MP flags OTT show showing sex positions days after Centre's ‘perversity' remark
A clip from Ullu App's reality show -- House Arrest -- has gone viral for its explicit content, triggering outrage among social media users. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also weighed in on the controversy, stating she had escalated the matter of obscene content on OTT platforms and requested to ban several such apps to the Parliamentary Standing Committee and is awaiting a formal response.advertisement'I have raised this in the standing committee that apps such as this, namely, Ullu App and Alt Balaji have managed to escape the ban by I&B ministry on apps for obscene content. I am still awaiting their reply," Chaturvedi said in a post on X.The development comes days after the Supreme Court, in a ruling, noted that content on OTT platforms can go to the "extent of perversity", and that platforms have a "social responsibility".
While criticising the explicit content on the show, many social media users also drew comparisons with the backlash comedian Samay Raina recently faced, questioning the selective outrage. In the controversial clip, Ajaz Khan, a former Bigg Boss contestant, is seen asking contestants to act out different sex positions — an exchange many viewers have slammed as crass and distasteful.advertisementAt one point, he presses a female contestant to demonstrate her knowledge of sex positions. When she hesitates and admits she hasn't explored them, Ajaz pointedly asks, "Tumne experiment nahi kiya kabhi?" (You've never experimented?).The situation takes a more explicit turn when Ajaz asks a fellow contestant to direct two others in demonstrating the positions. The contestant then complies, guiding others through the act, as they mimic her instructions in a scene laced with overtly suggestive undertones.SOCIAL MEDIA OUTRAGEBJP Yuva Morcha Bihar chief Barun Raj Singh took to X and asked Union Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw to "save our children"."There is a show called House Arrest hosted by #EijazKhan. In this show, girls are made to take off their bras and panty. As the girls take off their underwear, the host of the show and the rest of the people boo and clap. They talk about on camera sex position.Such shows should be stopped immediately. Save our children @AshwiniVaishnaw sir," he posted.Social media users also slammed the viral clip, calling it beyond the definition of vulgar."Dear @AshwiniVaishnaw sir & @MIB_India. Show: HOUSE ARREST. OTT: ULLU. This show is not only disgusting but beyond the definition of vulgar. The host Ajaz Khan is crossing boundaries. It's a cheapest copy of Bigg Boss. The reels of this show are viral. Please ban this show asap," an X user wrote.advertisement"Whatever happened on Samay Raina's show wasn't as ugly as what's openly showing Ajaz Khan. This video is just 1 example, Where should FIRs actually be filed and where should they not? You decide! @MIB_India they are corrupting our young minds so please ban this vulgar show," wrote another."Not only it's needs to be banned but also legal action should be taken against such programs," another user posted tagging the official X account of Mumbai Police.Ajaz, infamous for his provocative remarks, has so far remained silent amid the backlash.SUPREME COURT NOTICE TO OTTsIn a recent ruling, the Supreme Court termed the trend of obscene content on online platforms an 'important concern' and said that Over The Top (OTT) and social media sites too "have a responsibility".The top court also issued notice to the Union Government and OTT platforms Netflix, Amazon Prime, AltBalaji, Ullu Digital, Mubi, and social media platforms X Corp, Google, Meta Inc and Apple.Must Watch

Don't fall for monetary offers to switch sides, stay united: Uddhav to party workers
Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday asked his party cadre not to fall prey to monetary offers for switching sides and appealed to them to stay united for the sake of Mumbai. The comments come ahead of the polls to various local and civic bodies in Maharashtra, including the cash-rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), likely to be held later this year. The Shiv Sena split in June 2022 after a rebellion led by Eknath Shinde and resulted in the collapse of the then Thackeray-headed Maha Vikas Aghadi government. The source quoted Thackeray as saying that the shakha pramukhs and other lower-rung cadres form the core strength of the party, and because of their unity and strength, the organisation won elections in Mumbai in the past. Live Events "For the civic polls, unity is necessary. You may be getting monetary offers to switch sides. For how much time will the money suffice? Those who want to finish off Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena have only business angle in mind. They want to sell off Mumbai and hand it over to corporates," the source quoted Thackeray as saying. "Those who are falling prey to monetary considerations don't understand that they are being used and will be thrown away later," the former chief minister said. He asked the shakha pramukhs to reach out to people in all the 227 wards of the BMC, strengthen the grassroot network and connect with the people, the source said. Ahead of the coming local body polls, the BJP-led Mahayuti state government has issued orders for ward delimitation in all 29 municipal corporations, including Mumbai. PTI

"Why is US President Trump not stopping the war?": Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Israel-Iran war
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 15 (ANI): Addressing a press conference, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut urged that the war between Israel and Iran should stop. He questioned US President Donald Trump for interfering between India and Pakistan, while not mediating between Israel and Iran. Sanjay Raut said, 'Such a war is going on, when I watch images, I get scared and I feel pity for the dead. Israel and Iran are both nuclear states. Why is US President Trump not stopping the war? The way President Donald Trump forced India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop the war in the name of trade, and is saying repeatedly that the war would have been harmful, as both (India and Pakistan) have nuclear weapons...' He added, 'Both Israel and Iran have nuclear weapons, and they've started using them. Neither the Iranian President (Masoud Pezeshkian) nor the Israeli PM, Netanyahu, is ready to listen. Both nations say that they are fighting for their dignity, so we also started a war against terrorism. Why did President Trump stop our war? And why did we back off under Trump's pressure?' 'The war between Israel and Iran should stop,' Raut told the reporters on Sunday. Questioning PM Modi's foreign visits, he said, 'PM Modi's war was stopped by Trump. How come Modi can stop a war? Now, PM Modi is going to Canada, Cyprus, and Croatia, where he will give speeches.' Talking about the Thackeray family's contribution in Mumbai, he said that PM Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis cannot beat the Thackeray brand. 'Modi-Shah or Fadnavis cannot beat the Thackeray brand in respect Balasaheb Thackeray's family. The sacrifice and struggle the Thackeray family has done for 'Marathi manus' and Maharashtra is incomparable,' he said. Meanwhile, MP Raut's statement on the Air India plane crash created a row. On Saturday, he raised questions about possible sabotage in the plane crash in Ahmedabad, which killed 241 people. He asked whether there was any cyber-attack on the system of the plane by any enemy country, as they try to target India's military installations with their cyber-attacks. 'I am not an expert, but there are serious questions about sabotage in the Air India plane that crashed in Ahmedabad within 30 seconds of takeoff. Was there any cyber-attack on the system of the plane by any enemy country, as they try to target our military installations with their cyber-attacks?' Raut said in a press conference. Reacting to Raut's statement, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said, 'Not every issue should be politicised. Sometimes, we must rise above politics and act with human sensibilities, and I would request the same from Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut. It was a very unfortunate event, and every member of the nation is praying for the departed souls.' (ANI)

Sanjay Raut's dig at Donald Trump on Iran-Israel conflict: 'Why not stop the war?'
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday took a dig at Donald Trump over his claim that he stopped India and Pakistan's conflict, asking why the US president is unable to stop the "Iran-Israel" war. India had rejected Trump's claim, saying the ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan was achieved after the nation's DGMO called his Indian counterpart. "Such a war is going on, when I watch images, I get scared, and I feel pity for the dead. Israel and Iran are both nuclear states. Why is US President Trump not stopping the war? The way President Donald Trump forced India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop the war in the name of trade, and is saying repeatedly that the war would have been harmful, as both India and Pakistan have nuclear weapons," Sanjay Raut was quoted as saying by the news agency ANI. Questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign visits, Raut said, 'PM Modi's war was stopped by Trump. How come Modi can stop a war? Now, PM Modi is going to Canada, Cyprus, and Croatia, where he will give speeches.' Pakistan attacked India's civilian and military buildings after New Delhi's Operation Sindoor targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. After a four-day skirmish, Pakistan's DGMO, rattled by India's precision strikes on the nation's air bases, called up his Indian counterpart and urged for a ceasefire understanding.
