Retired Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne signs one-game contract with Finnish team
Rinne, who retired from the NHL in 2021 after a 15-year career, has signed a one-game contract with Kiekko-Ketut, a lower level Finnish hockey team. The team is based in Kempele, Finland, which is Rinne's hometown.
It's unclear when Rinne will suit up for Kiekko-Ketut. According to the team's Instagram page, their next game is Feb. 15 against Kiilat.
If Rinne does play for Kiekko-Ketut, it would be his first professional game since May 10, 2021. Rinne holds the Predators franchise record for saves (17,627), wins (369) and shutouts (60), as well as the most playoff wins (45).
Rinne won the Vezina Trophy in the 2018, the first Predators player to win an individual award, then won the King Clancy Award, given "to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community," in 2021.
After his retirement in 2021, Rinne was named a development coach and scout for the Predators, based in Europe. A statue honoring Rinne was unveiled on the Bridgestone Arena plaza in March 2023
In January, Rinne was inducted into the Predators' Golden Hall, along with general manager David Poile and defenseman Shea Weber.

Don't Look Back In Anger! Romeo Beckham spotted at Oasis gig with Man City star
Beckham Jr at Wembley Spent time with Man City ace Seemingly not blinded by club loyalties to his dad Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱 WHAT HAPPENED? Pictures posted on Instagram showed Romeo in the Wembley crowd for Oasis' latest gig, stood alongside Manchester City star Stones. Beckham Jr's dad, of course, became a legend at Manchester United, but his son is said to be an Arsenal fan, perhaps explaining why he was so willing to dance alongside the City ace. THE GOSSIP Beckham is now trying his hand at modelling, having previously tried, and failed, to become a professional footballer like his father. Stones, by comparison, is still going through his pre-season responsibilities ahead of City's 2025/26 campaign. DID YOU KNOW? He had played for Brentford B in the 2023/24 campaign, and previously turned out for Inter Miami's second team. WHAT NEXT? City play Palermo on August 9 as they step up preparations for the campaign. The Nerazzurri officially announced the Frecnhman's choice of shirt number in an Instagram post. Striker Ange-Yoan Bonny joined Inter Milan this summer. The Frenchman arrived on a five-year deal from Parma. Bonny had been a Parma player for four years, having signed for the Emilian club in 2021. And last season was Bonny's first in Serie A. Track #14: the beat officially dropped 🎧#ForzaInter #WelcomeAngeYoan — Inter ⭐⭐ (@Inter) August 4, 2025 Therefore, Bonny caught Inter's eye. And the fact that Cristian Chivu took over as Inter coach following his successful stint in charge of Parma certainly didn't hurt Bonny as a target for the Nerazzurri. Ange-Yoan Bonny Chooses Shirt Number 14 At Inter Milan Naturally, Ange-Yoan Bonny has not arrived to become a regular first-choice starter at Inter. Rather, the 21-year-old will be an understudy to more experienced strikers such as Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram. That starting pair wear shirt numbers ten and nine respectively. And now, Ange-Yoan Bonny has chosen a shirt number of his own. Starting next season, he will wear the shirt number 14.
