#SHOWBIZ: HK actress Osanna Chiu seeks alternative jobs as TVB work dries up

HONG KONG: The Hong Kong film and television industry has been experiencing a downturn recently, with many actors seeing a drop in on-screen roles.
HK01 reported yesterday that actress Osanna Chiu is among those affected.
In an interview with the news portal, the 35-year-old revealed that she filmed two TVB dramas last year and another earlier in March.
However, she currently has no new projects lined up with the broadcaster and is now exploring other job opportunities while waiting for her next role.
"There aren't any new projects planned for now, but I'm doing my best while I wait," she said.
"I've been surviving on a basic salary. It's more or less the same."
To help with her income, the Forensic Heroes VI: Redemption star has taken on other side jobs, including influencer work and writing food reviews.
Chiu also shared that she has been learning yoga for the past two years and is planning to take up sound bowl therapy this year.
"I might turn those hobbies into a side hustle in the future," she added.
Chiu made her acting debut in 2013 with the sitcom Come Home Love and has also appeared in popular TVB dramas like Big White Duel, Sinister Beings, and Speakers Of Law.

Carlos Chan says wife singer Shiga Lin isn't thrilled about his weight gain

After losing weight for a film, Carlos Chan is well on his way to regain the pounds back. Photos: Carlos Chan/Instagram Hong Kong actor Carlos Chan revealed he's currently working hard to regain the weight he lost for a film last year. His target is 75kg, and with just 5kg to go, he's well on track – thanks to a specially designed meal plan from his wife, singer-actress Shiga Lin. But according to the 38-year-old, it hasn't been easy. 'It's honestly exhausting to keep eating,' Chan said with a laugh. 'As my wife wants to lose weight while I'm trying to gain it, when I told her how hard it is to keep eating, she warned me to watch what I say – otherwise, I might get punched!' The celebs had a star-studded wedding that reportedly costs RM1.6mil in April 2023. They welcomed their first child in 2024. Chan added that his goal isn't just to gain weight – it's to build muscle. According to HK01, the Manchester United fan is preparing for the debut match of a football team he co-founded with a fellow actor.

#SHOWBIZ: HK actor Chapman To celebrates 20th wedding anniversary with actress Kristal Tin

HONG KONG: Taiwanese actor based in Hong Kong Chapman To and former TVB star Kristal Tin recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary with a small gathering of close friends. Among the guests was veteran actor Anthony Wong, who travelled specifically to Taiwan to join the couple for their milestone celebration. On 7 June, To, 53, shared a throwback photo on social media from his 2005 wedding to Tin, 47. The picture showed them surrounded by famous friends like Andy Lau, Wong Jing, and Shawn Yue. The couple originally tied the knot in June 2005 after dating for six years. "Today, 20 years later, some people remain while others have moved on. I wish everyone happiness. To me, happiness means letting go of the past, not worrying about the future, and simply embracing the present moment," To captioned his Facebook post. The Hong Kong-born artiste also uploaded a photo with Anthony Wong to his Instagram Story, noting that the 63-year-old is the only groomsman he's still in touch with after two decades. He rounded off the celebration by posting a short video of Tin speaking about how he had transformed her life. Meanwhile, Tin took to Instagram to reflect on how her understanding of the word "tolerance" has changed over the years. The Brother's Keeper (2012) star admitted she once viewed the term negatively, saying: "Why do I have to tolerate things after marriage? Didn't we love each other so much that we couldn't help but be together in the first place?" However, Tin shared that her perspective has now shifted. She no longer sees tolerance as putting up with flaws, but rather as peacefully accepting them. "Happy 20th anniversary. Please continue to give me your guidance in the future," she wrote, alongside a photo of herself with To and their pet bulldog.
