The top minds love the top 40.
If you've wondered which tech titan likes to 'Get His Freak On' to Missy Elliot after a long day coding, or who leaves the senate blasting hardcore emo, we now have the answer.
A new site claims it has been tracking the music tastes of the rich and powerful on streaming services for over a year, publishing the findings Wednesday.

Called Panama Playlists, the site reveals Millennial Veep JD Vance apparently has a Making Dinner list featuring Justin Bieber's One Time and Backstreet Boys 'I Want It That Way'.
But unlike 'YMCA'-loving President Trump, Vance also rocks out with emo group Death Cab for Cutie in his music cabinet, listed on in his 'Gold On the Ceiling' playlist (named for the Black Keys song, a group from his native Ohio), according to the Panama Playlists.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Pam Bondi is a fan of rapper Nelly's early Y2K-era hit 'Hot In Here' plus Foreigner's 'Cold As Ice' — perhaps in a sly nod to Immigration and Customs Enforcement — according to her self-titled Spotify playlist 'Pam.'
And when he's not building AI data fortress Stargate, OpenAI CEO's Sam Altman streams the aforementioned 'Get Your Freak On,' per his 'My Shazam Tracks' on Spotify.

How can the anonymous poster behind the Panama Playlists be sure he's got the correct tech titans, media mavens and political appointees?
'Many use their real names. With a little sleuthing, I could say with near-certainty: yep, this is them,' the anonymous eavesdropper told The Post.

Explaining their methodology further, the project mastermind added: 'An example is Pam Bondi. Her longtime partner is John Wakefield, and her profile has an old playlist called 'john' and an old shared playlist with a user named 'John Wakefield,' so that gives me a lot of confidence it is her account.'
The Panama Playlists poster made clear the project is in no way affiliated with the streaming services it tracked, while Spotify pointed out all its users' playlists are public by default when contacted.
Here are some of the highlights and a few eyebrow raisers from the various lists.
Soothing sounds and soft rock
When House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La), isn't presiding over lawmaker drama, he's apparently listening to the soothing sounds of David Tolk's new age piano composition 'Peace.'
But Johnson turns up the volume for passionate ballads, counting Bryan Adams' 'One Night Love Affair' and Cyndi Lauper's 'All Through The Night,' among his favorites, per his 'liked' tracks on streaming service Pandora.

And while he may not be trying to rock the boat on the house floor, Johnson seems to lean into the yacht rock genre, liking Simple Minds 80's mega hit 'Don't You Forget About Me.'
Alongside rocking out, Vance also has a softer side — a love of Sheryl Crow's 'Strong Enough,' and Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody,' according to Panama Playlists.
Meanwhile beloved 'TODAY' weatherman Al Roker can forecast a flood warning — and jam out to Elton John's 'Philadelphia Freedom,' his No. 1 song played a whopping 151 times on Spotify. The upbeat anchor also apparently loves the eclectic rocker's 'Are You Ready for Love,' which he played 75 times in the last year.
Running the world – on Beyonce
White House Press Secretary and mom Karoline Leavitt is apparently part of the Bey Hive, liking Beyonce's girl power anthem 'Run The World (Girls),' as the top hit on her alleged 'Baby Shower' playlist.

And while Leavitt called out Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) for not answering a 'courtesy' call giving him a heads-up about airstrikes on Iran, the pair can certainly agree on Queen Bey.

Jeffries listed Bey's 'Diva' on his 'Galentine's' day playlist, which also includes 'Love On Top,' by the pop super star on Spotify.
Politics and pop princesses
Jacob Helberg, President's Trump's pick for undersecretary of state for growth, energy and the environment, is apparently as invested in Chappell Roan and Charli XCX as today's Gen Z and millennial concert go-ers. (A stark juxtaposition from husband, Keith Rabois', house heavy love of Deadmau5's 'When Summer Dies').
Helberg's top song in the last year is 'Apple' by pop sensation Charli XCX and at No. 2, followed by Roan's 'Femininomenon,' according to the Panama Playlists.

Helberg isn't the only fan of today's pop stars, Arizona congresswoman Yassamin Ansari apparently favors Gracie Abrams' hits 'Risk' and 'That's So True.'
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi is also a fan of Roan's camp pop hit 'Hot 2 Go,' according to the Panama Playlists.
Silicon Valley gets freaky
Altman's love of Missy Elliott is equally as intriguing as Ben Horowitz's 'Good Time' playlist — which features Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On' and Anita Baker's soulful 'Sweet Love.'
Meanwhile, Palmer Luckey, cofounder of defense company Anduril, counts mid-2000s bops like Kelly Clarkson's 'Since U Been Gone' and Hillary Duff's 'So Yesterday' among his favorite hits.

Ever the disco lover, Stripe CEO Patrick Collison has a full '80's' playlist, with The Pointer Sisters' 'I'm So Excited,' and a remix of Donna Summer's smash hit 'Bad Girls.'
Canceled and controversial
San Francisco mayor Daniel Lurie keeps Nazi-loving rapper Kanye West's 'Power' on his apparent Peloton Playlist, per the Panama Playlists.
But he also keeps tracks more in line with his worldview, with Donald Glover's 'This Is America,' about racism and gun violence also included.

Ukrainian officials arrested in ‘large scale' drone bribery scheme

At least four Ukrainian officials have been arrested in a 'large-scale corruption scheme' involving the purchase of drones designed to defend Kyiv against Russia, President Volodymyr Zelensky said. Just three days after Zelensky restored the independence of Ukrainian's top anti-corruption agencies following fierce public backlash, the prez said the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor's Office unveiled a plot by a sitting lawmaker, two local officials and several national guard service members to skim money meant to defend their nation. 'The essence of the scheme was to conclude state contracts with supplier companies at deliberately inflated prices,' the agencies added Saturday in a statement, noting the kickbacks to the officials were up to 30% of the contracts' inflated costs. UKRAINIAN PRESIDENTIAL PRESS SERVICE/AFP via Getty Images The plot involved heads of district and city military civil administrations who allegedly helped cook the books on the purchases of drones and electronic jamming equipment — vital tools used to intercept the ever-escalating bombardments from Ukraine's Russian invaders. Drones have proven to be key to Ukraine's attacks on Moscow, too, with the majority of Ukrainian attacks on Russian military assets involving UAVs, including a recent overnight strike on an oil depot. Advertisement 'Unfortunately, these corruption schemes involved the procurement of electronic warfare systems and FPV drones. … There must be full and fair accountability for this,' Zelensky said on social media. 'There can only be zero tolerance for corruption. Clear teamwork to expose corruption and, as a result, a just sentence,' he said. 4 The scheme involved a Ukrainian lawmaker, two local officials and National Guard Service members, authorities said. REUTERS Advertisement While Ukrainian officials did not name the suspects in the case, the president said four people have been arrested so far. Ukraine's Interior Ministry added that the National Guard personnel implicated in the scheme were removed from their positions as the prosecutor's office moves forward with the case. The arrests come after the independence of NABU and SAPO were secured Thursday following nationwide protests over Zelensky ratifying a bill that would have put a political appointee in charge of the agencies. 4 The procurement of the jamming equipment used to defend Ukraine from Russia's ever-escalating missile and drone attacks also was involved in the bribery plot. via REUTERS Advertisement While Zelensky initially defended the move as a means to weed out Russian influence in the agencies, he later agreed to let the agencies operate as they were. NABU and SAPO were born following Ukraine's Revolution of Dignity in 2014, which called for a major clean up of Kyiv after ousting pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych, whose administration was marred in corruption. The agencies have previously targeted some of Zelensky's close allies, including former Deputy Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov, with the cases often causing major shakeups in Kyiv while its leadership tries to focus on the war. Critics have warned Zelensky that ongoing corruption undermines Ukraine's ability to fight back against Russia, as well as threatens the country's hopes of joining the European Union. Hochul warns that ‘pathetic' Stefanik is just Trump lemming

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Sunday blasted 'pathetic' GOP potential election foe Elise Stefanik as someone who would give President Trump nearly unfettered power over the state if governor. Hochul, a Democrat, warned that the president, who grew up in New York, has his sights set on helping a Republican become governor. 'If a Republican gets elected as governor against me, think about the power that Donald Trump will have over everything in the state, including the city,' Hochul warned on ABC 7's 'Up Close with Bill Ritter. 'That's what should give people great pause,' she said. The governor seemed amused that Trump appeared to intervene in New York GOP politics to encourage Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) not to run against her. 4 Gov. Kathy Hochul on Sunday argued that her expected GOP rival will be a puppet for President Trump. Hans Pennink 4 Upstate GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik has been a fierce critic of Hochul's performance. Getty Images She also swiped at Stefanik, an upstate congresswoman who is widely expected to throw her hat into the 2026 gubernatorial ring, accusing her of playing rough and tumble politics. Last week, in the wake of the deadly Midtown massacre in which a sicko fatally gunned down four people, including an NYPD officer, Stefanik spotlighted a 2020 social-media post from Democratic Socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani who said the NYPD is 'racist, anti-queer & a major threat to public safety.' 'Flashback : Kathy Hochul's very own Commie Mamdani A disgrace and truly unfit to be Mayor of NYC,' Stefanik wrote in the post. 4 The Midtown massacre gunman carried his rifle in plain view before Monday's heinous attack. Obtained by NY Post Hochul fired back Sunday, 'It's pathetic and especially in the time when we're a city that's in mourning, to be taking cheap shots and trying to infer that he had something to do with this,' the governor swiped. 'I mean, come on.' While Hochul is the favorite heading into 2026, Republicans have overperformed in several state elections in recent years. In 2022, for example, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin lost to Hochul by about 6.4 percentage points. Hochul also re-upped her well-worn push to ban so-called 'assault rifles' and noted how the gunman trekked down from Nevada to unleash upon innocent people in New York City. 'Why do we even allow these weapons of mass destruction to be sold anywhere in America? Other countries have completely banned them,' the governor said. 'Why can't Congress and the president step up and say, 'This is it, no more?' ' The gunman, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, carried an M4 rifle while marching into the building to unleash fire, according to the cops. Hochul argued it takes 'political courage' to enact gun control and appealed to Trump. 4 President Trump has helped clear a path for Elise Stefanik to apparently run for governor in his home state, New York. AP 'I'd be willing to make the case,' she said. 'And you know how important this is. You never know what's going to be a breakthrough. 'This is President Trump's hometown. He knows these streets. He knows these buildings. And so does anyone who might understand the incredible vulnerability that people and they're going to their jobs every single day in Midtown.'

‘Stop demonizing us': Judges beg White House to dial down ‘irresponsible rhetoric' over fears of political violence

A group of federal judges has pleaded with U.S. leaders to cool off with attacks on members of the judicial system, following a rise in the number and severity of intimidation and death threats. In a judicial forum hosted by the group Speak Up for Justice, several judges spoke about their personal experiences of receiving hatred and harassment and urged those at the top to stop using 'irresponsible rhetoric.' It comes after President Donald Trump's consistent attacks on the legal system, which have intensified since returning to office. The president has claimed the justice system has been 'weaponized' against him and blamed the Democrats for using what he calls 'lawfare.' Recently Trump and his allies have lashed out against judges including James Boasberg who had blocked the administration's efforts to deport Venezuelan nationals to El Salvador. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Monday that her office had filed a misconduct complaint against Boasberg. Though Trump was not mentioned specifically by name, attacks were being led from the 'top down' by White House spokespeople, according to Esther Salas, a District Court judge in New Jersey. Salas noted that state-level judges, as well as federal judges, were now being targeted. 'The fix check is so easy in some ways, right, because what we need is our political leaders from the top down to stop fanning these flames, to stop using irresponsible rhetoric, to stop referring to judges as corrupt and biased and monsters that hate America. We need our leaders to lead responsibly,' Salas said at the virtual forum on Thursday. 'Stop demonizing us, stop villainizing us, because what they're doing when they do that irresponsible rhetoric is they are inviting people to do us harm… because our leaders are calling us idiots and deranged, and monsters.' Salas gave an emotional address to the forum, noting that this month had marked the fifth anniversary of her son Daniel's death. The 20-year-old was killed while celebrating his birthday in 2020 shooting by a gunman who had intended to kill his mother. 'So we just need civility,' Salas said. 'If you're a leader in this country. Lead responsibly. That's all we're asking.' She also thanked the other judges, on behalf of her son and family, for speaking out about their experiences. 'I know it wasn't something you wanted to do,' she said. Paul R. Kiesel, who moderated Thursday's forum, added that such attacks from higher-ups was 'unprecedented.' 'This has never happened before… this isn't just another cycle of criticism,' he said. 'This is unprecedented. We're coming out here today because this has never happened in this country before.' The Independent has contacted the White House for comment. In a statement shared with Politico a White House spokesperson said: 'Attacks against public officials, including judges, have no place in our society and President Trump knows all too well the impact of callous attacks having faced two assassination attempts.'
