AUS hosts group Iftar for SSEF orphans

This comes in commitment to social responsibility and to promote the spirit of community solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.
A Gathering of Compassion and Community Spirit
The event featured a unique Ramadan atmosphere, as members of the Foundation met with university representatives and a number of volunteers in an environment that reflected the values
of giving and compassion that characterise the holy month.
During the iftar, the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation emphasised the importance of such events in supporting the families and engaging them in a social atmosphere that instills in them a sense of belonging and love.
Strengthening Social Partnerships
Nawal Al Hamdi, Director of the Social Welfare Department, stated: 'The American University of Sharjah's participation in the 'Fitrhum' project reflects the depth of the community partnership between the Foundation and the University. Such initiatives leave a positive impact on the souls of orphans and their families, and enhance their sense of support and care from the community. It embodies the values
of giving and community solidarity during the holy month.
She continued: 'We at the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation believe that supporting our members is not limited to material aspects, but extends to include providing a warm social environment that enhances their sense of belonging and love. The group iftar initiative is part of the 'Fitrhom' project. It reflects the community's commitment to social responsibility, a step that the Foundation appreciates due to its significant positive impact on the souls of our children and their families, which positively reflects on their psychological and social stability. We look forward to more community engagement that supports our children's social empowerment journey.
She concluded: "The Foundation also welcomed a number of community contributions to the "Fitrhum" project, as a number of entities have interacted with the project since the campaign's launch, and a group of hotels and restaurants have responded by hosting families and providing them with free iftar meals."
AUS Commitment to Community Service
For its part, the American University of Sharjah expressed its pride in participating in this initiative, as Shaima Bin Taliah, Vice Chancellor for Student Experience, said: 'Under the slogan 'Unity in Giving,' the American University of Sharjah organised a charitable iftar that brought together its students, employees, and its community partners from various charitable institutions, which comes within the framework of the university's keenness to embody the values
of benevolence and community solidarity, and reflects its deep commitment to contributing to serving the community during the holy month of Ramadan, which reflects the cohesion of society. All segments cooperated in an atmosphere of brotherhood and love.
She continued: "We are proud to organise this event, which contributes to strengthening relations between the various segments of the local community and reflects the spirit of cooperation and solidarity that characterises the holy month. We emphasise the importance of these initiatives in promoting the values
of giving and compassion. Providing everyone with the opportunity to participate in embodying the sublime meanings of Ramadan.'
For her part, she expressed her appreciation to all of our partners in this event, including the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, which supports an important segment of society, with the aim of empowering them in various aspects. Today, we join forces to build a more cohesive society.
A Campaign Rooted in Giving
The "Ramadan Zakat" campaign is one of the annual initiatives launched by the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, with the aim of providing support to fatherless children and their families during the holy month, through the "Iftarhum" project.
