MORRISONS has whipped up a brand-new bakery range – and it's stuffed with sweet treats set to rival your childhood favourites and a viral M&S hit.
Shoppers went into a frenzy after M&S announced it was stocking giant versions of two iconic British biscuits - the Bourbon and Custard Cream.

Now, Morrisons shoppers can also bag supersized versions of classic biscuits from their new bakery range for £1 cheaper.
Another showstopper is its new Cakeshop croissant sando – a flaky, cream-packed dupe of M&S's viral pastry that'll only set you back £1.50 - a quid cheaper than the original.
Fillings include Jam, Cream & Raspberries or Jam, Cream and Almonds.
Also joining the line-up are indulgent loaded brownies (£3 for 4), two fresh 'The Best' focaccia rolls (£1 for 2) perfect for Italian nights, and a throwback Caramelised Biscuit Cake for just £1.

A giant take on two of Britain's best-loved biccies, the new bakes are already turning heads.
The Caramelised Cream pays homage to the Custard Cream, which first hit biscuit tins way back in 1908.
Morrisons' version is packed with a rich caramel twist into the classic vanilla filling.
Meanwhile, the Chocolate Cream is a mega-sized nod to the Bourbon, invented in 1910.
It comes complete with a smooth chocolate buttercream that'll delight fans of the teatime staple.
Even better, a pack of two is just £2 - whereas the Marks and Spencer version will set you back £3.

The flaky favourite may be seen as the ultimate French pastry today, but the croissant actually traces its roots back to Austria in the 17th century, where the kipferl was its buttery ancestor.
It was later adopted – and perfected – by French bakers, becoming the breakfast staple we know and love.
Now Morrisons has given the pastry a modern makeover, stuffing it with indulgent fillings that tap into the viral fruit sando trend – all without the Parisian price tag.
The "fruit sando" or "Japanese fruit sandwich" is a viral food trend, particularly popular on social media, featuring a sandwich with whipped cream and fresh fruit, often strawberries or other seasonal options.
The trend has gained significant traction with the release of a limited-edition strawberries and cream sandwich by Marks and Spencer (M&S) in the UK.
M&S has a long history of sandwich innovation, having introduced freshly made sandwiches in the 1920s and revolutionising the UK high street with pre-packed sandwiches in the 1980s.
Since then, the retailer has sold over four billion sandwiches, making this latest launch a bold new addition to its portfolio.
And with summer-themed items now leaving stores across the UK, some major supermarkets are already selling Christmas goods.
Morrisons customers can pick up Jam, Cream and raspberry-filled croissants or almond and jam-filled croissants for just £1.50 each.
Loaded Brownies

Whether you're after a colourful crunch, a rich chocolate hit, or a decadent caramel swirl, the new brownies are designed to be the ultimate crowd-pleaser – all without breaking the bank.
Customers can pick up a selection of new flavours, including rainbow bean and chocolate sauce, limited-edition bourbon, fudge and caramel sauce, and caramel and chocolate cup.
At it's just £3 for a pack of four.

Morrisons has added two new focaccia rolls to its bakery range.
The savoury snack offers one stuffed with juicy Halkidiki olives and another sprinkled with sea salt and rosemary.
Perfect for mopping up olive oil, serving with pasta or stacking into a posh sarnie – and the best bit?
A pack of two will only set you back £1.

Man Utd transfer news: Ruben Amorim comes up with new plan as midfielder reveals stance on exit

Manchester United still have work to do in the final days of the transfer window as the club look to strengthen Ruben Amorim's midfield before the deadline passes at the turn of the month Manchester United have less than two weeks to complete the remainder of their work in the transfer window. Ruben Amorim will hope the club's activity will help his team reach greater heights after producing an impressive display that ended in defeat against Arsenal. ‌ The Red Devils have already seen significant signings in Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha, having splashed out in the region of £200million. The trio made their competitive debuts against the Gunners but were unable to find the net. ‌ And Amorim looks to want more reinforcements in his squad, with midfield among the priorities. A move for Carlos Baleba has been stopped in its tracks by Brighton's asking price being in excess of £100m. ‌ United may need to facilitate more sales to aid any new deals. Marcus Rashford has already departed on loan to Barcelona but new clubs are still required for Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho. Man Utd transfer plan Manchester United are still considering signing a central midfielder before the end of the summer transfer window after moving on from Carlos Baleba. The 21-year-old Cameroon international is under contract with Brighton until June 2028, and the Seagulls are unwilling to budge on their significant demands having sold Moises Caicedo for £115m to Chelsea two years ago. The Red Devils now have some alternatives in mind however, per The Athletic. Morten Hjulmand and Adam Wharton are now under the microscope as United attempt to strengthen Ruben Amorim's midfield. Hjulmand is extremely well known to the United boss after playing 65 times under the Portuguese coach. The 26-year-old is reportedly available for around £50m. ‌ Wharton meanwhile may be a difficult deal to do as Crystal Palace face seeing Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze depart for Liverpool and Tottenham respectively. The 21-year-old has four years left on his contract. Man Utd can hijack Donnarumma deal Manchester United have found new hope in financing a deal for Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer as interest builds in goalkeeper Andre Onana. Inter Milan are interested in bringing back the glovesman that helped them to the Champions League final in 2023. Onana's position has been widely speculated upon since arriving in England after failing to convince during a difficult period for United. If Inter do come in with a bid, United could have the funds to quickly go out and land their replacement. ‌ Donnarumma could become an immediate target, despite interest from neighbours Manchester City, after Paris Saint-Germain decided they wanted to part ways with the Italian. The Champions League winners want to earn a fee for the shotstopper after failing to come to an agreement over a new deal and signing Lucas Chevalier as a replacement. It is said Donnarumma could be available for as little as £26m. Casemiro transfer stance Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is happy at Old Trafford, despite persistent talk of a move away from the club over the last 12 months. The Brazilian midfielder has produced inconsistent form in the Premier League in recent seasons but started under Ruben Amorim in the first match of the season against Arsenal. ‌ Casemiro has another 12 months on his contract, and has seen links to Saudi Arabia, but appears content to spend another year with the club. "I am very happy here," he said "My family is happy here. I enjoy every day at Carrington and at Old Trafford. If people talk from the outside, that's fine, it doesn't interest me. I just want to focus on winning." Join our new MAN UTD WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Manchester United content from Mirror Football. More businesses forced to close in July as cost pressures mount

Official data from the Insolvency Service showed there were 2,081 company insolvencies in July, edging up by 1% compared with June. The number of compulsory liquidations was slightly higher than in June and up 11% compared with the same month in 2024. Compulsory liquidations happen when a company is forced to close when it cannot pay money owed to creditors. July's figure was also a quarter higher than the monthly average across 2024, the data showed. The level of firms facing insolvency has remained elevated since reaching a 30-year annual high in 2023. Construction firms continue to come under the most pressure, with 3,984 insolvencies in the 12 months to July – making up 17% of all cases. This is followed by wholesale and retailers, who made up 16% of all company insolvencies. Experts said firms are being challenged by 'relentless uncertainty' in the global economic environment. Simon Edel, UK turnaround and restructuring strategy partner at EY-Parthenon, said: 'Many businesses are also contending with higher costs including recent increases to employer national insurance contributions and the national living wage. 'With interest rates still relatively high – alongside significant working capital demands and a constrained credit environment – liquidity pressures are intensifying for more UK companies. 'This is causing more businesses and stakeholders to call time.' Freddy Khalaschi, business recovery partner at Menzies, said: 'The summer heat is bearing down on British businesses. 'Thames Water's reserves are drying up, Claire's has fallen into administration, River Island narrowly avoided the same fate after the court agreed a restructuring plan, and more than 1,000 pubs and restaurants have gone under since the last Budget. 'Consumer confidence remains fragile, house prices are falling and falling job vacancies suggest that businesses are cutting back, with hiring costs rising and with AI and automation starting to make their presence felt.'

Thousands object to Tesla bid to supply energy to UK homes

The company applied for a licence from the energy regulator last month, aiming to start supplying power to homes and businesses in England, Scotland and Wales as soon as next year. But its billionaire owner's political activity, including his support for Donald Trump and far-right activist Tommy Robinson, real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has drawn objections to the application from the public. Campaign group Best for Britain has urged the public to write to Ofgem, arguing Mr Musk is not a 'fit and proper' person to have 'a foothold in our essential services'. Some 8,462 people have used the group's online tool to lodge objections with Ofgem so far. 🚨 BREAKING NEWS – THOUSANDS MORE LETTERS SENT 🚨 📈Thousands of you have taken action so far and sent a letter to Ofgem – will you join us and help stop Musk? ✍️It only takes two minutes to send Ofgem our — Best for Britain (@BestForBritain) August 17, 2025 Best for Britain's chief executive Naomi Smith said: 'We've all had a front row seat to Musk's malign influence, turning Twitter into an incubator for right-wing hate, promoting baseless conspiracy theories and helping Trump secure a second term as US president – something that continues to change our world in profoundly dangerous ways. 'British people are rightly against Musk being anywhere near our electricity supply and that's why we are encouraging more people to make their views known before Friday by using our online tool to write to Ofgem and say they oppose this power grab – it only takes two minutes.' Members of the public have until Friday to comment on the application, after which Ofgem will decide whether to grant Tesla a licence to supply electricity. The electric car manufacturer, run by the world's richest man, also has a solar energy and battery storage business. Tesla has been involved in the UK energy market since 2020, when it was granted a licence to be an electricity generator. In the US, the group has been an electricity supplier in Texas for the past three years. The application comes amid a backdrop of waning demand for Tesla's electric vehicles across Europe in recent months. Industry figures showed an almost 60% plunge in the number of new Tesla registrations in the UK in July, compared with a year earlier. Data showed that 987 new vehicles were registered in the UK in July compared with 2,462 in the same month a year earlier. Tesla was approached for comment for this story.
