
AI key ‘component' of modern media operations
This necessitates a rethinking of media policies and the development of comprehensive Arab digital strategies that keep pace with emerging changes, laying the foundation for digital media that reinforces cultural identity and addresses key challenges.
These insights were shared during a ministerial session organised by TRENDS Research & Advisory in collaboration with the 20th Arab Media Forum, held in Kuwait under the theme: "Media and the Virtual World: Transformations of the Media Landscape in the Digital Age".
The session featured Dr. Ramzan Al-Noaimi, Bahrain's Minister of Information; Paul Morcos, Lebanon's Minister of Information; Ahmed Al-Muslimani, Chairman of the National Media Authority in Egypt; and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS. It was moderated by Dr. Nader Karam.
In his remarks during the session, Dr. Al-Ali emphasised that the media is undergoing an unprecedented transformation driven by the digital revolution. He noted that media is no longer confined to traditional outlets, but has become an open space where everyone participates, from individuals to corporations, from digital influencers to robots.
Artificial intelligence, he explained, has become a central component in modern media operations, from analysing audience behaviour to content creation, combating fake news.
Dr. Al-Ali highlighted that there are now over 4.7 billion active social media users worldwide and nearly 5 billion internet users, underscoring the urgent need for media strategies that can adapt to these massive shifts in audience behaviour and access channels.
Dr. Al-Noaimi stated that the rapid transformations taking place globally today require a parallel media movement that adopts renewed strategies to foster creativity and innovation while preserving national values and principles.
He called for the adoption of joint Arab media strategies that support the development and elevation of digital content.
Unified Arab vision
Morcos reiterated the pivotal moment the Arab media landscape is experiencing amid rapid technological advancement and digital transformation. He highlighted the fundamental shifts in communication structures and the evolution of the audience into an active partner in content creation.
He called for a unified Arab vision to reform the media sector, proposing the establishment of an Arab fund to support digital media, the launch of a regional media training centre, and the creation of an Arab observatory for digital media ethics. Morcos emphasised the importance of shifting from a reactive approach to a proactive one in content creation.
Al-Muslimani explained that the unprecedented volume of information generated by artificial intelligence tools is now reshaping traditional soft power tools.
At the conclusion of the session, participants put forward a set of key recommendations, including: establishing Arab digital platforms to counter the influence of foreign media platforms on local audiences; launching regional initiatives to verify news and combat media disinformation; and investing in creative and entertainment content that resonates with Arab youth.
Additionally, preparing a new generation of digital journalists equipped with technical and fact-checking skills; strengthening collaboration between media institutions and think tanks to produce reliable content aligned with rapid technological transformations; supporting the protection of Arab intellectual property; and encouraging regional and international media partnerships.

It was the first act of a brutal geopolitical blueprint—a regime-change model later repeated in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, and Syria. Western media branded these interventions as part of an 'Arab Spring,' masking the real intent: destabilization, economic exploitation, and the installation of puppet governments loyal to foreign interests. Now, in 2024, Bangladesh has been added to the list of nations reshaped by the US Deep State's regime-change machinery. On August 5, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina – whose leadership had brought consistent economic growth and stability – was ousted in what bears all the hallmarks of an externally orchestrated coup. Behind the scenes, Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) acted as the operational partner, while Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus emerged as the public face of the so-called 'interim regime.' Just like in Iraq and Libya, the new administration is populated by figures whose loyalties lie not with Bangladesh but with foreign benefactors. ISI is reportedly overseeing guerrilla and commando training for over 1.6 million Rohingya refugees and nearly a million Bihari 'Stranded Pakistanis', with the aim of exporting terrorism to India, Myanmar, and potentially Southeast Asia and the Middle East. If these groups succeed, the consequences will ripple far beyond Bangladesh's borders. Targeting the Armed Forces A particularly alarming development is the interim regime's campaign to weaken the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) – Bangladesh's premier counterterrorism agency. Former DGFI chiefs are now facing politically motivated charges of 'crimes against humanity'. This move appears designed to dismantle the very institution that has been most effective at containing terrorist threats. Once neutralized, Islamist militants could infiltrate the military, creating conditions for attacks on the scale of 9/11 or the 2008 Mumbai massacre. Bangladesh's descent into instability is not just a national tragedy – it is a looming global security crisis. A failed Bangladesh, teeming with jihadist networks, would be a launchpad for terrorism across South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. The Deep State's strategy is consistent: destabilize, install loyal proxies, exploit resources, and leave the population in perpetual crisis. Zain Group posts $3.5bln revenue for H1, net profit up 49%
Zain Group, a leading provider of innovative ICT and digital lifestyle communications, operating in eight markets across the Middle East and Africa, has reported exceptional performance for the first half with its revenue soaring to hit KD1.1 billion ($3.5 billion), up 14% over last year, while its net profit surged 49% to hit KD121 million ($395 million). Announcing its consolidated financial results for the six-month period ended June 30, 2025, Zain said the net profit for H1 includes one-time gain of KD15 million ($50 million) on settlement of legal dispute involving INWI, of which Zain Group is a 15.5% shareholder (via Zain Al Ajial). The group's H1 2025 earnings per share stood at 28 fils ($0.09), while its ebitda grew 10% YoY to reach KD356 million ($1.2 billion), reflecting a 33% margin. The leading telecom group said it had served 50.9 million customers at the end of H1, a 7% increase Year-on-Year (YOY), driven by network restoration in Sudan and expansion in Iraq. The data revenue grew 8% YoY to reach $1.3 billion, representing 37% of total group revenue. On the Q2 results, Zain Group said its revenue grew 13% to reach KD541 million ($1.8 billion) compared to Q2 2024. Ebitda hit KD186 million ($606 million), reflecting a healthy ebitda margin of 34%.
