'Im really proud of him': Rebecca De Mornay recalls working with Tom Cruise in Risky Business
"I'm really proud of him," shared the 65-year-old actress.
While discussing De Mornay and Cruise's real-life relationship, the actress previously confirmed that she and the 'Top Gun' star dated briefly after filming the movie.
Mornay compared Cruise to a "major chord" while describing herself as a "minor" chord.
"He's like, 'I am Top Gun and that's what America really wanted, and so he's fulfilled it," she said, adding, "He is a brilliant, brilliant interpreter of what the zeitgeist is. I'm really, really proud of knowing him from when we were in the suburbs of Chicago filming Risky Business, and knowing what he wanted and where it is now," reported People.
"We started this together, and look what he did with it," she added.
Cruise began acting in the early 1980s and made his breakthrough with leading roles in Risky Business (1983) and Top Gun (1986). Cruise established himself as a star of science fiction and action films, often performing his own risky stunts. He played fictional agent Ethan Hunt in eight Mission: Impossible films, beginning with Mission: Impossible (1996) and ending with Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (2025).
Rebecca's latest movie, Saint Claire, which also stars Bella Thorne, Ryan Phillippe, and Frank Whaley, is now available in select theatres, according to People. (ANI)

BAFTA tweaks International TV category voting rules, reveals 2026 award dates
London [UK], August 5 (ANI): British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has tweaked its voting process for the international TV category so that all of its 6,000 members are allowed to determine the nominations and winners, reported Deadline. Previously, the round one voting longlist was carried out by members, but round two and three voting was conducted by a to the outlet, the awards body said it has 'opened up the international category to voting members as part of our commitment to greater member engagement across the TV Awards and in recognition of our global membership," as quoted by Deadline. 'We believe this change will strengthen the category and ensure the very best international programmes get the recognition they deserve," it added, as quoted by Deadline. This new move by BAFTA is a reflection of an ever-globalising world of television, as the international TV category has given some interesting winners over the past few years. According to Deadline, in 2024, it was given to Netflix France series 'Class Act', which beat off competition from huge hits like 'The Bear', 'Beef' and 'Succession'.A year prior, the controversial 'Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story' beat the likes of Jennifer Ortega's 'Wednesday' and 'The White Lotus'.Last year's winner was Disney+'s Shogun, reported Rosen, chair of BAFTA's Television Committee, said, 'This year, the most notable change to the rulebook is the International category, which will now be determined by our 6,000-strong TV voting membership. Awarding creative excellence and inspiring future talent is central to BAFTA's mission, so we look forward to commemorating the achievements of the exceptional people who bring TV to life on and off-screen next Spring." In another tweak, BAFTA has said that for submissions with at least five candidates, the body will allow one exemption for a senior team member who might not be UK-eligible, as long as 80% of the team are UK-eligible and there is a clear reason for the exemption.'This reflects how our industry works today, while maintaining our commitment to celebrating UK talent and craft," it added, while pointing to the increase in international co-productions being submitted to the awards, reported Deadline. Last year's BAFTA TV Award nominations saw records broken by the American streamers, who picked up multiple nods for 'Baby Reindeer', 'Slow Horses' and has opened up entries to this year's TV Awards and listed key dates, including the main awards taking place on May 10 and the crafts on April 26. Nominations will be announced in March next year, according to Deadline. Repair Shop TV host Jay Blades charged with alleged rape accusations

'It made me an icon': Sharon Stone on her infamous Basic Instinct leg-crossing scene
Washington DC [US], August 5 (ANI): Actress and film producer Sharon Stone shared that she had the legal right to remove her leg-crossing scene from the 1992 movie, 'Basic Instinct', but chose not to, reported People. The controversial scene featured Stone, who played the role of crime novelist Catherine Tramell alongside Michael Douglas (Detective Nick Curran), crossing her legs while being questioned, revealing that she wasn't wearing underwear. "I very much believe that none of us knew at the time what we were getting in regard to that shot, and when Paul [Verhoeven] got it, he didn't want to lose it, and he was scared to show me. And I get that," recalled Stone. "Once I had time to calm down, I didn't make him take it out of the movie when I had the legal right to," she said, adding, "So I did have the chance to do it differently, and I didn't because once I had the chance to step back, I understood, as the director, not the girl in the film, that that made the movie better."
