Aberdeen defender calls for 'shameful' thug who injured Jack MacKenzie to own up to authorities
Aberdeen defender Slobodan Rubezic has urged the 'shameful' thug who hit Jack MacKenzie with a seat at Tannadice to own up to the authorities.
Full-back MacKenzie required stitches after being hit on the head by a piece of seat thrown from within the Aberdeen support in the upper deck of the Fair Play stand.
MacKenzie received treatment on the pitch after the 2-1 loss to Dundee United, where there was a pitch-invasion by home fans at the final whistle.
He was taken off the pitch in a wheelchair with his bloodied head bandaged.
Both clubs are working in conjunction with Police Scotland to find the culprit.
Currently on loan at Serbian top-flight Novi Pazar, centre-back Rubezic says the supporter involved is 'ruining the great image of Aberdeen fans' and should be ashamed.
Rubezic said: 'If you have enough courage to throw anything, come forward and admit you did it, don't hide.
'There is no justification for something like this.
'Everyone understands frustration and everything related to it – but don't do this.
'Hurting someone like this makes no sense at all.
'He has a family as well and is sad like you with this act.
'You're ruining the image of great Aberdeen fans and supporters and is it very shameful to judge and comment, and allow individuals to tarnish players, coaches – anyone who holds a position in the club.'
Aberdeen released a statement calling for fans who witnessed the incident to contact the club with any information which may help assist further discussions with authorities.
Police Scotland have also appealed for anyone who saw what happened or has mobile phone footage of the incident to get in contact.
Posting on Instagram, Rubezic said: 'Everyone has the right to express their frustration and dissatisfaction with the results or performance of the players.
'But there is a cultural way for that and the right way to express your frustration.
'Because every player or anyone who works for the club has the best intention and wants the best for the club he works for and from whom he eats.
'My first example is captain Shinnie and some situations related to him and again each of the players return your love and respect.
'So, for me, anyone who hits a player should be publicly ashamed and be ashamed of his home upbringing.
'Think before you want to do anything – don't be stupid!!!'

The desperate search to find the missing teen had gone on for over four weeks. His family have now broken their silence to confirm Cole had been found. In a heartbreaking tribute on Facebook, his auntie Aimee Tennie said the family's "worst fears have become reality". And said they never gave up hope during the search. The post, on behalf of the family, read: "Cole. Our boy. We fought for you for almost five weeks. "Why? How? So many questions… and still, no answers. "With shattered hearts, we share the devastating news that our beloved Cole, who was missing, has been found but not in the way we hoped or prayed for. "Our worst fears have become reality and we are now living a nightmare we can't wake up from. "We never gave up, and we will never give up, not until we have the answers. The fight for truth, for justice, and for Cole is not over. A major search was launched to find Cole, with specialist units, drones, divers and helicopters all called in. Dedicated officers were assigned to lead the hunt for Cole as his devastated family pled for answers. Cops revealed they had scoured over 2,000 hours of CCTV to find him. Hundreds of volunteers had even came out to help the family search the area where he went missing. A Police Scotland spokesperson said on Friday: "Around 4.15pm on Friday, 6 June, 2025, the body of a man was discovered in a wooded area near Kilsyth Road in Banknock. "Formal identification has yet to take place however the family of missing man Cole Cooper, 19, has been informed. "Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

On May 15 this year, Brown was arrested at the Lowry Hotel in Salford. He had recently jetted into nearby Manchester Airport to rehearse for his upcoming Breezy Bowl XX 20th anniversary tour. The singer has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm. He was initially denied bail and is expected to appear in person at Southwark Crown Court next month. District Judge Joanna Hirst told the court that the charge was too serious to be dealt with at the magistrates ' court. However, the 36-year-old star was later granted bail following a court plea. He was ordered to pay a £5 million security fee to the court. The financial guarantee is to ensure a defendant returns to court and may be forfeited if they breach bail conditions. His lawyer, Grace Forbes, had argued that he was a public figure known worldwide as they pleaded for bail to be granted. As well as his Amsterdam performance, Brown is scheduled to perform in cities across the UK, including Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Cardiff. Despite his arrest, Brown's bail conditions enable him to continue with his scheduled international tour this year, including in the UK later this month and July. Ross Doohan ditches family holiday to answer Scotland call for keeper cover
Scotland head coach Steve Clarke revealed Ross Doohan cut short his holiday to answer a goalkeeping emergency. Doohan was on a family trip to Turkey after being part of Aberdeen's Scottish Cup-winning squad but took a detour to Liechtenstein after Angus Gunn and Robby McCrorie suffered injuries on Friday. Those blows saw 22-year-old Cieran Slicker handed a debut in the seventh minute against Iceland and the Ipswich player endured a difficult night as Scotland lost 3-1. The Under-21 international quickly conceded after giving the ball away himself and lost two more soft goals as he struggled with the occasion. With Craig Gordon, Liam Kelly and Zander Clark already unavailable through injury, Clarke has turned to Doohan for experienced cover. The 27-year-old has been called up along with 18-year-old Bournemouth keeper Callan McKenna – who was already training with the squad – for Monday's friendly in Vaduz. Clarke, who has also lost Scott McTominay and Kieran Tierney to injury, succinctly explained the logistics of his late call-up: 'Phone call. Are you available? Yes. Can you get a flight? Yes. And there he was, in the hotel. 'He'd been away with his family. It says everything, but a chance to join up with the national squad is not something you turn down, not in my book anyway.' Clarke would not divulge who will play in goal in the Rheinpark Stadium but he appears ready to hand Doohan a debut, citing the 'good experience' of a player who has turned out for the likes of Ayr, Ross County, Dundee United, Tranmere and Forest Green. 'One of the things we were trying to find was somebody who'd trained pretty late into the season, so obviously Ross had been involved in the cup final not that long ago, so it's not as if he's going to be deconditioned or out of practice.' Clarke has tried to build Slicker's confidence after a difficult introduction to international football. 'Obviously we've touched on it,' he said. 'Listen, everybody makes a big thing about Cieran. If you play a young goalkeeper, there's a chance he'll make mistakes. 'If you go through the three goals, we should have dealt much better with the two set plays. 'The first one's a clearance on his weaker foot that doesn't quite clear the boy in midfield. When the ball comes to the two blocks, we allow the striker to turn and shoot, and nobody was saving that shot because it was a great finish. So that's just the way it is. 'Cieran's a good goalkeeper. Trains well, works well in the camp when he's in. He's just had an unfortunate night. 'He'll bounce back from it, he'll do well at his club. He needs to play more games, he knows that. He needs to play more games regularly, but he's got a big future in front of him.' Clarke is set to make changes after Friday's defeat left them in dire need of a win to restore confidence ahead of the World Cup qualifiers. 'The team will be freshened up a little bit,' he said. 'Probably a little bit more than I normally do. More than one anyway. 'Scott and Kieran both came into camp carrying some little issues over from the season. I think if we'd had a longer turnaround between the games they might have had a chance, but this is the end of season for those two. 'The most important thing is to have a good rest over the summer and come back flying in the autumn.'
