Jaipur:
, the left-arm spinner from Sri Ganganagar in northwest Rajasthan, is not a familiar face at the Indian Premier League, a springboard for the emerging talent. Signed by
for Rs 20 lakh in 2024 and re-signed for Rs 30 lakh in 2025, he has played just one game in 2024, where his performance faded into the high-octane spotlight.

A handful of balls, no standout wickets, and a fleeting presence.
Ordinary at best.
But beneath the surface of those quiet outings lies a player brimming with promise. Manav grew up spinning a cricket ball through the dusty streets of his small town, dreaming beyond the desert's edge. His left-arm orthodox spin, sharp and quick, turned heads in Rajasthan's age group circuits.
Coming from a lower-middle class background, Manav's father Jagdeesh Suthar, a physical education teacher in a private school, backed him to play cricket.
The youngster was 12 when his father enrolled him in the district cricket association's academy which provided him with every necessary support.
By 2021, at 19, he stepped onto the first-class stage for Rajasthan against Andhra in the
. Unfazed, he claimed 44 wickets in his first eight matches, four four-wicket hauls, two five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket match hauls.
The 2022–23 Ranji season cemented his name with 39 wickets in six games.
His coach Dheeraj Sharma shares that Manav is sincere towards his goals, but when VVS Laxman told him that he is being 'looked at', the 22-year-old disciplined himself further.
"At NCA in 2022-23, VVS Laxman told him that we are looking at you and if you continue doing well in the Ranji Trophy, you will be picked for India A. His motivation increased a lot after that," Manav's coach told TOI.
Manav's bat added another chapter.

In Duleep Trophy 2024-25, he scored 82 for India C against India B, anchoring a faltering lineup. Weeks later, an unbeaten 96 against Puducherry in the Ranji Trophy showcased his nerve. His seven-wicket haul (7/49) against India D in the Duleep Trophy proved he could swing games single-handedly.
What makes Manav stand out? "He is a left-arm spinner in the classical mould. What differentiates him from others is his straight-arm action.
His batting is also his strength," Dheeraj added.
His journey took him from a Gujarat Titans net bowler in 2022 to the 2023 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, where he debuted for India A, and a tour to South Africa. Every step showcased his hunger.
Now, in 2025, a new stage beckons. Manav has earned a spot in the India A squad for England, set to play two unofficial Tests against
(May 30–June 2 and June 6–9) and a practice match against India's senior team (June 13–16).

Read More India A vs England Lions Live Score, 2nd Unofficial Test: KL Rahul will turn out for India 'A' in their second red-ball game against England Lions, starting in Northampton on June 6. KL Rahul had travelled to England ahead of the main Indian squad to acclimatise to the conditions before the five-Test series. KL Rahul had requested the BCCI to allow him to participate in the second India A game against England Lions. It's not the first time that Rahul, now the side's senior most batter with 58 caps, after the retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will be turning out for India 'A' ahead of an important overseas Test tour. Last year, shortly after India lost the third Test to New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and suffered an unprecedented 3-0 series defeat at home, Rahul and wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel flew to Melbourne to turn out for India 'A' in their red-ball game against Australia 'A' at the MCG ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. With Rahul having scored two centuries as an opener on Test tours of England, his experience at the top will be very vital for India to navigate the challenge of facing the moving ball in the initial stage of an innings and then set a total to challenge the ultra-attacking batting style of the Ben Stokes-led side. Karnataka High Court grants protection from arrest to Karnataka cricket body

The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted protection from arrest to officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) who petitioned the Court to quash the case filed against the KSCA management and its senior officials in connection with the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede in Bengaluru on June 4. Eleven people lost their lives and 56 others were injured in the tragic stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, which occurred after a massive crowd gathered to welcome the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team following their Indian Premier League (IPL) victory — the team's first in 18 years. 'I'm still heavily committed to Delhi Capitals': Mitchell Starc reacts after leaving IPL 2025 midway

Mitchell Starc (image credit: BCCI/IPL) NEW DELHI: Mitchell Starc remains 'heavily committed' to Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League, but admitted that 'time will tell the repercussions' of his decision not to return for the remainder of the tournament, unlike some of his Australian teammates. The pacer opted out of the IPL's resumption on May 17, following a 10-day break triggered by Operation Sindoor — a military response to Pakistan-backed terrorists killing 26 civilians in Pahalgam. Starc, who played a key role in Delhi Capitals' bowling attack with 14 wickets in 11 games, last featured in the May 8 clash against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala. That match was abandoned after the stadium lights went out abruptly. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! His wife and Australia Women's team captain Alyssa Healy was also present at the stadium when the match was halted and an urgent evacuation was ordered due to Dharamsala's proximity to the international border. Starc revealed he had apprehensions before taking the field in that game between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings amid growing tensions. 'I'm comfortable with my decision and how I felt about the whole situation and how it was handled,' Starc was quoted as saying by The Age. 'That's why I made my decision post-that, and my focus changed to red-ball cricket for about a week prior to coming over here (the UK).' 'Time will tell with repercussions or how it looks with guys that didn't return. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo But I've had my questions and concerns leading into that game, and obviously we saw what happened, which played a part in my decision,' he said. Citing similar concerns, Starc had earlier chosen not to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy with the Australian squad. 'There was a little bit of that to my decision around the Champions Trophy (in Pakistan) and then once the tournament (IPL) was delayed, you start to think about guys' preparation for the Test match,' he said, referring to Australia's upcoming World Test Championship final against South Africa at Lord's starting June 11. 'Daring, Dynamic, Different': Ponting hails PBKS young guns despite final loss Starc also pointed out that the situation in Dharamsala was handled differently across teams and individuals. Both teams and the broadcast crew were evacuated to Delhi from Pathankot via a special train. 'Things were handled differently for different players and different teams, the guys up in Dharamsala, the Punjab guys were part of that, and while both teams had similar experiences up there, all those guys returned for Punjab, and Jake (Fraser-McGurk) and I chose not to,' he said. 'It was a very individual decision, and I'm happy to live with whatever comes of that.' 'I'm still heavily committed to the Delhi group, and I'm not someone that's gone into tournaments and pulled out after being picked up in an auction or whatever that looks like. These are different circumstances,' he added. Starc, who was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders' title-winning campaign last season, also explained that a lack of clarity contributed to his decision to skip the second half of the season. 'It was more a question of not having enough information leading into making a decision (about) things of that degree. I had a discussion back home then came to a decision, and whatever comes from that I'm comfortable with that and we move forward,' he said.
