Saiyaara box office collection day 2: Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda's film surpasses The Diplomat, Maa; to beat Metro… In Dino today

Saiyaara box office collection day 2: Mohit Suri's romantic drama Saiyaara is turning out to be the surprise of the year. The film, starring Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday, became the highest grossing Hindi film starring newcomers. If the day 2 collection is anything to go by, Saiyaara is in for a momentous run at the domestic box office.
On Saturday, Saiyaara earned Rs 24 crore in India, which is slightly higher than its opening day earnings of Rs 21 crore. As per trade tracker Sacnilk, the total domestic box office collection of the film after two days stands at Rs 45 crore. Given the current trajectory, it's most likely to edge past the Rs 50 crore mark on Sunday.
With its domestic box office collection of two days, Saiyaara has already beaten the likes of Rajkummar Rao-starrer Maalik (Rs 23.27 crore), Shahid Kapoor-starrer Deva (Rs 33.97 crore), Kajol-starrer Maa (Rs 38.51 crore), and John Abraham's The Diplomat (Rs 40.73 crore). It's most likely to beat the earnings of Anurag Basu's Metro… In Dino (Rs 48.47 crore) today.
Saiyaara has also surpassed the re-release box office collections of Ayan Mukerji's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (Rs 22.04 crore) and Harshvardhan Rane-starrer Sanam Teri Kasam (Rs 35.55 crore). Those films were a fairly clear indication that romantic films are having a comeback on screen. Saiyaara is no different, as can be ascertained from its domestic box office run so far.
Saiyaara has achieved these numbers without its new lead pair getting involved in any promotions. Suri claimed that like his 2013 romantic drama Aashiqui 2, starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, he wanted to keep the pairing of Ahaan and Aneet fresh till the film's release. While Aditya and Shraddha had appeared in a few films prior to Aashiqui 2, Saiyaara marks Ahaan Panday's screen debut and Aneet Padda's film debut. Aneet got rave reviews for her turn in the Prime Video India coming-of-age show Big Girls Don't Cry last year.
'It was an idea that collectively came forward. My producer Akshaye Widhani and, of course, Aditya Chopra (owner of Yash Raj Films), who has mentored us through this thing, suggested that until the two actors don't have anything behind them to talk about, the conversation will be filled with questions like 'Who is the prankster on the set?' or 'How is it to work with Mohit Suri?' It's all redundant stuff, and I don't think anyone has any interest in listening to all that,' Suri reasoned in an interview on the YouTube channel Just Too Filmy.

While Saiyaara has bulldozed its competition — Anupam Kher's Tanvi The Great and Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Nikita Roy — it now also has a two-week run sans major competition in Bollywood as Ajay Devgn decided to push the release date of his action comedy Son of Sardaar 2 by a week to August 1.

Ahaan Panday's Father Chikki Panday Once Bailed Shah Rukh Khan Out Of Jail

Chikki Panday is among Shah Rukh Khan's best friends in Mumbai, Ahaan Panday has finally stepped into the spotlight with his debut film, Saiyaara, a romance drama backed by Yash Raj Films. With his nuanced portrayal of an artist in the film, the star in making is all set to make his mark in the entertainment industry. Ahaan's debut has also put a spotlight on his father, Chikki Panday, who is close friends with big Bollywood names like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. As per a Hindustan Times report, Chikki Panday once even bailed Shah Rukh Khan out of jail. As per the report, in 1994, Shah Rukh was arrested for threatening a journalist who had written a magazine article defaming him. SRK was held in custody, and Chikki Panday and actor Nana Patekar were the ones who bailed him out. Chikki Panday, whose real name is Aloke Sharad Panday, is Chunky Panday's younger brother. He is a businessman and philanthropist who prefers to stay away from the limelight. Chikki Panday is among Shah Rukh Khan's best friends in Mumbai and has helped him in the early days of his career. SRK and Gauri frequently visited Chikki's house, watched video cassettes, and spent time there in the superstar's early struggling days. Their friendship went beyond generations as Ahaan Panday is also a friend of Aryan Khan. Now, as Ahaan has left everyone impressed with his acting debut in Saiyaara, all eyes are on Aryan Khan's directorial debut. Bollywood is no stranger to grand debuts, but when the son of Shah Rukh Khan steps into the director's chair, expectations soar to an entirely new level. Aryan Khan's first project, Ba***ds of Bollywood, has already created waves with its unique premise, sharp humour, and a cast packed with some of the biggest names in Indian cinema. Bollywood's biggest superstars—Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan—are all making cameos, adding a layer of nostalgia and meta-humour to the show. Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt also feature as themselves, embracing Bollywood's self-referential culture. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Ba***ds of Bollywood is more than just another web series—it's a deep dive into the chaotic, glamorous, and unpredictable world of Hindi cinema, told through a sharp-witted lens. According to insiders, Netflix and the production house have meticulously planned a grand release for the show. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. In a tale where age is just a number, a seasoned gentleman finds himself entangled in a romantic liaison with a spirited young woman, leading to a series of comedic and heartfelt events. Their unconventional relationship challenges societal norms, especially when familial introductions are on the horizon. The story takes a twist as the younger partner's father enters the scene, setting the stage for a humorous clash of generations and egos. Which film is this? Here we are talking about 'De De Pyaar De,' a 2019 romantic comedy directed by Akiv Ali. The film delves into the complexities of unconventional relationships. The film stars Ajay Devgn as Ashish Mehra, a 50-year-old London-based businessman who falls for Ayesha, a 26-year-old woman portrayed by Rakul Preet Singh. Their budding romance faces challenges when Ashish introduces Ayesha to his estranged family in India, including his ex-wife Manju, played by Tabu, and their children. The narrative humorously and poignantly explores themes of age disparity, familial acceptance, and societal norms surrounding love and relationships. How was the performance of lead actors in the film? The film's strength lies in its balanced storytelling, combining light-hearted moments with emotional depth. Ajay Devgn delivers a nuanced performance, capturing the internal conflicts of a man torn between past responsibilities and present desires. Rakul Preet Singh shines as Ayesha, bringing vivacity and sincerity to her role, marking a significant milestone in her Bollywood career. Tabu's portrayal of Manju adds gravitas to the film, offering a mature perspective on love and letting go. How was the box-office reception of De De Pyaar De? Upon its release on May 17, 2019, the film garnered positive reviews for its fresh take on modern relationships. Despite facing stiff competition from major Bollywood releases like 'Jabariya Jodi' and 'Mental Hai Kya! The film performed well at the box office, grossing over Rs 102 crore worldwide. Critics praised its witty dialogues, relatable characters, and the seamless blend of humor and emotion. The film's music, composed by Amaal Mallik, Rochak Kohli, and others, complemented the narrative, enhancing the overall viewing experience, due to which it has received rating of 6.5 on IMDb.
