ATM bombing rocks Ga-Nala in early hours of the morning
Kriel police are urgently appealing to the public for any information that could help trace a group of armed individuals who bombed an ABSA ATM early this morning at the Kwikspar Complex on Mooilaan.
According to Kriel Police Station spokesperson Constable Angel Makubo, the incident occurred at approximately 01:30.
It is believed that eight to 10 heavily armed men used explosives to destroy the ATM and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
Initial reports suggest that a security guard on duty heard gunshots, followed by a massive explosion and more gunfire.
When it became quiet, he discovered that the ATM had been bombed and that the suspects had already fled the scene.
No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made.

Manhunt underway after armed robbery
A manhunt for four unknown suspects has been launched following a robbery at a fuel station, where a customer's vehicle was also hijacked during the theft in Vleeisboom Village on Monday. Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, said the armed men stormed into the fuel station's office wearing balaclavas and filling station uniforms. The robbers overpowered the staff, damaged the safe and stole an undisclosed amount of money, as well as a cellphone. He added that the men also robbed a customer and hijacked his car while he was refuelling. The men then used the car as a getaway vehicle. 'The vehicle was later found abandoned about 1km from the crime scene,' explained Ledwaba. The police urge members of the public with information that can assist in catching the men to contact the detective branch commander, Captain Marumo Lifi Ramushu, on 082 414 3244, or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111. Zimbabwean man sentenced to 50 years for violent Rosettenville robbery
Thapelo Ncube (26), a Zimbabwean national, was sentenced to lengthy imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, kidnapping, and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition. Magistrate Habib sentenced him in Booysens Magistrate's Court on June 11. He was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment for Count 1, 10 years for Count 2, 15 years for Count 3, and five years for Count 4. The sentence for Count 2 will run concurrently with Count 1, while the sentence for Count 4 will run concurrently with Count 3. Ncube was arrested alongside two co-accused, who were later found not guilty by the court. On October 24, 2023, in Rosettenville, the accused, acting in furtherance of a common purpose, unlawfully assaulted a victim and, through force and violence, robbed her of four cellphones, jewellery, an HP laptop, two watches, and cash. Aggravating circumstances included the wielding of firearms during the commission of the offence.
