Louth beauty Caoimhe, the daughter of Irish football manager Stephen Kenny, won the coveted crown at the Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim, Co Meath. The 24-year-old volunteers at Save Our Homeless Dundalk and Hygiene Hub Louth.
Caoimhe, who has been dancing she was five, showed off her skills as part of the talent competition last night. Caoimhe has joined a legacy of inspiring role models including Former Miss World Rosanna Davison and former Miss Irelands - Pamela Flood, Holly Carpenter, Rebecca Maguire, Lauren McDonagh, Aoife O Sullivan, Amanda Brunker, Pamela Uba, Aoife Walsh, Michelle Rocca, Olivia Tracy, current Miss Ireland Jasmine Gerhardt and many more.
In recent years, the Miss Ireland Franchise has raised over €350,000 for various charities including Laura Lynn, Temple Street, Alzheimer's Ireland, Pieta House, The Cari Foundation and The Julian Benson Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The finalists of Miss Ireland are put through their paces in a challenging competitive process testing their skills in debating, public speaking, talent, sports, modelling, social media and each finalist will be tasked with raising much-needed awareness and funds for their chosen charities.

Sylvanian Family toymaker drops lawsuit against Irish social media account
The 'Sylvanian Drama' seems to have come to an end as the Japanese company behind the popular Sylvanian Family toys has dropped its lawsuit against the Irish creator behind the viral sensation. The account, called Sylvanian Drama, is run by Thea Von Engelbrechten from Co Kildare and became massively popular during lockdown. The acccount uses the Sylvanian Families toys to create soap-style storylines, which can often get quite dark and murderous, and has accumulated around 1million followers on Instagram and 2.5million on TikTok. Pic: Sylvanian Families As the page's fame rose, it caught the attention of Epoch, aka the company who first launched Sylvanian Families in 1985, who later filed a lawsuit in New York alleging 'copyright infringement' and 'irreparable injury' to the brand's reputation. Brands such as Marc Jacobs, Sephora, Netflix and Kate Spade, however, were massive fans of the page, collaborating with them on advertising and engaging in sponsorship deals. One of the page's most popular videos, which has more than 3million views on Instagram alone, sees a character be asked if she wants to 'relapse' tonight, but she explains she is happily married with children now. As the page's fame rose, it caught the attention of Epoch, aka the company who first launched Sylvanian Families in 1985. Pic: Sylvanian Families However, when her husband complains that he doesn't like the dinner she made, she goes off to her drug dealer's house, goes to find her ex, and all hell breaks loose. The parody account submitted a defence of 'fair use', with Vincent Allen (the managing partner at Carstens, Allen and Gourley law firm) telling RTÉ News: 'She is introducing these characters in a completely different way than Epoch ever dreamed that they will be used and she's creating entertainment.' 'What is she copying? She's just using their toys in a way that they don't like.' The case was due to go before a judge on August 14, with Epoch dismissing all claims on August 8. The court documents read that the dismissal was 'without prejudice, with each party to bear its own costs, expenses and attorneys' fees.' No details of the settlement were released, but it is understood there will be some changes made to the social media accounts. RTÉ claimed that neither Epoch nor Ms Von Engelberg responded to their request for comment.

KNEECAP display surprise message at Sziget Festival following Hungary ban
'We must stand together,' the message read. 'Oppose Orbán. Oppose Israel. Oppose genocide.' KNEECAP delivered a written message in support of Palestine at the Sziget Festival last night, despite being banned from Hungary and forced to cancel their Sziget set. In a post across their social media last night, the band told festivalgoers to keep an eye out for a message later that evening. They did not provide many details about the message aside from a time and location. 🚨 Hello to all those at Sziget festival, Hungary.🚨 We will have a message for you at 23:05 this evening. 👉The Buzz Stage. — KNEECAP (@KNEECAPCEOL) August 11, 2025 The message was to be displayed between sets at the Buzz Stage just before a performance by English pop artist Casey Lowery. Videos posted online showed a massive crowd gathering to view the message, with many attendees toting Irish and Palestinian flags. 'We wish we could be there with you at one of the best festivals in the world and the first European festival Kneecap ever played,' the message read. 'We can't because of one hate-filled man. Viktor Orbán.' The mention of Orbán's name was met with boos and chants of 'fuck Orbán' from the crowd. 'We have been convicted of zero crimes in any country ever,' the message continued. 'But we will call out oppression. For calling out Israel's genocidal campaign, Viktor has banned us from your beautiful country for 3 years. Israel is committing a genocide against the Palestinian people. Viktor Orbán and his government support it. Viktor Orbán and his government tried to shut down Pride in Budapest. They failed. We must stand together. Oppose Orbán. Oppose Israel. Oppose genocide.' The message concluded with 'free Palestine, tiocfaidh ár lá' as the crowd chanted 'free Palestine.' Following the message, the music video for KNEECAP's latest single 'The Recap' was played on screen. On July 24, a government spokesperson announced the band were prohibited from entering Hungary and performing their planned Sziget set over claims of hate speech. KNEECAP responded to the ban on social media, calling it 'political distraction and a further attempt to silence those who call out genocide against the Palestinian people.' KNEECAP have faced similar criticism and gig cancellations over their outspoken activism for Palestine. They were dropped from the lineup of the TRNSMT festival in Glasgow over safety concerns from local police, the host city of the Rock-en-Seine festival withdrew its funding for the event due to its booking of the band, and most recently, their Vienna gig planned for September 1 was cancelled 'due to acute safety concerns' according to the venue. KNEECAP said the cancellations are part of 'campaigns of attempted censorship' against artists who speak out about Gaza.
