Will Taylor Swift be the next Super Bowl halftime performer? Here's why fans think so
It's possible the timing could be right for the singer.
In 2022, TMZ reported that sources with direct knowledge said the singer was asked to perform, but "she didn't want to perform until she finished rerecording all of her first six albums." In May, the "Showgirl" announced she had purchased her entire catalog from Shamrock Capital, telling fans all of her music belonged to her.
And now fans think there were clues during her recent appearance on the "New Heights" podcast that pointed toward Miss Americana bringing her 12 eras to Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Feb. 8.
Swift told Jason Kelce that she's "really talking about bread 60% of the time" before diving into the sourdough loaves she bakes and comes up with clever puns for like "Are you bready for it?" or "It's a loaf story, baby just say yeast," connecting her songs to the baked buns.
Turns out the mascot of the 49ers is Sourdough Sam and this year the 49ers stadium will host Super Bowl 60.

When Swift explained her football knowledge prior to dating Travis Kelce, she mentioned the entertainment spectacle: "I've known every halftime show from the Super Bowls, but I didn't watch the sports."
The singer-songwriter plans for events, album releases and Easter egg clues years in advance. Whether Swift hoped to have her rerecords finished by 2026 or buy back her masters, she wore an Erin Andrews jacket to Super Bowl 58 with the number "60" on the back.
Plus, Travis Kelce is about to begin his 13th season in the NFL.
The singer's team did not respond immediately to an email requesting comment.
Last year, Kendrick Lamar was announced as the halftime entertainer in early September.

Taylor Swift Promises Showgirl Will Stay at 12 Songs — & Fans Think She's Addressing Something Bigger
Taylor Swift is putting her foot down on her next era — at least for now. During her New Heights podcast appearance alongside Travis Kelce earlier this week, Swift made a point to clarify that The Life of a Showgirl, her forthcoming 12th studio album, will feature exactly 12 songs. No deluxe edition teased, no bonus tracks hinted at, no endless carousel of vinyl colorways. Just 12. For a star who's been both celebrated and criticized for her multi-edition rollouts, the comment landed with extra weight. On Reddit, fans immediately connected it to backlash Swift has faced in recent years, particularly during The Tortured Poets Department. That album not only arrived as a surprise double release but also came with a flood of vinyl variants — a strategy that drew fire for both its cost to fans and its environmental footprint. More from SheKnows 13 Showgirl-Orange Pieces That'll Get You Ready for Taylor Swift's Latest Album & Era - Starting at Just $10 'I actually believe this on the basis that a lot of this album and its concept seem to be a response to the criticism of TTPD,' one fan wrote. 'Overly verbose, overly long, overly overwrought lyrics on TTPD to a tight 12 track pop album sounds about right.' Another added more bluntly: 'TTPD had way too many songs and all the variants was ridiculous.' The shift isn't just coming from Swift, either. In April 2025 — about a year after the TTPD variant avalanche — Billboard finally stepped in, capping the number of editions that can count toward the charts at four. It was a clear move to stop the cycle of endless covers, bonus tracks, and bundle tricks that made fans feel squeezed and critics cry 'manipulation.' As one fan put it, 'I hope this means the variants that are out now are the only ones, and she took the criticism of 'variant overload' to heart. The planet thanks her.' This isn't the first time Swift's release strategy has been tangled in larger debates. In May 2024, she dropped new editions of TTPD the day before Billie Eilish's latest album, prompting speculation that Swift was responding to Eilish's public critique of wasteful vinyl practices. Whether intentional or not, it solidified Swift's reputation as an artist unafraid to multiply her product lines — much to the dismay of eco-conscious fans. Now, the deliberate simplicity of Showgirl feels pointed. 'Do you guys think she will release a variant every few weeks for the next five months?' one commenter asked. 'I hope she doesn't. That felt very very greedy to me.' Another said they were simply relieved: 'I STILL haven't gotten a hold of everything from TTPD or Midnights. The oversaturation just makes me feel like I'm missing out.' Of course, Swifties are also reading the numbers. Twelve isn't random in Swift's world: it's her 12th album, arriving on October 3, and fans have long pointed out her love of numerology and coded significance. 'This era is filled with her listening to criticism,' a Redditor argued. 'I would put money on her not adding ANY songs to the album. She would not have said that unless she was certain.' Whether The Life of a Showgirl truly stops at 12 tracks remains to be seen. But for now, Swift's bluntness suggests a new kind of restraint — and fans can't help but wonder if the message is as much about the music as it is about the criticism that's followed her. And, if you're looking for signs, it doesn't hurt that her pared-back new era officially arrives on October 3 — a date forever immortalized in Mean Girls. For Swifties, it might just be another wink that she knows exactly what she's doing. Before you go, click to see all of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's cutest PDA moments. The docuseries ‘Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues' isn't bad, except the Tom Brady parts
Well, here's the basic timeline. Appreciated every extraordinary thing he did on the field during his 20 years with the Patriots … recognized he was getting weird on us with stuff like the Alex Guerrero connection, offensively overpriced TB12 gear, and the no-mushroom policy, but hey, his unprecedented late-career excellence made for a heck of a case on his behalf … cringed when the formerly down-to-earth young QB who used to chug beers faster than his linemen started pushing crypto and running with the oligarch class… watched almost every broadcast of his rookie season as Fox's lead NFL analyst last fall, eventually concluding that the reason he didn't show much personality is that it might not be there to show … But the tipping point that brought on the aforementioned realization was Brady's behavior in his version of a current trend among the rich, famous, and presumably bored — buying an English soccer team, and making a documentary about it in which the star is the rescuing hero. Advertisement 'Built in Birmingham: Brady & the Blues' is a five-episode docuseries that debuted at the end of July on Amazon Prime. It's about a Champions League soccer team (the second tier in English soccer, below the Premier League) that Brady and his private equity pal Tom Wagner recognize as an undervalued asset (always heart-warming when vultures find their food) and purchase, with Brady taking on minority ownership but with full boss duties. Advertisement 'Built in Birmingham' is not bad at all. The city (gritty, industrial, and full of amusingly blunt fans that will remind you of specific Ted Lasso side characters), players (the third episode, featuring star player Jay Stansfield's back story, is the best in the series), and the team (whose history roughly resembles the Red Sox' from 1919-2003) are compelling. The problem is it's far less interesting when Brady is around. He speaks to the players in bromides and banalities — 'We practice like it's the Super Bowl' — about his time with the Patriots (and Bucs), which he seems to presume these futbol players know from A to Z and XXXVI to LV. He punctuates his Cliff Notes Tony Robbins proclamations with a specific expletive so often that it's a wonder it hasn't slipped through on a Fox broadcast. Related : When he is involved, Brady — who describes his role as 'being there in a visionary role' — only seems authentic when he's belittling something or angry. He joins his friends in talking condescendingly about the city and the team as they're on he way to see the Blues' aged facilities for the first time. Before a game against Wrexham — famously owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney — Brady tells the camera, 'Let's go get a [expletive] win against Wrexham ... Ryan Reynolds, Mackilrey, whatever your [expletive] name is.' Advertisement When Wagner informs Brady that putting together a swag bag for visiting legend David Beckham would be considered a faux pas — Beckham never played for the team — Brady gets a look on his face that suggests Joey Galloway just ran the wrong route again. He tells Wagner through a scowl that Beckham should be gifted something anyway. He likes to talk about how he was an underdog, but he comes across as someone who can no longer remember what that was like, or what he was like. The most off-putting scene occurred in the opening episode when Brady, Wagner, and his team strategized in the back of an SUV before popping into a local pub to meet some fans for a quick public-relations opportunity and a few more Lasso vibes. 'We have to feel this one out, boys,'' Brady says. 'This is not my thing.' He's told it will only be 15 minutes. He asks if he'll be signing autographs. The pop-in is designed to make him look like a man of the people. He's friendly enough once he's in the pub, but we know how he really feels. His people these days aren't the ones chugging beers. I was hoping while watching the series that Brady might have a revelation by the fifth episode, ditch the processed corporate speak, abandon the arrogant expectation that whatever he says carries weight because of what he accomplished in the NFL, and show some authentic emotion, like he did after winning those first few Super Bowls. I was hoping any success he found in Birmingham would remind him of his best times with the Patriots, and thereby bring out genuine emotions. Related : Advertisement Instead, that happened with, of all people, Wagner, the calculating investor, who by the end is fully invested in the people on this team. I won't spoil the circumstances, because this show is worth watching, despite the Brady frustrations. In the fifth episode, Wagner makes a truly stirring and heartfelt speech, and as I was watching it, I couldn't help but think, 'Man, when the private-equity guy can summon more passion than Tom Brady, that's awfully damning.' Hmmm. Maybe Fox should give Wagner a shot as its lead NFL analyst.
