State House members reintroduce Pennsylvania Fairness Act

(WHTM) — Two Pennsylvania lawmakers have reintroduced the Pennsylvania Fairness Act, which would prohibit discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community in the workplace and housing. House Bill 300, introduced by State Representatives Jessica Benham (D-Allegheny) and Malcolm Kenyatta (D-Philadelphia), aims to amend the PA Human Relations Act to include 'sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression' to the list of prohibited types of discrimination, according to PA House Democrats. Still, the state Senate has refused to consider the bill every time it's been introduced. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. 'We brought in Kate Swensen, who is a mom, advocate and author. She just had a new book come out on April 1st. She is here speaking to the folks today about what her life has been like with her son Cooper, who was diagnosed at age 3. He's now a teenager and nonverbal, so really, really relatable to the crowd and people who work and love and live with people on the spectrum,' said Joe Lang, development director for Lakeshore Community Services.
