The meeting also emphasised for the availability of adequate stock of medicines, including anti-snake venom.
The minister also called for the speedy appointment of medical staff, and instructed that additional beds be arranged in hospitals across Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki districts.
It decided that the Konni Medical College will serve as the base hospital and be upgraded with more facilities. A comprehensive control room will function at Pampa Hospital.

Devaswom vigilance wing must inspect all food outlets in Sabarimala at least once a week, Kerala HC
Kochi: High court has ordered that the vigilance wing of Travancore devaswom board (TDB) must conduct regular inspections, at least once a week, in all hotels, restaurants, tea stalls and similar establishments during the Mandala-Makaravilakku season in Sabarimala. The court was considering a petition filed by the Akhila Bharatheeya Ayyappa Seva Sangam, seeking a directive to govt officials to ensure that food and beverages served at Sabarimala and Erumeli are hygienic and that no noxious substances or contaminated water are used or distributed to pilgrims, even if provided free of cost. Expressing concern over allegations that some food stalls in Erumeli had been preparing food in unhealthy and unhygienic conditions, unnoticed by any of the authorities deployed at Sabarimala during the festive season, the court said it was bewildered and dismayed. The bench of Justices Raja Vijayaraghavan and K V Jayakumar further directed that, before the commencement of each festive season, the govt shall ensure meetings of the various agencies and instrumentalities deployed at Sabarimala to guarantee the availability of safe drinking water and hygienic food. Hospital staff booked for raising salary issue with Kerala health min
Kozhikode: Manjeri police have registered case against identifiable temporary staff of the Manjeri Govt Medical College Hospital for trying to raise the issue of their two-month salary dues with health minister Veena George. They were booked on the grounds that that they made a commotion and caused a situation with the potential for conflict when the minister visited the hospital on Aug 12. The temporary staff had gathered at the hospital when the minister arrived at the hospital after an inaugural function to visit a patient and raised the issue on unpaid salaries with the minister. There was a commotion when CPM and DYFI activists who were along with the minister tried to prevent the staff from publicly raising the issue with the minister. Police registered the case on the petition by medical college principal K K Anil Raj, who said that during the minister's visit a group of temporary employees made a commotion in violation of the instructions of hospital staff, thereby causing a situation with the potential for conflict. The employees have been booked under BNS sections 189 (2), 191 (2), 192 and 190. "We were present at the spot and the employees had not created any kind of tension. They were telling the minister about the hardships they were facing due to non-payment of salaries. The commotion was created following an attempt by CPM and DYFI activists to push and remove the employees from the spot," he added. Medical college principal Dr Anil Raj said that though the employees had the right to raise their demand with the minister, it ought not to have been done by trying to create a ruckus.
