He pointed out that several BJP-ruled states have been extending BC reservations to Muslim communities for decades. 'First withdraw Muslim reservations in those states, then offer suggestions to Telangana,' he said, addressing reporters in New Delhi.
Revanth referred to a recent High Court order directing the state to conduct local body elections within 90 days and determine reservation criteria within 30 days. He reiterated his government's commitment to complete the local elections by September 30, contingent on the Union government approving two Bills passed by the state legislature to enhance BC reservations to 42%.

Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah arrived in Ahmedabad on Tuesday for his two-day visit to the state. On his arrival, Abdullah said that he has come to Gujarat to take part in a tourism event with a hope that a big proportion of tourists from Gujarat will start visiting J&K again. Abdullah's visit comes months after at least 26 people were killed, including tourists from Gujarat, and several others injured in a terrorist attack in south Kashmir's Pahalgam in April. Interacting with media persons, Abdullah said, 'If you look at the past 30-35 years since tourism restarted in J&K, there are three most important places from where people prefer to visit Kashmir; Gujarat, Maharashtra and West Bengal. There is a two-day event of tourism in Gandhinagar and me and my fellows have come to speak on behalf of J&K with a hope that the big proportion of visitors from Gujarat restart coming (to J&K).' In reply to a question on Operation Sindoor, Abdullah said, 'There are many things regarding which the Union government will have to give answers. A few days back, Lieutenant Governor of J&K (Manoj Sinha) accepted that there was both intelligence and security failure in Pahalgam. If there is intelligence and security failure, then somebody is guilty for that. On the one hand, we have taken the action that was to be taken against terrorists. The three terrorists who are responsible for the Pahalgam incident have been eliminated. But, so far, there is no action taken for the intelligence and security failure there. People would like to hear about that.' In reply to another question on elimination of two more terrorists in J&K on Wednesday, the J&K CM said, 'This will go on. But you have to ask those who told you in 2019 that after abrogation of (Article) 370, terrorism will end in J&K. Today, almost six years have passed since (Article) 370 was abrogated. Even today, terrorists are being eliminated. So, there is a difference between the time when it was said then and current reality.' After his arrival, Abdullah also paid a courtesy visit to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel. During his stay in Gujarat, as per an official release from Gujarat government, Abdullah is also scheduled to visit the Statue of Unity.

Kolkata: Suvendu Adhikari, the BJP Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, got into a massive face-off with a man who chanted "Joy Bangla" at his cavalcade today. His cavalcade was pasisng by when the man started shouting the slogan from the roadside. What followed was chaos, with the leader getting off his vehicle and surrounding the man with his security personnel. The man has claimed that he had been assaulted by the leader's security personnel. The Trinamool Congress shared the 1.2 minute video on its social media page. "I am a Hindu," Mr Adhikari is heard telling the man and threatening to skin him alive. Munsi Ali told the media he was an active Trinamool Congress worker and even worked as a driver for an MLA previously. "I have been very disturbed with the news of migrant workers being attacked in various parts of the country," he said. "When I heard Suvendu Adhikari was coming here, I thought I should ask him why are migrants being targeted in BJP-ruled states. Instead, he tried to force me to say "Jai Sri Ram". But even if he cuts my throat, I will not say it. 'Joy Bangla' is the chant of our state and I will say it repeatedly," said Munsi. The "Joy Bangla" slogan is now a counter to the BJP's "Jai Shri Ram". Initially, on International Mother Language Day in 2021, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked people to say 'Joy Bangla' on phone instead of "Hello". Mr Ali also claimed Suvendu Adhikari's securitymen had hit him with batons, due to which he fell on the road and bruised his hand. "He kept saying he is a Hindu and directed his Central security force personnel to hit me. His Personal Attendant, a bouncer and security men shoved me on the road and hit me," added Mr Ali.

BJP members seek urgent relief from CM
Mangaluru: BJP MP and legislators from Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday submitted a petition to chief minister Siddaramaiah, urging swift intervention to resolve the ongoing crisis surrounding the licensing and supply of laterite stones and sand in the coastal region. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The petition highlighted that both construction and agricultural sectors took a severe hit due to what they termed as "unscientific and restrictive policies" implemented by the state govt. Traditionally, laterite stones extracted from the topsoil in coastal and Malnad regions were manually cut and shaped into bricks. However, with labour shortages in recent years, mechanisation became common. The BJP brass argued that the state's decision to bring laterite quarrying under the purview of the department of mines and geology led to regulatory bottlenecks, causing a burden to landowners and workers, while opening the door to corruption involving officials. They demanded that laterite quarrying be removed from the mines department's control, and that a simplified licensing system be introduced. The petition also questioned the high royalty rate of Rs 290 per tonne charged in Karnataka, compared to Rs 32 per tonne in Kerala, and sought an immediate reduction of the 96% royalty to just 10%, stating that the current rates were making the trade unviable. The petition also flagged the worsening sand shortage in the region. They urged the govt to frame a separate sand policy for the region, allowing for localised solutions and streamlined legal processes for sand extraction and transportation. Recommendations included empowering local bodies to issue permits for the collection of naturally deposited sand from river beds and setting up taluk-level sand management committees to identify and regulate legal mining zones.
