Inside the Camden's huge new music-themed immersive attraction
The venue, which is named Live Odyssey, calls itself an immersive 'celebration of British music past, present and future'. Developed by landowners LabTech in partnership with long-time Camden music promoter Gary Prosser, the venue features live music spaces and a stage for holographic performances of iconic UK bands, with acts like Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths and The Libertines appearing in never-seen-before digital form.
Located in the Stables Market, Live Odyssey spans six themed rooms, each representing a different era in British music – from the swinging 60s and Beatlemania to the Britpop boom of the 90s, the rise of grime and Amy Winehouse's Camden years. Visitors can also walk through the exhibit drink in hand, thanks to bars placed throughout the attraction.
Beyond the holographic performances, guests get to see rotating displays of heritage items from music legends, including David Bowie's Glastonbury microphone from his 2000 headline set, leads from John Lennon's Imagine recording sessions, and original album art from the likes of Kate Bush and the Rolling Stones.
The attraction opened in May, but it hasn't gone down a treat with all of Camden's local community.
Before it opened, Camden New Journal reported on concerns that Live Odyssey might impact the local community and its small businesses, noting that around 70 percent of the traders in the block where Live Odyssey opened owed overdue rent. Market traders also described the project as an attempt to turn the market into a 'Britpop theme park'.
The venue also brings to surface ongoing concerns about the gentrification of Camden, where rising rents and tourist-focused developments are forcing out independent traders and long-time residents. Last month traders at Camden's street food market voiced anger over Camden Market Management's choice to turn the space into a more upmarket eating area at their expense.
Live Odyssey, however, says it is committed to supporting the broader music ecosystem, and a portion of ticket sales will go to the Music Venue Trust to help sustain grassroots venues across London and the UK.
Mark Davyd, CEO, Music Venue Trust confirmed this: 'British music has always drawn strength from its roots, and we are grateful that Live Odyssey will be supporting MVT in their mission to protect the spaces where countless artists have honed their craft. Together, we're ensuring that British music, from its historic roots to its future potential, remains accessible and celebrated for years to come.'

Channel 4 comedy branded 'a gift' to be greatest comeback of 2025
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video They're back! After more than a decade, David Mitchell and Robert Webb are bringing back the sketch show with a brand new comedy. Channel 4 has finally released a first look clip and image from the upcoming series Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping, a brand new sketch show hitting screens in September 2025. The six-part season reunites comedy giants Mitchell and Webb on screen for the first time since 2017's Back and 12 years since the end of Peep Show, where they'll be joined by the next generation of comedy heroes, including Ghosts star and Great British Sewing Bee's best-ever host Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Lara Ricote, Stevie Martin, and Krystal Evans. The first preview of Mitchell and Webb Are Not Helping shows a flustered Mitchell sweating his way through airport security, manifesting our biggest fears while also feeling terrifyingly accurate. It's painfully awkward, completely absurd and fans are already calling the show 'a gift'. While many viewers of the preview said they 'can't wait', Mitchell and Webb fan Henry Shevlin has high hopes the show will be even funnier. He wrote on X: 'Mitchell & Webb are probably my favourite British comedians so looking forward to this. The sketch itself isn't that brilliant but maybe C4 went for one with 'broad appeal' and the actual show will be weirder and nerdier.' Ahead of its launch, Mitchell and Webb said: 'When Channel 4 asked us to do another sketch show we were startled, bemused and available. 'It's a perilous time for the industry and so it's our hope that relaunching the trickiest genre of comedy is a brilliant piece of counterintuitive commissioning. 'And we're confident that unlike Roger Moore with his shoe on the bonnet of a car teetering on the edge of a cliff in For Your Eyes Only [REPLACE WITH 21ST CENTURY REFERENCE?] we're not about to give British TV comedy a final lethal nudge into the abyss. 'We're looking forward to working with our brilliant new cast despite their youth and talent and would like to encourage viewers to watch the advert break carefully and do their best to buy something. 'It doesn't have to be a car but, you know, a box of chocolates or an app or something.' More Trending Smith-Bynoe added: 'Getting to join this project with comedy legends Mitchell & Webb feels like getting to sit on the grown-ups table that you've been trying to get on for years, then you realise the grown-ups are just as funny, silly and they'll let you have a sip of Advocaat. 'I'm really excited to be a part of this long-awaited return of comedy royalty.' The duo's last sketch show, Mitchell and Webb Look, won them a Bafta for Best Comedy and ran for four seasons on the BBC. Mathew Horne fights back tears over sudden death of Gavin and Stacey colleague
Mathew Horne fought back tears while telling crowds he'd just been told a crew member from Gavin and Stacey had died. The actor, 46, starred as Gavin Shipman in the BBC comedy alongside Joanna Page, James Corden, and Ruth Jones since it began in 2007 until its final episode on Christmas Day 2024. He was being interviewed on stage for an In Conversation With session in Taunton, Somerset, when he suddenly became emotional and told the audience he'd only just received the news when it had been shared on the cast WhatsApp group. Horne said, via The Sun: 'Sorry. I got distracted. Earlier on… we had a driver on the finale called Rob and he was in his early 40s… and I found out via the Whatsapp group earlier that he has passed away and I got slightly distracted there. 'It's really, really sad. I got distracted by losing Rob. 'He was a really lovely guy and he's left a four-year-old behind and that is really, really, really sad.' Horne also shared how close the cast had become since bonding 'like a family' over the last 18 years. For the main actors, their lives changed beyond recognition and the show became one of the most popular British comedies of all time. He explained: 'In 2019, before the Christmas special – part one of the finale if you like – aired, I lost my mother and Alison really stepped up and she became my surrogate mother off screen as well. 'Whenever she texts me even now she signs it 'Mum'. And that is cool. That is so beautiful. And she says, 'How are you, my little prince?' It means the world to me.' Gavin and Stacey ended on Christmas Day, 2024, with a feature-length episode that attracted a staggering 19.1million viewers. Fans waited five years to find out if Smithy accepted Nessa's proposal to quickly discover he was getting married – but not to her. Instead, the episode followed Smithy gearing up to marry Sonia – his insufferable girlfriend who his friends and family couldn't stand. Thankfully, fans got their happy ending, Smithy jilted Sonia at the aisle and raced across the country to find Nessa and get down on one knee. There has, however, been talk of potential spin-offs with other characters such as Dawn and Pete, played by Julia Davis and Adrian Scarborough respectively, keeping the spirit of Gavin and Stacey alive.
