Bill Belichick, Jordon Hudson Got Roasted During Hall Of Fame Speech
It's the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony today and while Bill Belichick is destined to get his bronze bust and gold jacket someday, today he was the butt of jokes.
On Friday, longtime Cleveland Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot was recognized for her contributions to football with the prestigious Bill Nunn Memorial Award at the at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Gold Jacket Dinner.
While giving her acceptance speech, she spoke about her time with the Browns as a young reporter in the 1990s when she was 28 years old. The head coach at the time was none other than Belichick.
Cabot recalled Belichick calling her to yell when he didn't like one of her stories. She then joked that Belichick probably gave her a hard time because he "just couldn't relate to a woman that old."
'If Bill didn't like something I wrote, he'd call and yell at me,' she said. 'Now I totally understand why Bill game such a hard time,' she said. 'I was 28 (years old) at the time and he just couldn't relate to a woman that old.'
The joke was a clear dig at Belichick's girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, who is only 24 years old.
But while NFL fans are usually eager to have fun at Belichick's expense, this time they were far more critical of Cabot for being "corny" and "lame" with her joke. Many criticized Cabot for her longstanding job of being a Browns reporter too.
"You think her brain rotted from covering the NFL's biggest joke, for 30 years?" one user remarked.
"Novel. And literally will not be the last laugh," another declared.
"Not much of a 'laugh.' No wonder so many have contempt for the media, especially those who want to be the story rather than report on the story," a third wrote.
"Her joke writers deserve less $$$. That's lame."
Belichick will get the last laugh though, most likely next year.
He is eligible for Hall of Fame induction in 2026 and will undoubtedly be let in on the first ballot.
As the only eight-time Super Bowl champion in NFL history, he'll have the floor to say whatever he wants when his bust is unveiled next summer.Bill Belichick, Jordon Hudson Got Roasted During Hall Of Fame Speech first appeared on The Spun on Aug 2, 2025

New Epstein Documents Reveal Details About His Life
Guest and Jeffrey Epstein attend the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show at the Plaza Hotel in New York City on August 1, 1995. Credit - Patrick McMullan—Getty Images Previously unseen letters to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, along with photographs from inside his seven-story Manhattan mansion, were published by the New York Times on Tuesday. The tranche of pictures and letters from well-known artists and politicians offers a glimpse into the New York financier's life and relationships in the years leading up to his arrest for sex trafficking in 2019. They include messages for his 63rd birthday in 2016 from director Woody Allen, former prime minister of Israel Ehud Barak, real estate billionaire Mortimer Zuckerman, along with linguist and political activist Noam Chomsky. 'Being neighbors, my wife Soon-Yi and I have been invited for dinner many times. Always accept, always interesting. Wide variety of interesting people at every dinner just about Politicians, scientists, teachers, magicians, comedians, intellectuals, journalists…' Allen's letter reportedly says. He then likens the dinners to those at the castle to the 1931 movie adaptation of Dracula Dracula, where 'where Lugosi has three young female vampires who service the place.' Read More: A Timeline of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein's Relationship as It Draws Renewed Attention Another letter from Barak and his wife reportedly describes Epstein as a 'collector of people.' The Times did not publish a scan of this letter as it did with Allen's, but reports that it concludes with a refrain that Epstein's friends may "enjoy your table for many more years to come.' TIME attempted to reach Barak, Chomsky, Zuckerman, and Allen for comment. The New York Times also published photographs from inside Epstein's mansion showing him with powerful global and financial figures Pope John Paul II, Mick Jagger, Elon Musk, Bill Clinton and Fidel Castro. They photograph a framed dollar bill signed by billionaire Bill Gates, with the caption 'I was wrong!' written on it. Also framed is the now-infamous photo of Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Epstein and Maxwell, taken in 2000, but with Maxwell not in frame. Epstein's relationship with the rich and powerful has been the subject of intense speculation in the years since his arrest and death by suicide in 2019. Read more: Is Donald Trump Named in the Epstein Files—and Why Won't the Questions Go Away? The Wall Street Journal reported last month that Trump had sent his own letter to Epstein in a book for his 50th birthday in 2003—long before his crimes became public knowledge. Trump has denied writing the letter and accompanying 'bawdy' drawing that the Journal reports is in the book, and the President sued the newspaper's parent firms Dow Jones and News Corp, its owner Rupert Murdoch, and two reporters over the report. The President has sought to play down his connection to Epstein over the years. He has said consistently that he broke off his friendship long before any allegations of his crimes came to light. He recently gave more details about the split when he said he fell out with the financier after Epstein 'stole' Virginia Giuffre, who later became a victim of Epstein, from the President's spa at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, where she worked as a 16-year-old in 2000. The Trump Administration has faced criticism for its refusal to release the so-called 'Epstein files,' after many within Trump's inner circle claimed for years that their contents would expose serious crimes by powerful people. The case has consumed both Republicans and Democrats as both parties search for answers. On Tuesday, the House Oversight Committee, led by Republicans, subpoenaed the Justice Department on files related to Epstein, calling for the DOJ to turn over all investigative materials related to his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell's sex trafficking operation. Just last week, Maxwell was quietly moved to a minimum-security prison in Texas, soon after she met with the DOJ's Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, prompting anger from Democrats. Could Nico Collins be a fantasy bust as a top-10 pick?
Yahoo Fantasy analysts Matt Harmon and Scott Pianowski explain why the Texans wide receiver's injury history is the only red flag as a first-round fantasy pick. Hear the full conversation on the 'Yahoo Fantasy Forecast' podcast - and subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you listen. View more Video Transcript Nico Collins, man, it warms my cold dark heart to see Nico Collins as a first round pick in Yahoo drafts, and it warms it even more, Scotty, to see you and I are both ahead of this 10th overall ADP at the 8th overall pick. Um, so I'll carry the burden here. I'll be the first one to point out how it's not gonna work out for Nico Collins. Here's how it's not gonna work out for Nico Collins. He gets hurt, right? He misses time every single year with soft tissue injuries, that could be an issue. He is definitely someone with an injury history and if he bangs you because of injuries, well, it's happened before. That is #1. Number 2, it is a very problematic offensive line, no way around it. I don't know that it can get out of the bottom 10 in the league. I think if it's the 20th best offensive line in the league, maybe that's good enough for the Texans unit to still be fine, but that's a concern. Uh, they've added some targets. Now, I don't really care about the target competition. Guys like Christian Kirk, Jayden Higgins, I love Jaylen Noel, but none of those guys are Jaylen Noel. I love those guys, but they're not eating into Nico's target total. The other thing is maybe he just continues to run out as a true X receiver, doesn't really get a lot of layups, and those layups go to Kirk or one of these other guys. So it's possible to pick the nits here, Scott, but again, this might be one that neither of our hearts are in there considering he's our 8th overall player. Yeah, we love Nico Collins on the show, we always have. And over the last two years, 11.1 yards per target, that's elite, dominant player, he just hasn't played that full season yet. We'll see how the Texans do with their new offensive coordinator, Nick Haley, but look, Bobby Slovak did a lot of things wrong last year, and you can't, Nico Collins is just, you can't screw that up. And even if the offensive line is problematic, I always feel like when an offensive line is bad, you can mask it more in pass blocking than you can in run blocking. So, they're going to, there's no competition for him. There's a lot of interesting guys you can talk up. Some people are Kirk guys, they drafted two rookie receivers from the same college. We'll we'll see if one of those guys pops, but, um, with Collins, the only thing I can see going around with him is that he gets hurt. And also, his touchdown rate hasn't been maybe what you'd expect of a player that dominant. That, I never, I'm never going to blame Nico Collins for that. I mean, just like I never blamed Terry McLaurin for that. I never blamed DJ Moore for that. It's just one of those things, but Nico Collins is ready to dominate. He should be a first round pick. Cubs place right-hander Michael Soroka on injured list with shoulder strain, recall Pearson
CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs placed right-hander Michael Soroka on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with a shoulder strain after he pitched just two innings in his first game with his new team. Chicago also recalled right-hander Nate Pearson from Triple-A Iowa prior to its matchup with Cincinnati. Before Tuesday's game with the Reds, Cubs manager Craig Counsell said he wasn't sure of the extent of Soroka's injury. 'We did imaging,' Counsell said. 'Still waiting on the doctor.' The Cubs acquired Soroka in a trade with the Nationals last week to help fill a gap in their rotation, with Jameson Taillon and Javier Assad working their way back from injuries. But Soroka departed Monday night's 3-2 loss to Cincinnati with shoulder soreness on his 28th birthday. With Soroka out, Counsell had no concrete plans on adjusting the team's rotation. Soroka is 3-8 with a 4.87 ERA in 17 starts this season. Pearson went 0-1 with a 12.66 ERA in 10 2/3 innings with the Cubs earlier this year. ___ AP MLB: The Associated Press
