Hyderabad: In a move signalling a crucial reorganisation for the
Bharatiya Janata Party
in Telangana, state president N Ramchander Rao was summoned by the party's national leadership to finalise the long-awaited state committee.
Rao arrived in Delhi on Thursday with a carefully prepared shortlist of around 50 names, drawn from senior leaders' recommendations and his own assessments. Party sources said the national leadership has pressed him to complete the committee formation within a week of taking charge — a sharp deadline underscored by the fact that most other BJP state units have already put their structures in place.
National general secretary BL Santhosh is learnt to have urged the Telangana unit to "move quickly and decisively" to complete both the state and district committees.
Several pending district panels were hurriedly filled late Wednesday night to clear the path for the final announcement.

The new state team is expected to feature eight vice-presidents, eight secretaries, three general secretaries, and a roster of spokespersons, ensuring what insiders described as "broad representation of communities, regions, and party wings." Rao has reportedly recommended multiple contenders for each position, sparking intense competition for key posts.

"There is a conscious effort to balance experience with new energy," said a senior party functionary familiar with the discussions. Some sitting members of the state committee may be reassigned, while fresh entrants, particularly from underrepresented groups, are likely to find space.
The deliberations, however, have been anything but routine. Political observers said that Rao's selections will set the tone for the BJP's strategy in Telangana ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The composition of the committee will influence candidate grooming, outreach programmes, and organisational discipline across the state.
While sources indicated that the list could be cleared by the national leadership in the coming days, others suggested a short delay to allow for last-minute consultations. "This is a foundational exercise. A week's haste should not come at the cost of long-term cohesion," a senior leader said.
Amidst the organisational churn, Rao took time to participate in the BJP's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign on Thursday, urging citizens to proudly display the national flag on Aug 15. "Patriotism is not seasonal — but Independence Day is our moment to express it together," he told a gathering, reinforcing the party's message of unity and national pride.
