deceived the goalkeeper. 'After that we got the second goal really quickly. It was a brilliant goal on the counter attack from a corner, thanks to Devan McColl. 'I thought it was Usain Bolt going down the right-hand side when he broke away. 'He really should have squared it into the box from the position he was in, but he elected to shoot and, thankfully, it ended up in the back of the net. 'After that we were comfortable and I feel we should have picked them off for a third goal, but we'll take the win. I was really pleased with the performance.' It was Rovers' second win in four games and saw them bounce back from a tough 4-0 defeat at Tranent the previous week. Clark, whose side are up to seventh in the table, added: 'Tranent are a really good team and we did some good things against them last week. We eliminated a lot of the errors this week and managed to score a couple of goals, that's what football is about. 'There was a brilliant attitude from our young lads and we had great backing from our fans as well, so it was a happy place at full-time.' Rovers now have a double-header coming up over the next week, with a home clash against Thorniewood in the first round of the South Challenge Cup this Saturday, followed by the visit of Broxburn Athletic on league business on Tuesday night.

Christopher Nkunku approves transfer to new club as Chelsea make two demands
Christopher Nkunku has approved a move to Bayern Munich but the Bundesliga champions still face a battle to reach a transfer agreement with Chelsea. Chelsea have put Nkunku up for sale this summer after another underwhelming season for the French forward at Stamford Bridge. Nkunku could blame injuries for his poor first season in the Premier League but that was not a reasonable excuse last term as he scored just three league goals. Much was expected of Nkunku following his £52m move from RB Leipzig in 2023 given he was the top goalscorer in the Bundesliga during his final season in Germany. Nkunku was also named the Bundesliga player of the season earlier in his Leipzig career, but that form has been non-existent in two disappointing years at Stamford Bridge. In The Mixer: Exclusive analysis, FPL tips and transfer talk sent straight to your inbox every week – sign up, it's an open goal. A number of domestic and foreign clubs have expressed interest in signing Nkunku and Chelsea offered the France international back to RB Leipzig during transfer talks for Xavi Simons. But Nkunku rejected a return to his former club due to their absence from this season's Champions League, while Leipzig even had reservations themselves given his inflated salary in west London. Nkunku has no such concerns about a move to Bayern Munich, however, and has indicated he is open and willing to move to the Allianz Arena this summer. The 27-year-old's desire to join Bayern comes as no surprise given their status as one of the biggest clubs in the world. Nkunku agreed to join the German giants back in January but Bayern Munich were unable to reach an agreement with Chelsea over a fee. The Blues were optimistically holding out for £70m at the start of the year but have halved their asking price this summer. Bayern sporting director Max Eberl is said to 'love' Nkunku's versatility but it remains to be seen whether they are willing to meet Chelsea's valuation. Another potential stumbling block is Chelsea's insistence that Nkunku leave on a permanent transfer. RB Leipzig, for example, were keen on a loan deal. Bayern have revived their interest in Nkunku as Kingsley Coman closes in on a lucrative move to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr. Vincent Kompany's side have already spent £65.5m to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool but rejected the chance to sign Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund. More Trending Hojlund has been offered to a number of clubs after United signed Benjamin Sesko as Ruben Amorim's new first-choice striker. The sale of Nkunku will likely clear Chelsea to complete a deal for Netherlands playmaker Simons, who is valued at around £60m by RB Leipzig. Chelsea are also open to offers for Nicolas Jackson following the summer additions of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. Enzo Maresca's side, who won the Club World Cup in the off-season, face London rivals Crystal Palace in their Premier League opener on Sunday. For more stories like this, check our sport page. The 20 top-flight clubs negotiated an additional £65million from shirt producers on top of last season's deals. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up Most of the total — £563million — is going to the ten biggest clubs. Manchester City and Liverpool will both get £100million from their tie-ups with Puma and Adidas respectively. They have overtaken Manchester United after the Red Devils finished 15th last year and failed to get a trophy. The kit deals are separate from the huge amounts paid by sponsors, who can now pay extra to have their logos on sleeves as well as their names emblazoned on the front of the shirt. The most popular maker is the German sportswear giant adidas, which has kit deals with eight Premier League clubs. As well as Liverpool and United, they supply Arsenal, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Fulham and newly-promoted Leeds United. The Leeds deal is worth £5million a year while fellow Premier League new boys Burnley have a £1million agreement with Castore. Sunderland, who won promotion through the play-offs, get the least, with a £500,000 deal with Hummel. Liverpool signed a five-year contract with adidas after switching from Nike. Adidas will give the Reds a flat fee of £30million per season, plus royalties of 20 per cent on all net sales of club merchandise. Forest Green Rovers Unveil World's First Fully Vegan Football Kit & Launch Mental Health Initiative Experts say this will lift their kit earnings to an estimated £100million. Meanwhile Aston Villa announced their first ever deal with adidas last year as Unai Emery's team secured Champions League football. They ended their deal with Castore prematurely after complaints from players that the fabric 'soaked up too much sweat'. 2 Prem clubs raking in the most this season
