Anil Kapoor's mother Nirmal Kapoor dies at 90: Karan Johar, Ananya Panday and other pay last respects
Veteran Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor's mother, Nirmal Kapoor, passed away on Friday evening at a private hospital in Mumbai. She was 90 and had been suffering from age-related health issues, PTI reported citing its source. Various actors like Karan Johar and Ananya Pandya from the industry arrived at Kapoor's residence to say her a heartfelt goodbye.
"Nirmal Kapoor ji passed away today at around 5:20 pm due to age-related issues at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. She was admitted to the hospital a few days ago," the report said. Her last rites will be held on Saturday morning at Pawan Hans crematorium.
CEO and Executive Director of Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, Dr Santosh Shetty said Nirmal 'passed away peacefully at the hospital around 5.25 pm today', ANI reported.
On Friday night, several Bollywood biggies, including Raveena Tandon, Ramesh Sippy, Jackie Shroff and other visited the actor's home to pay their last respect.
Nirmal Kapoor was married to film producer Surinder Kapoor, who died in 2011. Known for producing films like Woh Saat Din, Hum Paanch, Loafer, Judaai, and Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, he was a venerated personality in the industry. Their four children are -- Anil, Reena, Boney and Sanjay and grandchildren include Sonam Kapoor, Rhea, Harshvardhan, Arjun, Janhvi, Khushi and Anshula, Shanaya, Jahaan, and Mohit Marwah.
Anil had put a carousel of heartwarming pictures which comprised one of his childhood with his mother Nirmal on her 90th birthday in September. In another picture, the Kapoor family can be seen taking part in festivities together with Nirmal in the centre. In the post, Anil stated, '90 years of love, strength, and endless sacrifices. Your presence fills our lives with joy and positivity every day. Blessed to be your child. Happy birthday, Mummy!'

Reportedly, when attempts were made to reach out to Manish Gupta, he directed the reporter to speak with his lawyer, Dinesh Tiwari, who said all claims against the filmmaker have no ground and are just a scheme to make money. He said, 'The allegation against my client Mr. Manish Gupta, is baseless and false, and is nothing but an attempt to extort money from my client. The complainant Mr. Rabijul has a past criminal record, he has previously defrauded a bank and has a criminal case pending against him. The complainant Mr. Rabijul, guided by many of his relatives/friends, has fabricated the entire issue as a pressure tactic to extort money from my client. Rana Daggubati opens up about nepotism in film industries, says 'ultimately you have to stand in front of camera, act'
Actor Rana Daggubati, known for his roles in Baahubali and Rana Naidu, shared his thoughts about nepotism in the film industry, a point of debate abuzz in the entertainment domains for decades now. Hailing from a prestigious film family, Rana is the son of film producer D Suresh Babu and Lakshmi. He shares a close bond with his uncle-actor Venkatesh Daggubati and is also the cousin of Naga Chaitanya. He said, "Any industry that your family is from, you understand it more than somebody who's not. How does it help an actor? Ultimately, you have to stand in front of the camera and act. There'll be a lot more opportunities for you. There will be an ecosystem that you understand. It's like if your family is from chemical industries or sugar factories, you'll understand how a sugar factory works and all the byproducts of sugar like that." The actor's mother worked in a film laboratory and his father in a film studio. Rana admitted that her mother's and father's professions helped him become familiar with the basic functions of film studios and laboratories. "My mother worked in a film laboratory, so I understood what a film laboratory looks like and how it functions. My father worked in a studio, so I understood its function, and my uncle was an actor," said Rana. Ranamentioned that the "pressure" to continue his family's legacy motivated him to do something unique, including starting his own production house, Spirit Media, in 2005. "Pressure, in that sense, it was self-inflicted in some manner. You want to do something that is unique, new, and stands out and should stand for a long period of time. Whether it was visual effects, whether it's acting, or producing," said Rana. He is a vocal advocate for contemporary and art house films. Through his production house, he has supported films such as All We Imagine As Light, directed by Payal Kapadia. Filmmaker Manish Gupta booked for ‘stabbing driver with kitchen knife'
Filmmaker Manish Gupta was booked for allegedly injuring his driver with a kitchen knife, a Mumbai police official said on Friday. Gupta allegedly attacked his driver after an argument over the latter's salary. The incident took place on Thursday night in Gupta's residence in Sagar Sanjog building, the Versova police station official was quoted by news agency PTI as saying. 'Gupta allegedly injured his driver Rajibul Islam Lashkar (32),' the official said. Gupta was booked under sections 118(2), 115(2) and 352 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapon, intentional insult to provoke breach of peace and other offences. He is yet to be arrested, police said. Lashkar's advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh sought immediate arrest of Gupta. According to Free Press Journal, the FIR stated that Lashkar had worked with the filmmaker for three years, for a salary of ₹ 23,000. However, Lashkar alleged that he was never paid on time. On May 30, Gupta allegedly sacked him without clearing his dues. To earn back his money, Lashkar rejoined duty, but was still not paid, the driver reportedly claimed. This led to a verbal argument between the two on Friday night at the filmmaker's Versova residence. Lashkar alleged that Gupta stabbed him with a kitchen knife during the argument. He then rushed to the nearby Cooper Hospital. After receiving medical treatment, he filed an FIR against filmmaker Gupta at the Versova Police Station. A screenwriter and director, Manish Gupta has directed films like The Stoneman Murders and 420 IPC. His last directorial venture was the 2023 legal drama, One Friday Night, which starred Raveena Tandon and Milind Soman. He had earlier served as a writer in Ramgopal Varma's team, writing the screenplay of films like D and Sarkar.
