Magic, Grizzlies to play in Berlin and London this season with games coming to Manchester and Paris

The league will play games at Manchester, England and Paris in the 2026-27 season, then return to Berlin and Paris for games in the 2027-28 season. The games will be held at Berlin's Uber Arena, London's The O2, Manchester's Co-op Live and Paris' Accor Arena.

'Announcing the next three season's regular-season games in Europe reflects the incredible momentum and appetite for NBA basketball in France, Germany, the UK and across the region,' said George Aivazoglou, the NBA's managing director for Europe and the Middle East. 'We look forward to welcoming the Grizzlies and the Magic to Berlin and London and to engaging fans, players and the local communities through the games and the surrounding events.'

The Berlin game in January will be the NBA's 14th in Germany since 1984, but the first regular-season game in the country — and will serve as a homecoming for Magic players Franz and Moritz Wagner, both of whom play for Germany's national team.

The London game this season will be the 10th regular-season contest in that city. Manchester has never played host to a regular-season game, and Paris has been the site of five regular-season contests — including two last season between the Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs. French star Victor Wembanyama plays for the Spurs, which made them a logical choice to go to Paris for last season's series of games.

The S&P 500 index, meanwhile, traded down only slightly. A downgrade to hold That pundit was HSBC 's Rajesh Kumar, who downgraded his recommendation on Novo Nordisk that morning. Kumar now believes the stock is only worthy of a hold recommendation, down from his previous assessment of buy. He also significantly lowered his price target, chopping it to 360 Danish krone ($55.49) per share from the preceding 680 krone ($104.81). According to reports, Kumar particularly expressed concern about compounded weight-loss drugs, a form of competition that has affected Novo Nordisk's otherwise lively Ozempic and Wegovy sales. The analyst wrote that although the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned compounding, rivals continue to sell such drugs illegally. Kumar does not believe this situation will change much in the near future, so he believes current estimates for total GLP-1 drug sales might be overestimated. Reasons to be cheerful The HSBC pundit certainly raises valid concerns and questions, although the ultimate effect of the compounding ban on Novo Nordisk will depend on how effectively it's enforced; perhaps, in contrast to Kumar's view, the offending parties will be caught and punished. I wouldn't be as down on the Danish company as the analyst. That hot competition only proves how popular Wegovy and its ilk are at the moment, and in a vast country like the U.S. that has a clear problem with obesity, that should continue to motor its fundamentals higher. Plouffe ‘excited' for next chapter of 3X3 basketball career after retirement
She's leaving the competitive court but not the game. And Michelle Plouffe is looking forward to helping guide Canada's national teams in a version of the sport she had a hand in nurturing. The 32-year-old three-time Olympian announced her retirement from international basketball on Monday following a career that saw her compete on the world's biggest sporting stage for the five-on-five sport in London in 2012 and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Plouffe also won back-to-back FIBA AmeriCup championships in 2015 and 2017. The Edmonton native made it back to the Olympics a third time last year in Paris after shifting to three-on-three basketball, commonly known as 3X3 (three ex three), in 2019. Plouffe and her twin sister Katherine played prominent roles in elevating the profile of the 3X3 game, helping the Canadian team win several FIBA 3X3 Women's Series titles, a silver medal at the FIBA 3x3 World Cup in 2022 and a fourth-place finish at the Paris Games. Now, Plouffe will work for the national team program as its 3X3 performance manager for both the women's and men's 3X3 squads. 'It's just the closing of a chapter, opening of the next one, which I'm excited about,' Plouffe told media on Thursday. She said making the transition from athlete to performance coach has been smooth. 'It's been quite seamless in that way, because I know the 3X3 world so well,' Plouffe said. 'It's been great to carry on in that world. I'm just in a different role.' Plouffe is slated to be honoured on Saturday during the Hoop City 3X3 Festival being staged this year at West Edmonton Mall's Ice Palace. The event Thursday through Sunday will feature top men's and women's teams competing in FIBA's 3X3 World Tour and 3X3 Women's Series.
