The public first became aware of the young pop star and Enola Holmes star's romance in late 2023, right after the release of Rodrigo's Billboard 200-topping sophomore album Guts, which was filled with angsty tracks many fans believed to be targeted at ex-boyfriends Adam Faze and Zack Bia. Before that came one of the biggest heartbreak albums of the decade, 2021's Sour — decidedly written about the musician's split from her High School Musical: The Musical: The Series co-star Joshua Bassett — which featured the Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers 'Drivers License' and 'Good 4 U.'
But as the Grammy winner sang on 'Enough for You,' someday she'd 'be everything to somebody else' — and that person turned out to be a certain British actor, who was previously linked to his Pistol castmate Sydney Chandler. Though Rodrigo and Partridge have kept things pretty private, the photos and videos that have been captured of them together show that the 'Deja Vu' artist rarely goes long without smiling or laughing when she's in her partner's presence, and vice versa. And fans can't get enough, with some dubbing them 'Gen Z royalty' and others comparing them to Twilight's Bella Swan and Edward Cullen.

The story of Rodrigo and Partridge might date back to an August interview the 'Traitor' artist gave ahead of the release of Guts, where she was challenged to read aloud her most recent DM exchange. 'My best friend Conan texted me a picture of this guy that I think is cute and I said, 'Wow, he's everything,'' Rodrigo hesitantly revealed, blushing.
Rodrigo and Partridge first sparked dating rumors in October 2023, when fans saw them together in public for the first time ever. In blurry pictures snapped by one onlooker, the singer — wearing festive Halloween cat ears on her head — wraps her arms around the actor, both of them smiling.The dating rumors surrounding Rodrigo and Partridge only solidified when the Brit showed up to the 2023 Jingle Ball to support the Bizaardvark alum's performance. While there, he was spotted hanging out with Rodrigo's best friends Conan Gray and Maddie Hsu and singing and dancing along to 'All-American B-tch,' after which the group all appeared to leave in the same car.
One day after Jingle Ball, Rodrigo performed on Saturday Night Live and took Partridge along with her to the show's afterparty that night. Afterwards, the couple left the party venue together.
Rodrigo and Partridge all but confirmed their romance by engaging in a steamy makeout sesh while making a pit stop at gas station in New York City. Other pictures from the outing capture them giggling together outside of their car, the Argylle star snapping photos of the 'Deja Vu' singer on his phone.
The next day, there were reports of the couple exploring Tannersville in upstate New York.
Not that fans needed it after photos of their gas-station PDA circulated online, but Rodrigo soft-launched her romance with Partridge on Instagram by sharing a photo of her playing darts with an opponent whose initials — 'L.P.' — were visibly written in chalk on a scoreboard.
When Rodrigo kicked off her first-ever arena tour, of course Partridge was in the audience at Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, Calif., to support her. Fan videos captured the actor walking around the venue with the singer's best friend Iris Apatow and holding his cup with his teeth in order to free up his hands to snap a video, and afterward, he posted a picture of his girlfriend performing on Instagram Stories and wrote, 'So so so good.'

In an interview with British Vogue, Partridge opened up about his relationship with Rodrigo for the first time. 'Dating probably shouldn't be done in the public eye,' he told the publication. 'There's enough going on between two people. You don't need the voices of thousands of others in your head. I think she's got it a lot worse than I have … She's got tons and tons of eyes on her case.'
'If there's a load of people nattering in a room about you, you can choose to put your ear to the door to hear what they say or not,' he added. 'I think you're probably better off not letting curiosity get the better of you.'
Partridge could barely wait for Rodrigo to get off stage to wrap her in an adorable bear hug at her March 19 concert in Chicago, something one fan caught on video.

The arrival of the deluxe edition of Guts marked a huge milestone for Rodrigo, as it featured the very first proper love song she'd ever released in her career thus far: 'So American.' Fans were instantly positive the gushy track is all about the star's British boyfriend, with lyrics like, 'He laughs at all my jokes/ And he says I'm so American' and 'God, I'm gonna marry him/ If he keeps this sh– up.'
'GUTS (spilled) is out!!!!!' Rodrigo wrote on Instagram after dropping the song alongside four other new deluxe tracks. 'especialllyyy excited about so american.'
Rodrigo and Partridge stepped out for a casual dinner date in Los Angeles, as captured in photos that circulated on social media. While the Enola Holmes star sported a simple flannel and jeans, the 'Get Him Back!' singer wore a red sundress, coat and cherry handbag.
Partridge joined Rodrigo in supporting one of her besties, Tate McRae, at the 'Greedy' singer's concert in London. Sitting in the middle of the mezzanine section of the venue, the couple cuddled up while enjoying the music as if they were just two random fans in a crowd.

Fans went wild when Rodrigo appeared to subtly confirm that she and Partridge have gotten serious by slightly altering the lyrics of 'So American' at one of her Guts World Tour shows in Europe. Instead of singing 'think I'm in love' as normal after the song's bridge, she belted out 'I'm so in love' — a small but eyebrow-raising change.

Rodrigo and Partridge again packed on the PDA on the streets of New York City while taking a summer stroll together. ‘KPop Demon Hunters' is in theaters for a sing-along event. Here's how to watch a screening
The biggest girl group in music right now will do anything for their fans — including fighting demons. Huntr/x, the fictional trio at the heart of Netflix's summer sensation 'KPop Demon Hunters,' has been topping music charts and dominating Netflix screens across the world. And now, fans of its music and the movie are in for a treat in the form of a limited run of sing-along screenings in theaters. This Saturday and Sunday, fans across the United States and in a handful of other countries will have the chance to see 'KPop Demon Hunters A Sing-Along Event' in theaters. About 1,700 screens in the U.S. and Canada will show the film, and more than 1,000 shows have sold out as of Wednesday, a Netflix spokesperson said. Since its June release, the animated musical movie has developed fervent fans of all ages. The movie follows Rumi, Mira and Zoey, the members of Huntr/x, who are K-Pop stars by day and demon hunters by night, protecting the world from supernatural dangers with the power of their voices that keep the Honmoon, a magical protective layer, intact. At an early screening Tuesday of the sing-along version at Netflix's Tudum Theater, Jasmine Paige Moore, a fan who described herself as being a part of the 'first wave' of the movie's enthusiasts, said seeing it on the big screen was an elevated experience compared with streaming it. 'As a sing-along, it reaches new heights,' she said. 'This is how you're supposed to view this film — surrounded by fans, surrounded by people that are there to enjoy the moment, a moment that you'll never get again.' Moore, an actor and cosplayer who donned a sparkly costume inspired by Mira's character, said she plans to attend two additional screenings this weekend. Even if you haven't seen 'KPop Demon Hunters,' you've likely come across some of the hit songs from the movie on music streaming services and social media. 'Golden,' an optimistic anthem sung by the Huntr/x girls in the movie, peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 charts at No. 1 and continues to rank highly. The soundtrack is also the first in 28 years to boast three songs charting in the top 10 spots of the Billboard Hot 100. 'Golden' is joined by 'Your Idol' and 'Soda Pop,' two songs from the competing K-pop group in the movie, the Saja Boys. Huntr/x has also become the first all-women group to top the Hot 100 in 24 years — since Destiny's Child's 'Bootylicious' held the top spot for two weeks in August 2001. While actors Arden Cho, May Hong and Ji-young Yoo lend their speaking voices to the Huntr/x characters in the movie, real-life K-pop stars EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami sing as the fictional group. The original songs featured in the movie are performed by several other prominent K-pop artists and well-known singers, including Andrew Choi, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, Lea Salonga and more. Some of the songwriters include Chung, EJAE, TEDDY, 24, Vince and KUSH; Marcelo Zarvos wrote the original score. In addition to topping music charts, 'KPop Demon Hunters' is dominating Netflix. The movie debuted on the streamer June 20 and has sat on its Top 10 chart since its release. The title is now the most-watched original animated movie in Netflix's history, according to the streamer. It's also the second-most-watched English-language movie on the platform, with more than 200 million views and 350 million hours viewed on Netflix. ('Red Notice,' a 2021 action comedy movie starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, currently occupies the top spot.) 'KPop Demon Hunters' seems to have hit a sweet spot, building off of passionate enthusiasm for Korean pop music, Korean television series like Netflix's hit 'Squid Game' and original animated features. At the early Netflix screening of the sing-along version, EJAE, the singing voice of Rumi and a songwriter behind some of the movie's hits, said she was blown away by the fan response to the movie and the music. 'I'm just really grateful that I'm able to be a part of this crazy cultural phenomenon,' she told the crowd of enthusiastic fans ahead of the screening. 'Are you guys ready to sing some high notes?' she asked, referencing Rumi's range. Fans of the movie and the music only have a limited window to catch 'KPop Demon Hunters' in theaters. The sing-along event is in theaters just this weekend, with screenings across the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. In L.A., several theaters are screening the sing-along movie, including the TCL Chinese Theatre, Alamo Drafthouse and several Cinemark and Regal locations across the Los Angeles area. When BigXthaPlug took Billboard out for barbecue in Los Angeles, the rapper — and self-confessed 'ribs guy' — opted for the smoked links at Max City BBQ. While sampling those links (and a surprise addition of ribs from the establishment), the Dallas native talked about how solitary confinement during a jail stint helped spark his career. Imprisoned after violating probation, the then-20-year-old was locked up on his son's 1st birthday. 'It took a toll on me,' BigX recalls, 'and made me very emotional. So they [jail officials] had to confine me by myself. And in that confinement, I felt like I was losing myself mentally.' Taylor Swift Streams Rise in Anticipation of Recently Announced ‘The Life of a Showgirl'

Although fans will have to wait until Oct. 3 for Swift's new album, they didn't have to wait to stream her back catalog, which enjoyed a sizable streaming boost in the midst of the excitement. From Aug. 12-14, Swift's catalog earned nearly 110 million official U.S. on-demand streams, according to Luminate; that total marked a 57% bump from the three-day period right before the New Heights podcast tease (70 million streams from Aug. 8-10). Meanwhile, one Swift song has been resurgent for a non-Showgirl reason: 'False God,' from 2019's Lover, was featured in the Aug. 13 episode of the hit Amazon Prime series The Summer I Turned Pretty. The song earned 1.2 million streams from Aug. 13-15, up a whopping 383% from the previous weekend (250,000 streams). – JASON LIPSHUTZ Cardi B's New 'Imaginary Playerz' Single Spurs Notable Gains for Jay-Z Gem It References Cardi B is keeping her Am I the Drama? album campaign rolling, and for her latest single she looked to fellow New York hip-hop icon, Jay-Z. For 'Imaginary Playerz,' Cardi sampled Jay's 'Imaginary Players,' a Prestige-produced fan-favorite from 1997's In My Lifetime, Vol. 1. Though Cardi's track, which dropped on Aug. 15, envisions Jay's original from a female perspective, her new single still spurred streaming gains for Hov's classic. According to Luminate, Cardi's track pulled over 3.8 million official on-demand U.S. streams in its first four days of release (Aug. 15-18). During that same period, Jay's 'Imaginary Players' earned over 427,000 official streams, marking a whopping 313% increase from the 103,000 official streams it collected the weekend prior (Aug. 8-11). Jay's original was never an official single, but the 'Imaginary Players' legacy lives on through Cardi's latest tease of her long-awaited sophomore studio album. — KYLE DENIS 'Freaky Friday' Sequel Bumps Songs From Original & New Movies It was a sequel fans had waited over 20 years for: Freakier Friday debuted in theaters on Aug. 8, as the follow-up to 2003's Freaky Friday, starring Jamie Lee Curits and Lindsay Lohan (itself a remake of the 1978 original with Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris). The movie is off to a respectable box office start, and has also resulted in major streaming gains for the songs featured in the movie — in which Pink Slip, Anna (Lohan)'s band from the original movie reunites — as well as for Pink Slip classics from the '03 original. The Freakier Friday soundtrack drew 879,000 official U.S. on-demand streams in total for the week ending Aug. 14 following the film's release, according to Luminate — a gain of 153% over the prior week. That's led by nearly 586,000 streams for Pink Slip's re-recorded 'Take Me Away,' nearly triple its tally the previous week. And there was enough enthusiasm left for peak Pink Slip from the new movie that the group's 'Ultimate' from Freaky also saw a spike, rising 74% to 229,000 streams for the week. (You can find the full story of all these songs in our Pink Slip reunion oral history here.) – ANDREW UNTERBERGER Viral 'Milkaholic' TikTok Trend Revives 20-Year-Old Metal Song Between Sleep Token and Ghost topping the Billboard 200 earlier this year and a Pierce the Veil deep cut going viral, hard rock and metal are having notable moments in 2025. U.K. hardcore band Her Words Kill is the latest act to benefit from this wave, thanks to its fast-rising hit, 'Sir, This Is a Cutthroat Fashion.' Originally released on 2005's Load My Revolver, Baby LP, 'Cutthroat Fashion' has found new life as the primary song for a new 'milkaholic' TikTok trend, inspired by Tom & Jerry. In essence, TikTok users take shots of milk, intending to evoke the feeling of hitting rock bottom and nursing one's alcoholism after a particularly rough day. User @noahnestell kicked off the trend with a Jul. 31 post set to 'Cutthroat Fashion' and focusing on the lyrics, 'Better pack your tears into a suitcase/ And run away with my heart.' As the trend evolved, users swapped out milk for other non-alcoholic beverages such as Yakult and matcha. The sound attached to user @noahnestell's original video has garnered over 253,600 posts, while the official 'Cutthroat Fashion' sound boasts just under 250 posts. According to Luminate, 'Cutthroat Fashion' earned just over 7,000 official on-demand U.S. streams during the week of July 18-24. That figure leapt 869% to nearly 70,000 official streams the following week (July 25-31), which included the day user @noahnestell shared his video.
