Expedite setting up of Reliance CBG plants: AP energy minister
Gottipati said that the establishment of CBG plants in the State would not only benefit local farmers but also create employment and livelihood opportunities for educated youth, encouraging people to voluntarily come forward to support the setting up of these plants.
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar at the Secretariat on Thursday to review the progress of Reliance's green energy investments in the State.
During the review meeting, Gottipati instructed that the officials to expedite setting up of Reliance CBG plants and said that a review would be conducted once every 15 days.
He stated that the plants at Vayumadugu and PC Palli are scheduled to be completed and commissioned by March 2026. In addition to Prakasam district, CBG plants are also being established in select constituencies of Sri Sathya Sai, Nandyal, and Anantapur districts. In the next phase, plants will be set up in the Kandukur, Atmakur, and Udayagiri areas of Nellore district.
Reliance representatives expressed satisfaction with the full cooperation extended by the State government. They said that the CBG plants would provide support to local farmers and create employment opportunities for local youth across the State. On the occasion, Gottipati instructed the concerned line agencies to extend all necessary support to fast-track land allotments, resolve inter-departmental issues promptly, and coordinate closely with Reliance teams at the district level.
He emphasised that this mega green energy initiative holds great potential for rural development, job creation, and industrial growth. He responded positively to Reliance on the support required from the State government. Reliance representatives said that the organisation has already invested over `1,000 crore in the last 18 months for the establishment of eight CBG plants.

Free bus travel for women, transgenders from Aug 15
Vijayawada: The state government's 'Super Six' guarantee of free bus travel for women will be implemented starting August 15, announced transport minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy. Speaking to the press on Monday at the Secretariat, the minister said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to ensure a flawless implementation of the scheme. He revealed that a team of three ministers had visited Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana to study how these states have implemented similar schemes. A comprehensive report from this team has been submitted to the government. The minister confirmed that the scheme is set to be approved in the upcoming cabinet meeting on August 6. Referring to the scheme details that the minister said that all women and transgender individuals from the state of Andhra Pradesh are eligible for free travel. The scheme will cover travel on Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu, City Ordinary, Express, and Metro Express buses. Passengers will be required to show an Aadhaar card, voter ID card, or ration card as proof of identity. The scheme will be implemented on 74 per cent of the state's buses, which amounts to approximately 6,700 vehicles. The minister stated that the estimated annual expenditure for the scheme is around Rs 1,950 crore. He also announced plans to procure an additional 3,000 electric buses this year, with another 1,400 to be added over the next two years. To meet the increased demand, the government will also recruit more drivers and mechanics.

More tankers are poised to discharge another 2.2 million barrels of Urals in the coming hours Bloomberg By Weilun Soon and Rakesh Sharma At least four tankers discharged millions of barrels of Russian crude at Indian refineries at the weekend, a sign the closely scrutinised deliveries are continuing as normal, even as the US ramps up pressure on the South Asian country to stop purchases. Oil traders and shipping companies have been waiting for direction from New Delhi on whether supplies from Moscow will be allowed to continue after US President Donald Trump last week threatened punitive action to curb trade with Russia. Over the weekend, a senior aide accused India of effectively funding President Vladimir Putin's war in Ukraine. Washington's tough demands, coming after a surprise 25 per cent tariff on Indian exports to the US, threw private and state-owned refineries' purchase plans into disarray. Still, India hasn't asked refiners to stop Russian crude imports, according to people familiar with the matter. Three Aframaxes — the Achilles, Elyte and Horae — unloaded nearly 2.2 million barrels of Urals crude, a key Russian grade, to private processors Nayara Energy Ltd and Reliance Industries Ltd over the weekend after a slight delay, ship-tracking data show. The Mikati, also an Aframax, delivered more than 720,000 barrels of Russia's Varandey crude on a two-stop journey that included deliveries to refineries in Kochi and Mangalore. State-run Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd owns the Kochi refinery, while Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. is majority owned by state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp Ltd. More tankers are poised to discharge another 2.2 million barrels of Urals in the coming hours, with Minion and Destan now at Sikka, a terminal operated by Reliance. Aldebaran is due to unload across the gulf at Mundra.
