James Cameron Wants to Do an ‘Avatar' Animated Anthology Movie
Speaking to Empire Magazine, Cameron revealed he's had conversations with Disney about further expanding the reach of stories revolving around Pandora. 'I said, 'Look, I want to do an animated anthology series that's essentially in the world, but stories that you wouldn't have expected from that world.' There might even be an animated feature in there—it might be a feature for streaming, or a theatrical feature.'
He pointed to The Animatrix, the 2003 animated anthology film set in the world of The Matrix, as an inspiration. '[It's a great example] for how we can add texture and baroque detail to the world of Avatar,' he said, with 'backstory on characters and tangential stuff that happened off-camera within the movies. Who first landed on Pandora? The first expedition. You could go anywhere you want.'
As exciting as that sounds, Cameron isn't ready to predict a release date this early in the process. 'We haven't done much with that yet. We're still gathering our stories and that sort of thing … I've got to find the boutique filmmakers, the animators, that want to do it.'
Considering how popular Avatar is—and how enticingly rich a canvas Pandora would provide—it doesn't seem like it'll be too hard for Cameron to round up the talent for an animated anthology. But while that might be true to an extent, Ice Cube recently made it clear that when it comes to people being interested in Clark or Reese, there's not much of a debate. Ice Cube, who offered Caitlin Clark $5 million to play in his BIG3 League, admitted that when he spoke to investors and advertisers, there wasn't much of a debate between Clark and Reese. The league's sponsors suggested that Clark, not Reese, would make the biggest impact. While an offer was made to Clark, no such offer was made to Reese. 'They didn't tell us the same thing about Angel Reese,' Cube informed TMZ Sports. 'I don't know if we can make that same offer.' Ice Cube added the door has probably been closed on Clark. Meanwhile, it never seemed to open for Reese. MLB Speedway Classic between Braves and Reds set to break attendance record
Major League Baseball will soon see one of its highest-attended games ever on August 2. MLB announced that the Speedway Classic, featuring the Atlanta Braves vs. the Cincinnati Reds, at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, has already sold over 85,000 tickets. The game is set to surpass the previous regular-season game attendance record of 84,587, established on Sept. 12, 1954, when Cleveland Stadium hosted the New York Yankees. August 2 will not only feature the game, but also concerts headlined by Jake Owen, Tim McGraw, and Pitbull. The first pitch will be between two Hall of Famers: The Braves' Chipper Jones will pitch to the Reds' Johnny Bench.
