Parents Hire Detective To Spy On DU Student, Find Her Near Brothel: ‘So Aniruddhacharya Was Right'
The detectives eventually found out that the girl had chosen this idea to get money for shopping and other excursions.
A video detailing a Delhi couple's attempt to spy on their daughter has sparked debate online. The clip featured Tanya Puri, a private detective, talking about how the couple suspected their daughter of having a secret boyfriend so they hired a private investigator to trail her.
The video has led to a lot of discussion, especially as one person mentioned Swami Aniruddhacharya's recent statements about women over 25 years having loose morals. The spiritual speaker had also claimed that girls should be married around the age of 14 so that they can adjust better with their in-laws.
What Happened In The Clip
In a podcast interview, Puri talked about the parents who had hired her company to spy on their daughter, who was a student at Delhi University. She mentioned that they had trailed the girl for a few days and found nothing out of the ordinary. One day, they saw the girl going to GTB Nagar. She reached an area where there were brothels and prostitutes. The detectives eventually realised that the girl had chosen this path to get some extra money to shop for high-end clothes and go out with her friends.
Many slammed the parents for hiring a detective. 'Parents could afford spy but they dint have money to provide for their daughter? Waooooo," a comment read.
Some others were curious about the financial situation of the family. 'Sounds fishy…. Family is so Orthodox to not allow having a boyfriend and give enough expenses to go shopping and live lavishly but can afford a private investigator to snoop on their daughter. Wow," an account remarked.
'Isn't this invasion of privacy….. Following someone without their permission," another claimed.
One person said that parents should talk frankly with their children instead of hiring detectives to spy on them.
What Aniruddhacharya Later Claimed About His Statement
The spiritual speaker had later claimed that his words had been taken out of context to create a misleading narrative. In an apology video on Instagram, suggested that AI could have been used to modify the video.

Mumbai crime branch nab Rajasthan duo running online ‘lost love' scam; ₹16 lakh worth of gold cash recovered
Mumbai: The city crime branch unmasked a pair of smooth-talking fraudsters from Rajasthan who preyed on heartbreak and hope, weaving an elaborate online scam that promised to reunite lost lovers—for a steep price. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The accused allegedly targeted individuals distressed over broken relationships, luring them into paying for expensive rituals under the guise of removing "obstacles in love". According to police, on Aug 1, a 52-year-old woman from South Mumbai lodged a complaint at Pydhonie police station. She reported that an unknown intruder entered her home through a partially open door and stole 129gm of gold and nearly Rs 3.2 lakh in cash, totalling a value of Rs 16.2 lakh. Pydhonie police registered an FIR of theft, and Unit 2 of the crime branch started a parallel probe. As crime branch unit 2 dug deeper, an unexpected twist emerged. Investigators learned that the complainant's daughter, recently estranged from her partner, stumbled upon an Instagram profile named 'Irfan Khanji', awash with alluring promises like "Lost love found in 24 hours" and "Get your love back." Drawn in by the hope of mending her relationship, she shared her number, setting in motion a con worthy of a screenplay. Soon, she was contacted by a man posing as a cleric. The man convinced her that mystical rituals could dissolve the barriers to her romance—if she could provide the necessary items. His shopping list read like a treasure inventory: Silver pots, gold lamps, gold flies, potted plants, and even gold nails. Payments were funnelled into shadowy third-party bank accounts, and, in the final act, the accused travelled to Mumbai to collect the gold straight from her home. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now During the course of the investigation, police stumbled upon a few suspected mobile numbers with which the complainant was in touch. Police zeroed in on two numbers, which were found to be of men claiming to be spiritual gurus. "Based on technical analysis, when we questioned why she was in contact with these two men and on sustained questioning, she broke down and narrated the real story. We traced the suspects to Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan and arrested Vikas Manoj Kumar Meghwal (22) and Manoj Shyamsundar Nagpal (30)," said an officer. During interrogation, the duo confessed to the crime, and police recovered all stolen property—129gm of gold worth Rs 13 lakh and Rs 3.18 lakh in cash. Investigators also found that the accused similarly cheated young women in Haryana and Delhi. Further, police noted the presence of active gangs in Sri Ganganagar that sell Instagram accounts with followers, along with linked bank accounts and SIM cards, which are then used in such fraud schemes. Police have urged young people to be cautious of such online offers, particularly those exploiting emotional distress.

‘Stop It…' Passengers Scream As Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Water Slide Breaks Mid-Ride
Last Updated: An acrylic waterslide on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas broke open on Thursday, injuring one passenger and leaving a sizable hole in the bottom of the tubular slide. Chaos erupted on the Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas cruise ship when an acrylic water slide broke open mid-ride, leaving one passenger injured. The incident took place earlier this week on Thursday, when a section of the tallest water slide, located at the high-altitude Thrill Island attraction, suddenly broke while a guest was riding through its enclosed loop. The video of the incident is doing the rounds on social media platforms, showing the terrified passengers screaming 'Stop the slide!" as water was seen cascading onto the deck below. Several people can be heard shouting, 'Stop the slide. Stop the slide," as the incident unfolded. Icon of the Seas. Water slide breaks #iconoftheseas — Jim Muldoon (@jimmuldoon) August 7, 2025 Royal Caribbean Group confirmed the mishap and said that the injured guest was provided medical care. 'Our team provided medical care to an adult guest when acrylic glass broke off a water slide as the guest passed through the slide. The guest is being treated for his injuries," the group said in a statement as reported by CNN. The injured guest, whose identity has not been released, is reported to be in stable condition. The affected slide has been shut down for the rest of the voyage as the cruise line launches a full investigation into the incident. The incident came amid growing scrutiny of cruise ship safety. In July, the Icon of the Seas faced two separate mishaps. A guest fell over the side of the ship's infinity pool while retrieving sunglasses and a crew member died after allegedly jumping overboard following a violent altercation. According to Royal Caribbean's website, Icon of the Seas has six waterslides in a waterpark called Category 6, which it says is the 'largest waterpark at sea." The park is located on decks 16 and 17 of the behemoth ship, which is currently the world's largest cruise ship in operation. The cruise departed Miami on August 2 and is scheduled to return to port on Saturday after a tour of the Caribbean. It embarked on its maiden voyage in January 2024. The ship can carry nearly 10,000 people at full capacity. (With inputs from agencies) view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
