Longhorns to host Julian Caldwell for official visit
Longhorns to host Julian Caldwell for official visit Julian Caldwell includes Texas on his recruiting tour
When the calendar flips to June, the Texas Longhorns will be busy welcoming recruits to campus for visits. That list now includes Julian Caldwell. The four-star wide receiver will be on campus June first. It will be the first trip of what is expected to be a busy month for Caldwell.
After his stop in Austin, Caldwell will visit with the SMU Mustangs on June 2. He is then scheduled to meet with LSU on June 12 and Oregon on June 18th. The heavy interest in Caldwell is no surprise. He is ranked as the No. 9 wideout in the 2027 class and is the No. 11 ranked prospect in Texas, according to On3.
During his sophomore campaign, Caldwell hauled in 21 receptions for 581 yards and found the end zone seven times. With him as a vocal part of the offense, Argyle High School made it to the 2024 UIL Texas Football State Championship semifinals in conference 5A D2.
If the Longhorns can land Caldwell, he would join a program that has been a wide receiver factory. Over the last two years, the Longhorns have developed Xavier Worth and Matthew Golden into NFL Draft picks. They are also set to welcome back Ryan Wingo, who has shown flashes of promise in his college career. Caldwell has the potential to be the next success story.
The Longhorns' only commitment in the 2027 class is four-star linebacker Taven Epps. Adding Caldwell would give Dia Bell or Arch Manning a weapon to rely on. Caldwell's decision is still months away, and the Longhorns 2027 class will look very different.
With recruiting season far from over, Caldwell still has many options to consider. However, it is a good sign for the Longhorns that he is visiting campus. It will be a chance for Steve Sarkisian to show Caldwell what his future holds if he decides to join the Longhorns.

Elite 2027 QB to attend Texas Elite Camp
Elite 2027 QB to attend Texas Elite Camp The Texas Longhorns are hosting an Elite Camp in Austin on Sunday. One of the top signal callers in the nation will be in attendance per Horns247. The individual is four-star quarterback Gunner Rivers, a 2027 prospect, who is the son of former NFL quarterback Phillip Rivers. Rivers is one of the highest-rated prospects in the country. 247Sports has him as the No. 24 recruit nationally and the No. 2 quarterback in the country. The 6-foot-3.5, 205-pounder is the No. 1 prospect in the state of Alabama as well. The SEC and ACC make up the five offers that Rivers has on the table at the moment. They include Auburn, Boston College, Miami, South Carolina, and NC State, which is where his father went to school. Over the past two seasons, Rivers has put up some gaudy numbers for St. Michael Catholic High School. He threw for 3,077 yards and 29 touchdowns with just four interceptions as a freshman in 2023. He was even more productive in his sophomore campaign with 3,947 yards and 36 scores to just six interceptions. Rivers also ran for two touchdowns in both seasons. Rivers won't be the only quarterback that Texas will evaluate on Sunday. Four-star prospects Colton Nussmeier, Houston and Malachi Zeigler will be on campus as well as three-star recruit Jerry Meyer. It's pretty safe to say that if Rivers impresses the Longhorns then an offer will soon follow. Blue-chip CB names Texas in top five schools
Texas has eight commitments in its 2026 recruiting class. They have one cornerback in four-star Hayward Howard Jr. who committed earlier this month. The Longhorns are also heavily in play for another cornerback in four-star Justice Fitzpatrick as he named them in his top five schools this week. Fitzpatrick plays at powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and has 43 total offers. He's the nation's No. 62 overall player and the No. 7 cornerback per On3's industry rankings. They have him as the No. 11 prospect in the state of Florida as well. Advertisement It was a very productive junior campaign for Fitzpatrick in 2024. He racked up 34 tackles, two interceptions, and seven pass breakups as he aided St. Thomas Aquinas when the Florida 5A state championship. He also received Junior All-American honors from MaxPreps. Fitzpatrick hasn't spent a lot time in Austin with just an unofficial visit taken this April. However, he has an official visit locked in for June 13, which gives the Longhorns and opportunity to separate themselves from the pack.
