Delhi HC passes order protecting personality rights of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev
The court passed the interim order in favour of Mr. Vasudev in his suit seeking protection for his personality rights from infringement by rogue websites and unknown entities.
It said Mr. Vasudev had acquired uniqueness in his personality in relation to his voice, name, signature, image, likeness, vocal, articulation style, and his unique attire, looks or appearance.
The court said the objectionable content was not only abusing Mr. Vasudev's personality rights, the defendants had gone a step further and employed modern day technology to modify his images, voice, likeness, and videos for commercial gains.
'If allowed to continue in the manner, it will soon spread like a pandemic with wide, uncontrollable repercussions, especially since it is a social media platform(s) herein happen to be the internet portal(s). If not stopped, the chances that (the wrong) message will spread like wildfire with hardly any water left to douse it,' the court said.
The court ordered the suspension of accounts and the takedown of YouTube channels that exclusively pertained to content infringing upon Mr. Vasudev's personality rights, and directed that their basic subscriber information be disclosed.
The court directed the Department of Telecommunications, and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, to issue notifications or directions to social media platforms to block or suspend various websites, social media accounts, and channels infringing Mr. Vasudev's exclusive rights.
It said that with the immense degree of freedom enjoyed by developers and innovators globally now, especially those intellectual property rightsholders such as Mr. Vasudev, were prone to or may be exposed to or vulnerable to the actions of the 'rogue websites', and more so if such rightsholders were not accorded proper protection from them.
'This so-called dangerous edge has become even sharper with the fast-paced evolution of certain 'hydra-headed' websites, which, even if blocked/ deleted, have the incredible potential to resurface in multitudes as alphanumeric or mirror websites with only minor, mechanical changes,' the court said.
'Such 'hydra-headed' websites, under the garb of privacy, are able to mask their registration/contact details perfectly, making it virtually impossible to locate and contact their operators to, if necessary, demand cessation of infringing contents,' the court said in its May 30 order.

A division bench of Justices C Hari Shankar and Ajay Digpaul passed the order while dismissing appeals filed by the Bank of Baroda (BoB) and the Punjab National Bank (PNB). The bench held that the "wilful defaulter" declarations were legally unsustainable since the banks had failed to establish, "through verified and objective material, that the transactions in question involved borrowed funds that had been intentionally diverted or siphoned off"."The authorities, at all stages, have to be alive to the fact that a declaration of wilful default, within the meaning of the Master Circular, results in civil death," the bench added that such decisions must be based on the objective facts and circumstances of the case and the borrower's overall track record. The division bench was hearing an appeal against an order passed by a single-judge single-judge bench had held that the essential ingredients of wilful default under the RBI's Master Circular were not met. The banks had then filed the appeals.

Roblox bans predator catcher Schelp after 6 arrests, creator reveals his suicide attempt linked to grooming on platform
Roblox Corporation has sent a cease and desist letter to a creator known as Schelp, who was recognised for confronting alleged predators on the platform. In the letter, Roblox accuses Schelp of engaging in multiple violations of its Terms of Use and Community Standards, including 'simulated child endangerment conversations', 'soliciting or sharing personally identifiable information', and 'encouraging users to move conversations off-platform'. Roblox stated that such conduct bypassed their safety systems and 'increased risks to users'. Schelp's video regarding Roblox's cease and desist letter After he was banned from Roblox, the creator took to his YouTube account, which has over 500k subscribers, to share the news with his fans. Schelp opened his message with urgency: 'This video isn't going to be your typical video… This is actually a call for help, and I need everybody to share this video.' He revealed that The Roblox Corporation sent him a cease and desist letter, threatening litigation against him—a 22-year-old—despite him and his team having gotten six predators arrested from within the Roblox community in the past year. According to Schelp, 'Almost all of them have admitted to doing this before to other Roblox users.' Yet, instead of working with him, Roblox has terminated every account he's had since he was eight years old, including ones actively used to communicate with suspects. 'What Roblox did could potentially stop some predators from facing real-life consequences.' Schelp explained that Roblox accused him of 'engaging in simulated child endangerment conversations.' He countered this, noting that in predator-catching work, decoys play naive kids and avoid initiating sexual talk to prevent entrapment: 'Predators are supposed to be the ones talking sexually to you…' So they teach us about this stuff.' Most chat logs, he emphasised, were on Discord — not Roblox. Roblox also accused him of 'sharing or soliciting personally identifiable information.' Schelp questioned if they meant his practice of turning over predators' details to police: 'Like, does Roblox understand that?' One of the most insulting claims, in Schelp's view, was that he wasn't reporting people quickly enough or to the right outlets: 'Tell me the right outlets. I have been trying to figure this out for, like, a year now.' He cited an example of a Roblox user known as Nepali Incel, who made credible threats to the Las Vegas Sphere in a Roblox game — something Schelp reported both to Roblox and the FBI. Yet, according to him, Roblox never banned that user. Schelp described how he normally reports predators: through Roblox's moderation ticket system, providing the same Google Drive of evidence given to police. But Roblox often fails to act even after felony arrests, leaving him to escalate cases to the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children or the media. He also shared a deeply personal reason for his mission: as a child, he was groomed on Roblox by a popular developer. 'He manipulated me… exposed me to gore and not safe for work material… It was so bad that I actually made an attempt.' His mother contacted Roblox at the time, but they brushed her off, and the predator continued abusing others for years before being banned. Over time, Schelp became increasingly critical of Roblox's leadership. He accused them of ignoring arrests until public pressure forced action, blocking him on social media, and allowing problematic games such as Public Bathroom Simulator and Dollhouse Roleplay. He said, 'Explain to me that Roblox, a kids' platform, now has a whole community of lollicons and MAPs on your platform.' In one recorded confrontation, Schelp addressed a Roblox developer: 'We're about to do the wipe on his phone. Udaipur Files producer says he is receiving death threats after film's release
A day after Udaipur Files was released in theatres across India, producer Amit Jani claimed that he has been receiving 'death threats' over the film. In a X post on Saturday, Jani stated that he has been getting repeated calls from an unknown number, with the caller threatening to kill him with a bomb or shoot him. Jani added that the caller introduced himself as Tabrez, a resident of Bihar. In his post, Jani urged the authorities to register a case against Tabrez and arrest him. Last month, the Central government granted 'Y'-category armed security cover to the Udaipur Files producer in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. It came days after the Supreme Court allowed the producer to approach the police and seek protection as he alleged a threat to his life. Y-category security includes a detail of 8 to 11 personnel, including commandos, to protect the individual around the clock. Udaipur Files was released across India on Friday, August 8, after the Delhi High Court on Thursday gave the go-ahead for its release. It was initially slated for release on July 11, but faced many delays due to censorship and legal troubles. The Supreme Court had directed the Delhi High Court to address challenges against the government's approval of the film's release. Udaipur Files is based on the 2022 murder of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor, who was brutally killed in broad daylight in his shop in Udaipur, Rajasthan, by two men for allegedly sharing a social media post in support of former BJP member Nupur Sharma following her controversial comments on Prophet Mohammed during a debate show on a private news channel. According to police reports from 2022, the prime accused, Mohammad Riaz Attari and Ghaus Mohammad, entered Lal's shop pretending to get clothes stitched before attacking him with a knife and slitting his throat. They recorded the brutal murder and circulated the video on social media, claiming responsibility for the heinous act, which triggered national outrage and raised serious concerns about radicalisation and communal violence. The accused were booked under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, besides provisions under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Initially, the case was probed by the Rajasthan police, but later the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over it. The trial is pending before the special NIA court in Jaipur.
