Synopsis
Dr Siddhant Bhargava, known for being a celebrity nutritionist to stars like Alia Bhatt, shared his powerful personal journey on Shark Tank India Season 4. Diagnosed with lupus at 20 and later stage 2 thyroid cancer, he was forced to leave clinical medicine and instead turned to entrepreneurship. He co-founded Food Darzee and later InnerGize, a stress-relief device startup. Earlier this year, he secured a deal on Shark Tank after impressing the judges with both his product and resilience.
Alia Bhatt's Nutritionist Dr Siddhant Bhargava Survived Battle With Cancer and Autoimmune Disease Dr Siddhant Bhargava, best known as the nutritionist to Bollywood stars like Alia Bhatt, Ananya Panday, and Sara Ali Khan, is not just a name in celebrity wellness circles. Earlier this year, he made waves with a powerful pitch on Shark Tank India Season 4, but it was his story of personal survival and transformation that left a lasting impression.
Behind the public image of a successful entrepreneur lies a deeply personal struggle — one that includes battling a rare autoimmune disease, surviving cancer, and redefining his professional identity.
Bhargava completed his MBBS from Topiwala National Medical College in Mumbai with plans of becoming a practicing doctor. However, at the age of 20, his path took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with lupus, a serious autoimmune condition. The illness led to widespread inflammation in his body, hair loss, severe skin issues, and liver and kidney complications. He also experienced costochondritis, which made breathing painful. Due to his compromised immune system, he was placed on high doses of steroids — up to 1500 mg — and was vulnerable to infections. The physical toll was significant, but the psychological impact was just as intense. He shared during Shark Tank India Season 4 that during this phase, a child at a train station asked, 'What is that?' instead of 'Who is that?', highlighting how much the disease had changed his appearance.Despite this, Bhargava didn't give up. He shifted focus from clinical medicine to nutrition and co-founded Food Darzee, a personalised meal planning and delivery service that quickly became popular with celebrities and fitness enthusiasts.Bhargava's journey took another sharp turn when, four years ago, he was diagnosed with Stage 2 thyroid cancer. It was an inoperable case. Yet again, he found himself battling a life-threatening illness, but he remained determined to build something meaningful out of his experiences. That purpose translated into InnerGize, a wellness brand he co-founded with Shalmali Kadu and Mitansh Khurana. The idea emerged from a shared desire to address stress-related health issues in a non-invasive and science-backed way.In their Shark Tank India appearance earlier this year, the InnerGize team pitched their stress-relief device and asked for Rs 54 lakh in exchange for 1.5% equity. Bhargava gave a live demonstration of the device, explaining how it helps users relax and reduce stress levels. The product was well-received by the judges, with multiple sharks complimenting its design and packaging. While Vineeta Singh and Kunal Bahl opted out, citing product uncertainties, Ritesh Agarwal immediately matched the pitch. Aman Gupta offered Rs 54 lakh for 2.5% equity and proposed bringing Namita Thapar into the deal. Eventually, Aman, Azhar Iqubal, and Ritesh came together to make a final offer: Rs 1 crore for 4.2% equity — a deal the team accepted.

Tailors, weavers, clerks are under construction workers' welfare board, says CAG

Bengaluru: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Wednesday pulled up Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board for irregular and unauthorised expenditure of Rs 259 crore during the first wave of Covid-19 in 2020. In a report tabled in the legislature, CAG said the board had initially proposed a preventive health training and check-up programme for five lakh registered construction workers across the state. Its first proposal in July 2020, estimated at Rs 10 crore, was rejected by the finance department, which sought more clarity. A second proposal in Dec 2020 was also blocked after the finance department demanded justification for awarding the project to three agencies directly, without following the tender process, and for seeking 4(g) exemption under the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement (KTPP) Act. He also sought administrative approval to implement the scheme on a pilot basis in Dharwad circle for Rs 9 crore. Soon after, the board decided to split the same work into 30 individual projects, thereby avoiding the need for cabinet approval, and proceeded to call for quotations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Is it better to shower in the morning or at night? The CAG noted, "Thus, the award of contracts from Sept 2021 to May 2022 in contravention to the act/rules resulted in irregular expenditure of Rs 258.8 crore." Responding to the audit, the govt said in Aug 2024 that the work was entrusted directly since a 4(a) exemption was accorded and that there was no contravention of rules. However, CAG rejected this defence, stating the reply was "unacceptable" as it was meant to address the Covid-19 emergency and criticised the labour department for approving work by splitting them into 30 sub-works of Rs 10 crore each despite finance department objections and without cabinet approval. The report also flagged irregularities in the registration of members. Of the board's 42.5 lakh registered workers, CAG found a significant number were not actually construction workers. A random survey of 399 applicants who registered through the Seva Sindhu portal revealed beneficiaries included tailors, clerks, weavers, and others from unrelated professions. The audit recommended that the board devise a mechanism to identify and weed out ineligible beneficiaries. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Government proposes exempting life & health insurance for individuals from GST

Representative image NEW DELHI: The Centre has proposed exempting life and health insurance policies for individuals from the ambit of GST, the head of a panel of ministers set up by the GST council said on Wednesday, a move that is expected to provide relief to large sections of consumers. Bihar deputy chief minister and convenor of the panel of ministers on health and insurance Samrat Choudhary said the Centre's proposal is clear that individual insurance policies should be exempt from GST. "This has been discussed and the GoM report will be presented to the council," Choudhary was quoted as saying. He also said all members have given their approval for lowering rates and some states have given their own views. He said a final call issue would be taken by the GST council when it meets. Telangana deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, a member of the GoM , said it was made clear that the benefit of GST should go to policyholders and not companies and a mechanism needs to be worked on to ensure this. He also pointed to the fact nearly Rs 9,700 crore annual revenue loss is estimated due to the GST exemption to individual insurance policies. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo The 13-member panel on health and insurance was set up in Sept to draw up a roadmap on the issue and it is expected to submit its report by October. The panel includes ministers from UP, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. "The proposed reduction of GST on health and life insurance from 18% to nil (exempt) shows how GST has evolved from just a way to collect revenue to a tool for advancing national goals. It can help promote financial inclusion, strengthen healthcare, and support key initiatives like Ayushman Bharat and universal coverage," said Saurabh Agarwal, Tax Partner, EY India. "This change could be very important for both customers and the insurance industry. For individuals, especially senior citizens and low-income families, it could make insurance more affordable."

‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu' OTT release: Pawan Kalyan's epic arrives with a new climax — when and where to watch

Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs. Spirit, one of Pawan Kalyan's most awaited movies, released on July 24, 2025. Mounted on a massive budget with significant investments, the period drama carried high expectations. However, mixed reviews severely impacted its box office performance. While many moviegoers appreciated certain aspects of the film despite its shortcomings, the overall reception was underwhelming. Following its theatrical run, the film has now arrived on OTT. Hari Hara Veera Mallu streaming details Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs. Spirit, Pawan Kalyan's big-ticket period drama, premiered on Prime Video on August 20, 2025, after a disappointing theatrical outing. The film is available in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. According to a Cinema Express report, Prime Video acquired the streaming rights for a staggering Rs 50 crore. The film's official X handle announced, 'A tale of rebellion, rage, and righteousness. The storm that started in theaters now takes over your screens.' Box office vs budget According to reports, the film was made on an extravagant budget of around Rs 300 crore. Despite this, it collected only Rs 116.82 crore worldwide, as per a Sacnilk report. Even after factoring in the OTT rights deal, the film failed to recover its total cost and was widely termed a box office disaster. OTT version features a new climax Pawan Kalyan plays the titular character Hari Hara Veera Mallu, an outlaw on a mission to free the Koh-i-Noor from Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, portrayed by Bobby Deol. While the theatrical version received criticism for its underwhelming visual effects and lack of polish in many sequences, the OTT cut introduces significant changes. In theaters, the film originally ended with Aurangzeb (Bobby Deol) declaring, 'A storm is coming.' This was after producer AM Rathnam trimmed the climactic battle between Veera Mallu and Aurangzeb during a cyclone. The OTT version, however, ends after the song 'Asura Hananam' and features a sequel announcement, removing the storm sequence entirely. This has resulted in the film now having three distinct endings across its edits. Viewers have also noted that the OTT version features improved VFX, making several scenes look more refined than they did on the big screen.
