There is something about WNBA star Napheesa Collier as she continues to dominate the league with her A-game. She is the mother of a three-year-old girl who would surely be proud of the Minnesota Lynx power forward.
Having just picked up her third Western Conference Player of the Month title and been named an All-Star and team captain for the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game, here are some interesting facts about the most inspiring players in the WNBA.
Napheesa Collier knows the art of mastering the court and motherhood
Napheesa gave birth to her daughter in May 2022 and returned to the court just three months later to play one last time with Sylvia Fowles before the latter's retirement.
She has been married to basketball skills coach Alex Bazzell since 2022.
They named their daughter Mila Sarah Bazzell. On her birthday in May, Collier shared an adorable family picture on Instagram and wrote in caption: 'Happy birthday to our baby girl! How she's already turning 3, I have no idea. We love you so much.'
Napheesa Collier is among the most stylish WNBA players
A month after Mila's birth, Napheesa graced the cover of Slam magazine, which gave her the title of 'Superwoman.' And she continues to live up to it, with her growing list of accolades and awards.

Yet she's not just about strength and sweat — she also knows how to glam up off the court, whether it's for tunnel walks or red carpet events.
Napheesa Collier has a basketball league of her own
Collier is a major figure in the WNBA, but she also co-founded her own basketball league with fellow star Breanna Stewart. It's called Unrivaled, and it offers WNBA players, including herself, a chance to compete for money during the off-season.
During her childhood, Napheesa was denied a spot on an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team in Jefferson City.
In response, her parents formed a new team — the Lady Warriors — to ensure she could continue playing.
Glimpse of Napheesa Collier's achievements
In addition to her WNBA success, she has also won two Olympic gold medals with the U.S. national team: one at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and another at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
After playing college basketball for the University of Connecticut Huskies, Collier was drafted by the Minnesota Lynx as the 6th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft. She became just the second rookie in WNBA history — after Tamika Catchings — to record 400 points, 200 rebounds, and 60 steals. Unsurprisingly, she went on to win the WNBA Rookie of the Year award that same year.

Neeraj eyes Diamond League as India gears up for NC Classic

Bengaluru, July 4 (UNI) Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra today said the inaugural Neeraj Chopra Classic could become a springboard for India to one day host a prestigious Diamond League event, signalling a bold new chapter for Indian athletics. Speaking on the eve of the international javelin meet at Bengaluru's Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Chopra told reporters in a press conference, 'This could become a stepping stone for India to one day host a Diamond League meet. That is the dream — to keep raising the standard.' The World and Olympic gold medallist, who is also spearheading the event's organisation, called it both a proud and demanding responsibility. 'The toughest part was not just organising — but doing it while also preparing to compete. That's been the real challenge,' he said. Chopra admitted that juggling athlete duties with those of an event host required a mental shift. 'As an athlete, my focus has always been singular — to train and compete. But now I'm also thinking about food preferences for others, the comfort of visiting athletes, and every small detail… but I enjoy it.' He said the experience had transformed him: 'I've realised it's not just about my own performance anymore. It's about making sure everyone — from fellow athletes to support staff — feels welcome and looked after.' Chopra also expressed deep gratitude to the Karnataka Government, sponsors, JSW Sports, and all support staff involved. 'Everyone has worked extremely hard. It feels great that such an event is finally happening in India with top-level throwers.' Joining Chopra was 2016 Olympic gold medallist Thomas Rohler of Germany, who lauded India's rapid rise in javelin. 'It's a joy to visit a country where javelin is rising so rapidly,' Rohler said. 'When Neeraj reached out, I said yes right away. I know how hard it is to organise something like this. You need support from all sides — staff, sponsors, and fellow athletes.' Rohler, who is making a competitive comeback after injury, said participating in the NC Classic was both symbolic and personal. 'Neeraj is a good friend. I've been part of Indian javelin meets before, and I'm proud to support this initiative.' The event also features rising Indian talent Sachin Yadav, who described his inclusion as a dream come true. 'When I got a message from Neeraj bhai, I couldn't believe it at first. It's a huge honour to compete with the world's best — and that too on home soil.' The Neeraj Chopra Classic is India's first international event dedicated exclusively to javelin. It will feature a 12-man elite lineup, including World and Olympic medallists, and will be streamed live on FanCode. With athletes already arriving and final preparations complete, tomorrow's event promises not only a spectacle of world-class sport, but a statement of intent — that India is ready to compete, and now ready to host.
