The polytechnic stream, chosen by students after Class 10, has been gaining popularity in recent years, especially among high-performing students. This can be gauged by the fact that five students, who scored a perfect 100% in the 10th board exams, have applied for admission to diploma courses this year.
These five students are Ravan Harshada Hemant from Kolhapur, Sontakke Arnav Arvind from Latur, Lahane Manthan Shrikant from Latur, Sawant Chaitanya Krupesh from Sindhudurg, and Deshmukh Urvi Kuldeep from Latur.
Additionally, 9,686 students with over 90% marks, are part of the final merit list. With the final list released, students must now fill their college and course preferences between July 8 and July 10.
According to Dr. Vinod Mohitkar, director, DTE, the admission process will follow a new rule structure this year, with four Centralised Admission Process (CAP) rounds.
Candidates need to log in to their accounts to check their final merit number and make sure their personal details like name, gender, marks, and reservation category are correct. The DTE has clearly said that if anyone gets admission using false or wrong information, their admission will be cancelled.
'For the first CAP round, allocation will be based on the student's top preference. In the second round, allotment will be from the top three choices, and in the third round, from the top six. If a student is allotted any of the preferred colleges, they will be required to take admission. Hence, students must enter their preferences carefully,' said Dr. Mohitkar.
The DTE Maharashtra will conduct three rounds of counselling for admission to polytechnic courses. These admissions are for the first year of the three-year full-time diploma in Engineering and Technology programmes. The programmes are offered at government, government aided, university managed, and private colleges. Seats will be allotted to students through the CAP rounds.
The Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for polytechnic courses will follow a structured schedule, beginning with the preference-filling phase from July 8 to July 10. This will be followed by the announcement of the first round merit list on July 12, and admissions for this round will take place from July 13 to July 15.
Subsequently, vacant seats for the second round will be declared on July 16, and students can fill their preferences for the second round between July 17 and July 19. The second round merit list will be published on July 21, with admissions scheduled from July 22 to July 24.

No More Than 45 Students Per Section: CBSE Releases New Guidelines For Schools

Last Updated: CBSE Guidelines: Schools have been asked to maintain a classroom size of at least 500 square feet and a minimum space of 1 square metre per student. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reiterated the guidelines for schools regarding the student count in each section from class 1 to 12. Ideally, each section should comprise 40 students, but under certain conditions, schools can enroll up to 45 students. What are these new regulations? CBSE states that typically, each section from class 1 to 12 should have a maximum of 40 students. This ensures a conducive learning environment where teachers can focus on individual students. However, several schools requested exceptions for specific scenarios, prompting CBSE to allow some flexibility with conditions. Parent Transfer: If a child's parents are transferred, especially those in the armed forces, central government, PSU, or private sector, they can receive admission exemptions. Repeating Students: Children who need to repeat a class due to certain reasons. Children with Severe Illness: If a child has fallen behind in studies due to a serious illness and needs re-admission. 'The schools shall record the reasons for such admissions beyond the limit of 40 in each section in the portal at the time of registration of students for classes IX- XII. The same shall also be recorded in the Admission & Withdrawal Register at the time of taking their admissions," states the official notice. Rules For Schools That Wish To Admit More Than 40 Students Schools wishing to admit more than 40 students must adhere to certain rules: Classes 9 to 12: The reason for admission must be uploaded on the CBSE portal and documented in the school's admission and withdrawal register. Classes 1 to 8: The reason must be recorded in the admission and withdrawal register, and information must be uploaded on CBSE's OASIS portal. Regional Office Approval: Schools must seek approval from the CBSE regional office for mid-session admissions of transfer or repeat category students. CBSE has firmly stated that under no circumstances can a section exceed 45 students. This rule ensures classrooms are not overcrowded and maintains the quality of education. Schools admitting 45 students must ensure certain basic facilities under clause 4.8 of the CBSE Affiliation Bye-laws 2018. This includes a classroom size of at least 500 square feet and a minimum space of 1 square metre per student. CBSE advises schools to prepare for re-implementing the 40 students per section limit in the future, which may require building new classrooms or improving existing facilities. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Polytechnic admission round 2 list declared, July 24 last date for seat confirmation

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra, on July 22, released the second allotment list for admissions to diploma-level engineering (polytechnic) courses for the academic year 2025-26. This round marks a crucial phase in the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), as over 80% of applicants who filled preferences were allotted seats. These students are now required to report to their allotted institutes between July 23-24, along with original documents, to complete the admission process and confirm their seats. (REPRESENTATIVE PIC) According to official data, 63,460 candidates had filled their preferences for CAP Round 2, out of which 51,223 students have secured admission. These students are now required to report to their allotted institutes between July 23-24, along with original documents, to complete the admission process and confirm their seats. This year, a total of 63,788 seats were made available across government, government-aided, and private unaided polytechnic institutes in the state. The admission process began this year with 87,976 students being declared eligible for CAP rounds. In the second round, 63,460 students submitted preference forms, and out of them, a significant 80.30% have been allotted seats. The allotment data reveals that 28,902 students have been allocated one of their top three preferences. These students, along with those who have received a seat for the first time in this round, are required to accept the allotment and pay the fees. Once they do so, they will not be eligible for future CAP rounds. Candidates who are satisfied with their allotted seat, even if it is not from among their top three preferences, can freeze their choice. By doing so, they confirm their admission and will exit the CAP process. However, students who wish to wait for a better allotment in the upcoming round may choose the Not Freeze (Betterment) option. This allows them to retain the current allotment temporarily while still remaining eligible for higher preference seats in Round 3. In both cases, the student must first accept the seat and pay the requisite fee online before proceeding to the institute for final confirmation. DTE has clearly advised students to read instructions carefully, as any incorrect or false information submitted during admission could lead to cancellation of seat, and the student would then need to go through a grievance redressal process to correct the data. Once a student accepts the allotted seat by logging in to the official DTE admission portal and paying the acceptance fee, they must subsequently report to the allotted institute. The college will verify the student's original documents, update the admission status on the central portal, and issue a confirmation receipt along with the fee receipt. Admission is confirmed only after this step is completed. For students still waiting for a better allotment or those who did not receive a seat in Round 2, the next phases of the CAP process are critical. On July 25, the DTE will publish the list of remaining vacant seats after Round 2. Students can then fill in fresh preference forms for Round 3 on July 26 and 27. The third allotment list will be released on July 29, providing another opportunity to secure a seat in a preferred institute. DTE has urged students not to wait until the last moment to confirm their admissions. They must carry original documents, pay the prescribed fees, and complete all verification procedures within the specified timeline. Any lapse could lead to the cancellation of their allotted seat.
