Raja Singh dismisses rumours of return to BJP
Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh on Monday dismissed reports that he is trying to return to the BJP and that Union Home Minister Amit Shah discussed this with him over phone as rumours. He alleged that some party leaders were behaving like 'doras' (feudal lords) and carrying out false propaganda.
The MLA had recently resigned from the BJP in protest against the leadership's alleged refusal to allow him to contest for the post of state party president. Raja Singh threatened to bring to the notice of the national leaders the state of affairs in the Telangana BJP.
He was of the view that newly appointed BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao is a good writer but lacks leadership qualities to take the party to power in the state.

Bengal migrant worker alleges torture by Haryana police; minister visits him
Kolkata: A migrant worker from Goalpokhar in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district alleged on Wednesday that he had suffered a fracture in his right leg when he was tortured for three days by police at Haryana's Panipat on the suspicion that he was an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant. Md Junaid Alam told the media in Bengal that he returned from Haryana on Tuesday with some other migrant workers. (Representational image) 'The Panipat police detained me on July 25 and pressured me to say that I am a Bangladeshi national just because I speak Bengali. I said I was from West Bengal but they refused to listen. Two policemen used to grab me and two others used to hit me with batons,' Md Junaid Alam told the media at his Goalpokhar home on Wednesday. 'The torture went on for three days before they released me. I returned home yesterday with some other migrant workers,' he added. Minister Md Ghulam Rabbani, the Trinamool Congress legislator from Goalpokhar, visited Alam's home on Wednesday. 'Alam will file a complaint at the local police station against the Haryana police. There will be an investigation,' Rabbani said. Alam raised the allegation days after chief minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that Delhi police physically tortured a toddler and his mother from Malda district on July 26 during the ongoing drive. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lodged a police complaint against Banerjee in Delhi on Tuesday claiming that the video she posted on social media to back her allegation was fake. Cabinet minister Firhad Hakim presented the woman, Sanjanu Parveen, before the media in Kolkata on Wednesday afternoon, two days after deputy commissioner of police (Delhi East) Abhishek Dhania countered the allegation on Monday, calling the charges 'fabricated' and 'politically motivated.' Parveen, however, stuck to her allegation and lodged a complaint against the Delhi police at Kolkata's Pragati Maidan police station on Wednesday. 'Two male and two female police personnel, who were in civilian clothes, not only demanded ₹25,000, which my mother-in-law gave them, but also pressured me to say 'Jai Sri Ram' but I refused,' Parveen told the media. The second allegation, however, was not raised earlier by her or the TMC. The Bengal BJP unit called Parveen a liar and accused TMC of spreading misinformation. Sukanta Majumdar, Union minister of state and former president of the BJP state unit said: 'These lies were exposed by the Delhi police when it recovered footage from all security cameras from the area where the woman claimed to have been assaulted. The footage showed her walking with her two children. There was no one else with her. The Delhi police also traced her relative in Malda who instructed her to record the video,' said Majumdar. Parveen countered this. 'Delhi police did not show any footage from the area where they assaulted me and my 18-month-old son,' she said at the TMC office.

'You have destroyed the faith and trust of the people you made promises to," she said in the Rajya Sabha Bachchan's remarks on Operation Sindoor's name have now drawn the BJP's ire. 'Just see their mindset. Jaya Bachchan ji, the terrorists destroyed sindoor, but sindoor is not just for embellishment; it is also a symbol of strength and capability," BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla was quoted as saying by NDTV. 'The name Operation Sindoor was chosen to send a message: you wipe off sindoor, we will destroy you. This was achieved," he added. Operation Sindoor, a reference to the vermilion used by Hindu women as a display of the sanctity of their marriage, was chosen as the name of the operation as a symbol of the women who lost their husbands at the hands of terrorists in cold blood. BJP-Congress Reacts To Trumps Fresh Tariff Against India
Moments after President Donald Trump announced a 25 per cent tariff on India from August 1, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh hit out at the government, saying all the praise by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has meant little. Ramesh said, "India would get special treatment at the hands of President Trump. Clearly that has NOT happened" "President Trump has slapped a tariff of 25% plus penalty on imports from India. All that taarif between him and Howdy Modi has meant little," the Congress leader posted on X. "Mr. Modi thought that if he kept quiet on the insults that the US President has hurled on India -- the 30 claims of stopping Op Sindoor, the special lunch for the Pakistan Army Chief whose inflammatory remarks provided the immediate backdrop to the brutal Pahalgam terror attacks, and US support for financial packages to Pakistan from the IMF and the World Bank --- India would get special treatment at the hands of President Trump. Clearly that has NOT happened," he added. On the other hand, BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal also reacted to Trump's 25 per cent tariff and called it unfortunate. He added that the Indian government will take cognisance of it. "The Government of India will take cognisance of it. We have to wait and watch how the Government of India reacts to it. In my personal opinion, it is unfortunate," he said. BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi emphasised that there is no reason for concern amid current global or economic challenges, asserting that India stands as a vast and rapidly expanding market. "There is no reason to be afraid. India is a huge market, whose export has expanded exponentially, which will have a reciprocal effect... Under the guidance of PM Modi, we will face this with our tactics....," BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi said.
