Rights panel asks Tripura DGP to assist man stranded in Malaysia
The DGP has been tasked by the commission to take appropriate measures to assist the victim, Binoy Das, following a thorough investigation. The THRC's directive came after receiving a formal complaint from Satya Prakash Mishra, a Jharkhand resident, who submitted the petition for Binoy Das from Agartala, West Tripura.
The case is classified under 'exploitation of Indian labourers in foreign countries'. The petitioner states that Das was enticed to Malaysia by an organisation allegedly connected to ISKM, Pondicherry, with assurances of enhanced employment prospects and increased earnings.
His tourist visa lapsed approximately a year ago, and despite assurances of legalising his stay to enable him to work and support his unwell father financially, the promises remained unfulfilled.
The commission's statement reveals that the petitioner's brother, Satyam Chaudhury, encountered similar difficulties with the same organisation. However, he returned to India in Nov 2023 through the assistance of the Indian High Commission in Malaysia.

Although Das was present during the repatriation proceedings, he stayed back based on assurances of status regularisation. "Das has been in constant touch with the complainant since then, expressing growing anxiety and a sense of helplessness," the order noted.
He has not received his promised compensation and lives under the constant threat of arrest as an unauthorised immigrant. The petitioner has provided evidence relating to Das's situation, indicating a systematic pattern of exploitation by certain India-based organisations that deceive vulnerable people with false opportunities abroad before abandoning them.
THRC has sent the complaint and supporting documents to the DGP, requesting verification of the case's legitimacy, stating, "Let the DGP conduct an inquiry and submit a report by the next date. If the claims are substantiated, appropriate action may be initiated for the victim's repatriation. The case is scheduled to be taken up after three weeks."

Rs 260 crore fraud: ED raids 11 places in Delhi, Dehradun
NEW DELHI: The ED on Wednesday conducted searches at 11 locations across Delhi-NCR and Dehradun as part of its probe under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) into alleged global cyber fraud scam being run through call centres, officials said. The central probe agency conducted searches in Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Dehradun against the cyber fraud ring accused of duping Indian and foreign nationals, they said, adding that the total proceeds of crime are believed to be Rs 260 crore as of yet. Revealing about the modus oprandi, the officials said, the fraudsters allegedly impersonated as technical agents from leading tech companies like Microsoft and Amazon and allegedly offered to assist citizens in the United States and Canada. The ED found that they cheated the victims by transferring their money into cryptocurrency networks and Bitcoin wallets, after which they were converted into fake crypto wallets. The call-centre in Noida is believed to be the main centre for the crime from where the fraudsters used to threaten the victims of their potential arrests, they said. The agency has seized many electronic devices and evidence during the raids, including several documents. There are several complaints received by the CBI and Delhi Police, which are in the process of registering FIRs in the matter, the officials said, adding that further details are awaited in the case as there is a possibility of involved individuals being arrested by the ED. Meanwhile, in another case assets valued at Rs 42.8 crore belonging to an Indian national, who was detained in the US, have been seized under the PMLA, the officials said.

‘Go back to India': Six-year-old brutally assaulted by kids, hit in private parts in Ireland's Waterford
A six-year-old Indian-origin girl was brutally assaulted in Ireland by a group of children outside her home in Waterford earlier this week. The girl was punched in the face and hit in the private parts as the attackers yelled 'go back to India', according to The Irish Mirror. Recounting the harrowing incident, the girl's mother, Anupa Achuthan, said that the attack took place when her daughter was playing outside her home in the Kilbarry area of Waterford City, on Monday evening. She noted that the gang of kids, who assaulted the six-year-old, included a girl aged around eight and several boys between 12 and 14. 'She told me five of them punched her in the face. One of the boys pushed the bicycle wheel onto her private parts, and it was really sore. They said the F word and 'Dirty Indian, go back to India. She told me today (Wednesday) they punched her neck and twisted her hair,' the mother told The Irish Mirror. Achuthan said that the incident took place when she stepped inside to feed her 10-month-old toddler son. 'It was around 7.30 pm and she was playing inside the house. She wanted to play outside and go cycling. I let her outside for a few seconds. My husband was at work on night duty. He was off to work, and I was alone with my 10-month-old and my six-year-old. She went out with her friends. I was supervising them just in front of the house. They were playing together and I knew they were safe,' she said. 'My youngest one started crying because it was his feeding time, so I just let Nia know that I would be popping inside the house and she could play with her friend,s and I would be back in a second after feeding the baby,' Achuthan added. 'She couldn't even talk' Achuthan, who recently became an Irish citizen, said that her daughter entered the house feeling scared and upset and 'couldn't even talk'. 'I had never seen my daughter like that. I just asked her friends what happened, and they were all so upset, they couldn't talk. One of her friends said a gang of boys older than them hit her on the private parts with a cycle and five of them punched her on her face,' she told the Dublin-based news outlet. 'After having dinner, I was walking near my apartment when a group of six teenagers attacked me from behind. They snatched my glasses, breaking them, and then beat me relentlessly across my head, face, neck, chest, hands, and legs—leaving me bleeding on the pavement. I managed to call the Gardaí, and an ambulance took me to Blanchardstown Hospital. The medical team confirmed my cheekbone is fractured, and I have now been referred for specialist care,' he wrote. Another incident was reported in Tallaght, where an Indian man in his 40s was hospitalised following what was dubbed as 'mindless, racist violence'. 'Gardaí in Tallaght were alerted to an incident at Parkhill Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24 on the evening of Saturday 19th July, 2025, at approximately 6 pm,' the local police said in a statement. 'Gardaí attended the scene and a male, aged in his 40s, was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with injuries,' the statement added. The rise in the number of such attacks prompted the Indian embassy in Dublin to issue an advisory urging Indian nationals to remain vigilant.
