Provincial police say they are investigating after human remains were found in a remote area of the Bruce Peninsula.
Ontario Provincial Police say they were notified Thursday after archeologists working in the area west of Parry Sound across the Georgian Bay came across the remains.

They say officers consulted with forensic experts and a coroner and returned to the scene on Friday to begin a detailed investigation.
OPP say the remains have been collected and taken for further analysis and no additional remains were found.
Police say the investigation is now in the hands of the coroner's office with support from the OPP.
They ask anyone with information about the investigation to contact Grey Bruce OPP.

Airdrie RCMP have charged a Calgary man after responding to a call about a child abduction involving a 12-year-old boy. That is when the suspect drove away. The victim was able to escape the vehicle when it stopped at a red light, then called 911. RCMP attempted a traffic stop after locating the vehicle, but the suspect fled. The suspect was later arrested at a residence in northeast Calgary with the help of the Calgary Police Service and HAWKS. A 37-year-old man is in custody facing multiple charges, including abduction of a person under 14, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, kidnapping and forcible confinement.

Alleged sex acts at golf event in Ontario town under OPP probe
A charity golf event described as having the vibe of 'Ontario turned Vegas' is now central to a police investigation in Mitchell, Ont., a small town outside of Stratford. Perth County OPP have confirmed to Global News that the investigation involves 'allegations that sexual acts occurred during a golf tournament.' Police added that 'videos of this event have been circulating.' The Poppa Pie's Adventures Golf Tournament took place at the Mitchell Golf and Country Club on Aug. 2. Mitchell is about a 20-minute drive northwest of Stratford. According to 2021 data from Statistics Canada, it has a population of just over 4,800. A Facebook post on Aug. 3 from comedy hypnotist Elijah Edwards —who performed at the event, hosted by Jamie Petrie and his business, Poppa Pie's — described it as 'sold out, high-energy, and packed with some of the most incredible audience vibes I've ever seen.' OPP catch man with brass fixtures stolen from Waterford cemetery
An Oxford County man is accused of stealing brass fixtures from a cemetery in the community of Waterford. On Tuesday, an officer with the Norfolk County detachment of Ontario Provincial Police was in the Waterford Greenwood Cemetery on Thompson Road East. Proactive patrols have been stepped up in response to the recent thefts reported at local cemeteries. The officer noticed a sedan leaving the Waterford Greenwood Cemetery around 10:26 a.m. A short time later, the same vehicle was parked on Wellington Street in Waterford. The officer spotted numerous items, including brass fixtures, inside the sedan. OPP said the driver was arrested without incident. Douglas Stevens, a 39-year-old from Oxford County, was charged with mischief by destroying or damaging property, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and theft under $5,000. Similar incidents have also been reported in surrounding communities. In the last week, thefts have been reported at the Delhi Cemetery, the Port Dover Cemetery, Sacred Heart Cemetery in Langton and Bayview Cemetery in Port Rowan. OPP said brass and bronze items were taken, including nameplates, screws and, in one case, an urn. The Avondale Cemetery in Stratford was also targeted at the end of May. Stratford Police said the thieves stole or damaged brass plaques, bronze statues and a bronze lantern. No arrests or charges have been laid in those cases. 'These acts are deeply concerning and cause additional hardship for families already dealing with the loss of loved ones,' Const. Andrew Gamble, the community engagement officer for Norfolk County OPP, said in a media release. 'We are asking the community to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity near cemeteries immediately.'
