Israel Strikes On Iran: Saudi Airports Issue Travel advisory Amid Regional Tensions
According to Saudi Gazette, authorities at major Saudi airports—including King Khalid International Airport (Riyadh), King Abdulaziz (Jeddah), King Fahd (Dammam), and Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz (Madinah)—have urged passengers to check with their airlines before heading to the airport due to regional airspace closures.
'In light of the current developments in some countries in the region, passengers flying to or through affected areas are advised to confirm their flight status to avoid unexpected delays or cancellations,' the airports stated in social media posts.
Following Israel's early morning air raids on Iranian military sites, several Middle Eastern nations closed their airspace, forcing airlines to reroute or cancel flights. This has led to potential delays, longer flight times, and travel disruptions for passengers across the region.
The Kingdom's advisory aims to minimise inconvenience and ensure passenger safety amid shifting aviation conditions caused by the escalating conflict. Earlier, Saudi Arabia strongly condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Iranian territory, calling them a clear violation of Iran's sovereignty and international law.
The Foreign Ministry expressed 'deep concern' over the attacks, urging the UN Security Council to take immediate action to halt the aggression and prevent further escalation.

Lufthansa to Relaunch Riyadh–Munich Route
Lufthansa is set to expand its presence in Saudi Arabia by around 50 per cent with the relaunch of its non-stop Riyadh–Munich service from October 27, 2025. The route, last operated in 2017, will connect the Saudi capital directly to the airline's five-star Skytrax-rated Munich hub, enhancing links to Lufthansa's global network. Operating every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Flight LH641 will depart Riyadh at 6.25 am, arriving in Munich at 10.25 am — offering ideal onward connections to more than 130 destinations across Europe, America, and Asia. The return service will operate on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, departing Munich at 9.45 pm and arriving in Riyadh at 4.50am the following morning. The service will be operated by the Airbus A350-900, seating 293 passengers across Business, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. Economy return fares will start at SR1,495 ($399). This new connection complements Lufthansa's daily Riyadh–Frankfurt service and boosts total Lufthansa Group flights to Saudi Arabia to 25 per week, including operations by ITA Airways and Eurowings. Across the Middle East, the Lufthansa Group now serves the region more than 120 times weekly. The airport itself is a relaxing, convenient, and beautiful gateway, whether travellers are connecting onward or visiting the city and its stunning surrounding region, known for its castles and picturesque lakes near the Alps.' Egypt sets opening of $1 bn Pyramids museum for Nov 1
TDT | Cairo Egypt said yesterday that its much-anticipated new $1-billion archaeological museum near the Pyramids of Giza will officially open on November 1 after several delays. Authorities hope that the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which boasts the treasures of Tutankhamun among its collection of more than 100,000 ancient Egyptian artefacts, will attract visitors from around the world. Official say that at 50 hectares (124 acres), the museum will be the largest in the world dedicated to a single civilisation. Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly told a cabinet meeting that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had approved the new opening date. He said the opening would 'an exceptional event' that would showcase Egypt's cultural heritage and attract visitors from around the world. It had been set for July 3 but was postponed when Israel attacked Iranian nuclear facilities on June 13 sparking a 12-day war that closed airspace across much of the Middle East. The project has faced a series of setbacks, including political unrest and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Authorities anticipate that the museum will draw five million visitors per year in a major boost to the tourism industry, which is a key foreign exchange earner for Egypt.

Saudi Arabia Launches VAT Refund For Tourists
Saudi Arabia has officially begun implementing its value-added tax (VAT) refund program for tourists and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nationals, enabling eligible visitors to reclaim 15% VAT on qualifying purchases through 1,442 authorized retail outlets across the Kingdom, Saudi Gazette has learned. The move is part of the Kingdom's broader efforts to enhance the tourism and shopping experience, increase Saudi Arabia's appeal as a global destination. The VAT refund system is available to non-resident tourists aged 18 and older. To qualify, total purchases must exceed SR500, and the goods must be unused, for personal use only, and exported within 90 days of purchase. Services such as accommodation and meals are excluded, as well as specific items like vehicles, boats, aircraft, food and beverages, tobacco products, and petroleum derivatives. Shoppers can request a VAT exemption form at the point of sale by presenting their passport or GCC ID, and may combine up to three invoices from the same retailer on the same day to reach the eligibility threshold. Upon departure, travelers must validate their tax-free form at one of 18 verification points currently available at three international airports: 10 at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, four at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, and four at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. Refunds can be issued either by card or in cash, with a daily cash refund cap of SR5,000 per person. However, cash refunds are not available at the North Terminal of Jeddah's King Abdulaziz Airport. The VAT refund initiative aims to promote sustainable tourism spending, streamline shopping experiences, and encourage visitors to extend their stays and explore more of Saudi Arabia's retail landscape.
