#SHOWBIZ: A. Aida creates special role for Dharma in new telemovie

KUALA LUMPUR: The difficult situation of veteran actor Dharma Harun Al Rashid has prompted TV producer A. Aida to adapt the script of her upcoming telemovie to include him in the project.
According to a report in Berita Harian yesterday, Aida, 55, who established A Aida Production, offered Dharma the role of a father in her telemovie, Kisah Cinta Kau & Aku.
"I was really touched when I heard about his current circumstances," she was quoted as saying in the report.
"I know Dharma is a very talented actor, and coincidentally, my production company was preparing a new script for a telempvie.
"So, I asked for the script to be reworked to create a special character just for him. This character was originally intended for an actress, to play a mother.
"Now, we'll have a father in that role instead."
Aida recently visited the 68-year-old actor at his home in Wangsa Maju, here, to offer him the part in her new production.
Dharma had previously spoken of his struggle, lamenting that he hadn't been offered any acting work for the past three years.
He had expressed that he would be grateful for any offer that would allow him to earn an income and support his family.
"I thought Aida had simply come to visit because she was concerned about my condition," he said.
"But it turns out she also brought some good news. At my age, I didn't think there were still people who would believe in me and be willing to give me a chance."
In addition to Dharma, Kisah Cinta Kau & Aku will also feature Aniq Suhair and Azeva Natassha.

#SHOWBIZ: Dharma's family can continue living in their rented house

KUALA LUMPUR: Thanks to public donations, veteran actor Dharma Harun Al-Rashid and his two children, Siti Qurratu Aini and Muhammad Al Syafiq, can continue living in their Wangsa Maju home in Kuala Lumpur after their rent arrears were settled. Syafiq explained that after negotiating with their landlord, they were allowed to stay despite a slight rent increase. "We recently contacted the landlord about the rent payment because so many people had donated to help us pay it off. "With that money, we were able to clear several months of arrears and even pay a few months in advance. "The landlord raised the rent a little, but we understood why. He also understood our story after it went viral, and he was kind enough to allow us to stay here," Syafiq told BH Online. Previously, Syafiq had posted on Instagram, asking the landlord for understanding while they tried to settle the payments. Last June, Dharma's family's struggle to pay their rent came to light. The hardships faced by the actor, who starred in the 1980s film 'Adik Manja', went viral after a video showed his declining health. It was also reported that Dharma had not been offered acting roles for three years. Syafiq expressed gratitude that the family's struggles received so much attention, allowing them to remain in their home. "I'm so thankful for the public's donations. Most people who came to our house donated, and it really helped us. "Now that the arrears are settled, we'll take steps to pay next month's rent to make things easier," he said. Syafiq is also happy that his father is starting to receive job offers. "My father has received an acting offer from producer Datuk A Aida. I also have a few other acting jobs, so God willing, this will help our family," he said. It was reported that Aida offered Dharma a one-year, monthly job to ease his financial burden. However, the founder of A Aida Production said that the offer was contingent on Dharma's performance in the telefilm 'Kisah Cinta Kau & Aku', which is scheduled to begin filming on Aug 15.

KUALA LUMPUR: Award-winning singer-songwriter Hael Husaini Razmi has long been an avid fan of Biduanita Negara Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, considering her his ultimate role model. In a recent interview with Berita Harian, Hael said that Siti has always set a high benchmark for him and his fellow artistes, and he constantly strives to achieve her level of excellence in music. "I always look up to the best, and Tok Ti isn't just the best at singing and entertaining; she also carries herself with the grace of a superstar," Hael said. "What I've learned from her is to push myself to be better every day, work extremely hard, always connect with my fans, maintain a wholesome image, and remain humble." Hael added that another important lesson he learned from Siti was the importance of looking after one's health. For this reason, he has ensured he is in peak condition for his upcoming concert on Saturday. "While I push myself to be better than I was yesterday, I never forget to stay fit and strong so I can give my fans my absolute best," he said. Ahmad Aslam: Polygamy is hard when you are young

Compiled by FAZLEENA AZIZ, and R. ARAVINTHAN I LUENCER Ahmad Aslam admitted that polygamy is difficult for him at a young age, Berita Harian reported. Aslam, whose full name is Ahmad Aslam Kasyfun Nazir Rashid, 25, said this was because he had to please many people. He sparked controversy when he married two women, one of whom was Marissa Dania, the daughter of actor Norman Hakim and ex-wife Abby Abadi. 'It's difficult, actually quite difficult. I can't comment further and in detail. I'm worried that this matter involves the sensitivities of many people,' he said at an event recently. Aslam married his first wife, Umisya Mazlan, in July 2020. The couple divorced in September 2023, before reconciling later. They have three children. He married Marissa in Songkhla, Thailand, on Dec 27, 2023. Aslam revealed that many of his followers asked him for advice on living a polygamous life each time when he went live on social media. > Residents of Pulau Aur near Mersing, Johor, are appealing for a free boat service to the island, Kosmo! reported. Most of them are forced to fork out at least RM220 each for the service presently. Hatasa Rabudin, 40, who lives in Mersing town, said the high cost of travel prevents him from visiting his mother, who resides on the island, more frequently. 'During the festive period, we have to fork out up to RM7,000 just to rent a ferry, which is shared with relatives who want to head back to the island,' he said. Kampung Pulau Aur Village Safety and Development Committee chairman Sabinah Md Salleh said the request for free boat service was justified as many were dependent on micro agriculture and seafood business.
