THE showrunner behind one of Netflix's newest shows has defended its raunchy content after viewers branded in "perverted".
Rebecca Cutter is the boss behind hit series, The Hunting Wives, which is a steamy thriller that follows the debaucherous lives of a group of unapologetic Texan women.

The Hunting Wives hit Netflix in the U.S earlier this month and has already generated plenty of buzz thanks to its outrageous plot lines and explicit scenes.
It is based on the book of the same name by May Cobb and stars Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect) in the main role alongside a star-studded cast including Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend's Wedding) and Malin Åkerman (Billions).
Brittany plays Sophie who moves to Texas from Cambridge, Massachusetts with her family and grows close to Malin's character, Margo, an enigmatic socialite with plenty secrets of her own.
Sophie is warned to stay away from her new circle of wealthy acquaintances but fails to do so and, before long, the body of a teen girl is found and they all become embroiled in the mystery of her death.

Rebecca spoke about the women in the show and praised them for being unapologetically sexy while behaving very badly.
The showrunner also defended some of the series' more raunchy plotlines after viewers took to social media to label The Hunting Wives as "perverted" and vulgar.
"It's so fun, and juicy and sexy. Everyone is behaving so badly," she told the New York Post.
"I wanted to do an exploration of women behaving badly, unapologetic sexual conquest running rampant, and just something fun."
Rebecca also praised Malin's ability to embrace her sexuality during her nude scenes, as Margo starts an affair with her 18-year-old son's best friend and falls pregnant.
"It was important to find an actress, not necessarily that was willing to do nudity per se, but that really felt comfortable with the sexuality and owning that power that she has," she said.

"I think there's a fantasy of freedom or power that maybe we don't feel so much as middle-aged women."
The showrunner added: "I just think TV has evolved. The first anti-heroes were all men.
"Now, there can be more female anti-heroes and I certainly think Margot Banks falls into that category."
Despite some of the outrage on social media, The Hunting Wives has managed to rack up an 80 percent score of aggregate movie rating site, Rotten Tomatoes.
While it is not yet available to view in the U.K, Deadline reported that it would not air on Netflix as the streaming giant did not acquire the series from producer Lionsgate Television in any market other than the U.S.
"Lionsgate has sold the series in 10 additional territories, including the UK, Germany, France, Italy and India, where it will launch soon," Deadline reported.

An ancient cemetery and haunted castle were high on the agenda — both of which feature heavily in the new series WICKED WEDNESDAY I went on a spooky tour of Ireland inspired by Netflix's Wednesday with haunted castles and huge waterfalls WHEN I think of a holiday in Ireland I think, Guinness, Guinness and, yep, you guessed it, more Guinness. But my two-day mini-break to Wicklow, just 30 minutes south of Dublin, was anything but that. 4 The enchanting Wicklow mountains in Ireland Credit: Getty 4 Grave expectations for Ortega as Wednesday Credit: JONATHAN HESSION/NETFLIX In fact, it opened my eyes to this region's idyllic and dramatic rolling countryside as well as its complex history, steeped in mythology and folklore. And if I needed any more reason to visit, Ireland is now being billed as the new home of Halloween thanks not just to its long-standing roots to the pagan festival but the hit Netflix series Wednesday. The Addams family spin-off moved its filming location from Romania to Ireland's County Wicklow last year. And viewers can now admire the region in the second series — the first part of which aired, appropriately enough, this Wednesday. With all this in mind, it's fair to say my itinerary was positively gloomy, in a good way. An ancient cemetery and haunted castle were high on the agenda — both of which feature heavily in the new series. Secret tunnel Charleville Castle in County Offaly in the Midland region of Ireland, is the new home of Nevermore School — where Wednesday is shipped off to by her parents. As I wandered the halls and grand rooms of the 1800s Gothic castle, it wasn't hard to see why Wednesday's legendary director, Tim Burton, fell in love with the building's dark charm and character. Despite it being a protected structure, he and Netflix were able to persuade the castle's heritage trust to get a master carpenter to painstakingly remove one of the giant windows at the back. It was replaced with sugar-glass panels in order to film a werewolf smashing through the window and into Nevermore's music room, sparking chaos and fear among the pupils. Martin Lewis warns about strict passport rule that could see you board your flight - only to get sent home on arrival Luckily for me, the werewolf was nowhere to be seen on my visit. Even luckier for the trust, and visitors, Netflix left its giant, nine-orbed chandelier in place hanging dramatically in the entrance hall. Almost like something out of Scooby Doo, the castle's library features a false bookcase which opens up to a secret tunnel. It was originally built to allow the Freemason owners to sneak guests in and out of their meetings undetected. Visitors, meanwhile, have to use the main door located at the foot of a jaw-dropping winding, open staircase which is said to have been the site of a tragic death. Bridget, who has lived in the property since 2013, says her young son once went missing — only for her to find him at the top of the stairs. He supposedly told her he was OK as 'the little girl held my hand'. If I wasn't spooked enough already, I sure would be at Powerscourt Estate an hour's drive away from Charleville Castle. Netflix bosses have used extensive areas of this 47-acre estate to help recreate the magical world of Nevermore. Tucked away in the Wicklow Valley, the Powerscourt waterfall — Ireland's highest at 121 metres — will be instantly recognisable to fans of the show as summer camp Jericho. Away from the Wednesday film locations, the heritage town of Trim in County Meath is also worth a visit — especially at Halloween Powerscourt House itself, with sprawling manicured gardens that would put Buckingham Palace to shame, also features in the hit series. The building and grounds serve as the home of Joanna Lumley's character Hester, who is Wednesday's Grandma. I'm told bosses splashed out on more than 30 assistant directors to try and stop members of the public from filming and leaking scenes after they were unable to close the grounds during filming. To their credit, next to nothing found its way online prior to release. Away from the Wednesday film locations, the heritage town of Trim in County Meath is also worth a visit — especially at Halloween. Trim hosts the four-day Púca festival, which focuses on Ireland's mythological traditions of the spirit world coming to life instead of the commercialised American trick-or-treat version we all know today. Over four days the town transforms into a Halloween mecca with music, comedy, fire displays and a parade celebrating creatures from Celtic mythology called shapeshifters, which come out the shadows to take over the area. Rather than using pumpkins, locals carve out turnips as Jack-O-Lanterns. The turnips are a nod to the Irish folklore tale about a man called Jack who made a deal with the devil, which led to him being rejected from Heaven and Hell. He was destined to wander the countryside for ever, with only a lantern to guide him. While I can't say I've ever had a ghostly experience, in Ireland or otherwise, I leave the country fascinated by tales of yesteryear. But I'm also glad none of them have happened to me . . . yet.

ITV are desperate not to lose her. 'They're acutely aware that she's being offered lucrative work with other companies such as Netflix. She's hugely in demand. 'Maya is proud to be part of Love Island and bosses want her to continue with the series for the All Stars and summer format. 'It is still early days but bosses are preparing an extremely good package for Maya that she would find hard to turn down.' The Bristol-born star began hosting the steamy series in 2023 after taking over from 40-year-old Laura Whitmore. This week Maya took to Instagram to praise Love Island following the series finale on Monday. She said: 'We are one of the few shows to do our finals live and I'm so grateful for the trust because it gives so much room for silliness and iconic moments. 'You truly never know what will happen and I had so much fun. Maya Jama says she 'blacked out' during Love Island final as she praises 'most dramatic series yet' 'Thank you to everyone behind the scenes for working non-stop and to everyone at home for watching.' Maya, dating Man City footballer Ruben Dias, 28, is also being eyed up to front a new entertainment show for Amazon Prime in what is tipped to be a megabucks deal. And she has secured the part of a gangster's wife in Guy Ritchie's hit Netflix series The Gentleman. Love Island: All Stars will return to South Africa next year for six weeks. Sources close to Maya said she has not yet entered into formal negotiations for a new Love Island contract with ITV. Yet today, the feuding brothers find themselves embroiled in a bitter rift as they pursue entirely different paths across the Atlantic divide. The catalyst for their fractured relationship emerged after Harry wed Meghan Markle - with the couple finding it difficult to settle into Royal duties. During the Sussexes' explosive Netflix series, Harry and Meghan, the pair targeted William whilst recounting a pivotal moment that Harry claims left him seething and reduced his wife to tears. The controversy erupted when Harry refused to authorise a joint palace statement refuting bullying allegations - a decision he maintains created an irreparable rift between the siblings, reports the Mirror. This development follows claims that Harry and Meghan's recent efforts to "build bridges and move on" have spectacularly misfired, according to a prominent Royal commentator. "And I get, part of that I get. I understand right? That's his inheritance, so to some extent it's already ingrained in him that part of his responsibility is the survivability and the continuation of this institution. "That day, a story came out that part of the reason why Meghan and I were leaving was because William had bullied us out. And once I got in the car after the meeting, I was told about a joint statement that had been put out in my name and my brother's name squashing the story about him bullying us out of the family. "I couldn't believe it. No one had asked me permission to put my name to a statement like that. And I rang M and I told her and she burst into floods of tears because within four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother and yet for three years, they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us." This emerges as King Charles and Harry's top advisers reportedly conducted a clandestine reconciliation meeting in London last month, understood to be the first significant move in a 'rapprochement process' aimed at mending fractured relationships. The Mail on Sunday disclosed that Meredith Maines, the Duke of Sussex's chief communications officer, dramatically jetted in from LA to meet Tobyn Andreae, the King's communications secretary, at the exclusive Royal Over-Seas League club mere yards from Clarence House, the monarch's London base. Prince Harry's leading UK PR strategist, Liam Maguire, was also in attendance. An insider revealed to the publication: "There's a long road ahead, but a channel of communication is now open for the first time in year. There was no formal agenda, just casual drinks. There were things both sides wanted to talk about." Although Prince William's representatives were apparently excluded from the surprise meeting, Royal experts have disclosed the behind-the-scenes influence he would have wielded as the monarchy's heir apparent. They suggest that whilst William shows little enthusiasm for mending fences with his alienated sibling, with whom he's allegedly had no contact for years, the discussions would never have taken place without his 'backing and consent'. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told Mail Online: "The King would never have made these moves without William's support and understanding. William and Catherine are the future of the monarchy. "He has undoubtedly been furious at the way the Sussexes have behaved and undoubtedly regards Harry's behaviour as treason of a sort. They reportedly have not spoken in over two years.'". Meanwhile, Royal author Phil Dampier remarked: "The King is more anxious to patch things up than William, who I believe will never be close to his brother again." Harry is expected to return to the UK in September for the yearly WellChild ceremonies, presenting a chance for him to reconnect with his father for the first time in 18 months. However, William appears to have no intention of meeting his brother, regardless of the diplomatic efforts.
