THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck First responders recovered the body of a male who drowned in the lagoon in Harrison Hot Springs, B.C., on Saturday. Emergency crews were first called to the area at 11:20 p.m. Friday, according to the Agassiz RCMP, who say the Harrison Hot Springs Fire Department and search and rescue volunteers also attended to look for the person. The search continued into the day Saturday and police asked people avoid the Harisson lagoon to leave room for emergency personnel. In a statement, authorities only described the deceased as male, saying they were withholding further details out of respect for his family. 'We offer our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of the male,' the statement reads. Police said foul play is not believed to be a factor in the drowning.

Saskatoon police investigating after person reportedly jumped from Railway Bridge

Saskatoon police are investigating after a person reportedly jumped from the 33rd Street East Railway Bridge Saturday afternoon. At around 1:13 p.m., fire crews were alerted to a person in distress in the South Saskatchewan River. According to eyewitnesses, the individual had jumped from the bridge. Arriving crews observed a person in the water, north of the Railway Bridge. The fire department says a water rescue team member engaged the person in the water and applied a life jacket. Due to shallow water conditions, Boat 5 was deployed and walked to the patient. The individual was then transported to shore, where they were transferred to ambulance personnel. The scene was turned over to the police for further investigation.
