Schools in Dharwad begin new academic year today
Hubballi: The govt schools started their academic year as preparations were done on Thursday to reopen classes from Friday. School management opened the schools for cleaning activities to commence the classes from May 30.
The school management cleaned the schools. The head masters and school teachers made preparations such as cleaning the classrooms and other arrangements to run the classes.
DDPI Shankmukh Swamy Keladimath inspected the TCW Govt School and Govt Kannada Medium School in Dharwad to check the preparations made by school managements.
The education department has distributed 83% of textbooks to govt schools. Around 1.3 lakh students are set to attend classes, and activities like Setubandha bridge and enrolment drives will be held.
The school Prarambhotsava (opening) programme will be organised on school premises on Friday. Preparations has been made in all schools in the district. In this regard, an order has been issued to govt schools, asking them to ensure that students are present from May 30, including cleaning the school premises, rooms, and toilets, cleaning the drinking water tank, cleaning the kitchen and utensils, preparing the school timetable, planning the SDP action plan, and allocating subjects to teachers.

The education department has instructed teachers to prioritise the safety of school rooms in the wake of the rainy season and has instructed to repair school rooms using the available funds. Children should not be placed in unsafe rooms for any reason. The education department has warned that teachers will be held responsible if there is any negligence towards the safety of children and a disaster occurs.

Fraudsters, posing as IPS officers, dupe retired doc of 2 cr
Hyderabad: Cyber fraudsters, posing as IPS officers, duped a 70-year-old retired doctor from the city of 2.2 crore by threatening her with arrest in a fake terror-related case. The Hyderabad cybercrime police registered a case and launched an investigation into the matter. According to officials, the victim, a resident of Srinagar Colony, received a call on May 27 from a fraudster who identified himself as 'Prem Kumar Gautam, IPS'. The caller alleged that she was involved in a terror-related case being investigated in Lucknow and further claimed that her name was linked to money laundering activities. While still reeling from the shock, the victim received a video call on WhatsApp from another fraudster impersonating NIA Director General Sadanand Date. He claimed that her contact number, along with 17 photos of army officers and seven ATM cards, was recovered during the arrest of terrorists. She was warned that the investigation had national security implications and was instructed not to disclose the matter to anyone.
