The One Show's Alex Jones forced to step in as EastEnders star suffers awkward blunder
EastEnder's Cindy Beale actress Michelle Collins appeared on BBC The One Show on Monday (June 23) night
The One Show's Alex Jones was forced to step in as one guest suffered an awkward blunder just moments into their interview.
The Welsh presenter was back on the famous green sofa on Monday (June 23) evening alongside co-star Roman Kemp.

The pair welcomed a number of guests into the studio including EastEnders legend Michelle Collins, who spoke about her new venture as she prepares to leave the BBC hit soap for a brief break.

Michelle, 63, is set to make her Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut this summer. She will perform in the one woman dark comedy Motorhome Marilyn, which was written by Ben Weatherill.
The show, which is inspired by Michelle's real-life encounter with a woman known as Motorhome Marilyn, follows Denise, an aspiring actress with an obsession with Marilyn Monroe, as she heads to Hollywood in the 1980s.

As her dreams falter, Denise is forced to face the harsh reality of her unfulfilled aspirations. Ahead of the show, hosts Alex and Roman were keen to find out more about the actress' new role, however just moments into the interview things took an awkward turn for the star as she made an unexpected blunder.
Roman was quick to ask: 'Obviously doing a one woman show and doing the whole thing playing the character, is your home becoming a bit of a shrine to Marilyn Monroe?"
Michelle admitted: 'Oh yes. My husband is like 'Michelle this is getting really silly now, it's getting unhealthy.' Everything down to my coffee cup is Marilyn. I mean everything. It's amazing how much stuff you can get and the collections out there are unreal.'

Opening up more, Michelle continued: 'It's tough and I do kind of think 'why did I do this' because I'm filming at the same time and I'm rehearsing at the weekend.'
American actor Sean Hayes, who was also on the show, jumped in and asked: 'So when does it start?' to which Michelle revealed: 'Umm 29th of July?'

It appeared as though she got her dates wrong as Alex was forced to jump in and correct the star as she pulled a face to the camera and replied: 'No. It's the 30th'.
Everyone burst out laughing as Michelle replied: 'The 30th, thank you Alex. Don't come on the 29th.'

Michelle is well known for portraying Cindy Beale in the hit BBC soap. The actress returned to EastEnders in 2023, 25 years after she left when Cindy was said to have died during childbirth in 1998.
However, it was soon revealed that this was false and Cindy had been living a secret life in Spain under witness protection.
Upon her return to Walford, her character has been involved in plenty of drama including her affair with Junior Knight getting exposed during the festive season.

She's since been attacked by Kathy Beale, shot husband Ian and accidentally caused the fire at the Queen Vic, which led to the death of Martin Fowler. The star is now set to leave the show again as she takes on her new role on stage.
The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer

Gareth Bale stuns nation with bid to buy football team close to his heart

Gareth Bale has confirmed he is leading a consortium that is interested in buying Cardiff City and wants to be "part of growing the club" Gareth Bale has confirmed his role in leading a consortium with the aim of purchasing Cardiff City, expressing his desire to elevate his boyhood club back to the Premier League. The Welsh football icon shared his grand vision while attending the premiere of F1 The Movie, marking the first time he's spoken publicly about his intentions to acquire the Bluebirds. ‌ It emerged last week through Wales Online that Bale's consortium had made an offer to Cardiff owner Vincent Tan, which was turned down. Since then, speculation has been rife that Bale's public association with the bid could signal that another attempt is in the pipeline. ‌ Bale, who hung up his boots earlier this year after a spell at LAFC, remains optimistic about the consortium's chances of striking a deal. "We are interested in getting Cardiff," Bale declared. He said: "It's my home club, it's where I grew up and my uncle [Chris Pike] used to play for them. To be involved with an ownership group would be a dream come true. "It's a club close to my heart. It's where I grew up and I would love to be able to be a part of growing Cardiff and taking it to the Premier League where it belongs. "I know how amazing the Welsh fans and Cardiff fans are. It would be amazing to try and do something together." Gareth Bale has hinted at future involvement with Cardiff City, saying: "We are trying to engage with Cardiff and more news will come out on that in the future but hopefully we can get something done." ‌ The Welsh football legend's interest in Cardiff follows his ex-Real Madrid and Tottenham colleague Luka Modrić's becoming a co-owner of Swansea. Previously, there were whispers of Bale potentially investing in Plymouth Argyle, but that prospect seems to have fizzled out. Cardiff, who were recently demoted to League One for the first time since 2003, have now welcomed Brian Barry-Murphy as their new head coach. Bale, a towering figure in Welsh football, boasts a record 111 caps for his country and stands as the top scorer with 41 goals. His illustrious playing days included hoisting the Champions League trophy multiple times with Real Madrid and propelling Wales to two Euros and their first World Cup appearance since 1958. Now retired from the pitch, Bale is looking to leave a legacy beyond his playing career, potentially starting with Cardiff City, the place where his remarkable journey kicked off.

BBC faces major Glastonbury problem as headliner makes unusual demand

EXCLUSIVE: BBC bosses are risking a fallout with legendary rocker Neil Young, 79, just days before his Glastonbury gig over potential coverage of his performance on Saturday BBC bosses risk falling foul of rock legend Neil Young just days before his Glastonbury gig. The Heart of Gold singer, 79, is one of the biggest names on the bill but it is still unclear how much of his Saturday performance will be on TV. Young is still wrangling with the BBC about coverage. Insiders suspect he will agree to letting just a handful of songs go out on TV or BBC iPlayer. Whether they will be live or part of an edited highlights package is still unclear. A BBC schedule of live sets released to the public omits Neil Young, while mentioning headliners such as Charli xcx and Doechii who play other stages on Saturday. ‌ Bosses will have to tread carefully after the star pulled out of the festival earlier this year citing concerns about the BBC's 'corporate control'. He said in January: 'We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. ‌ "It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being.' A BBC spokeswoman said: 'We aim to bring audiences as many performances as possible from the Pyramid Stage, and our schedules and plans continue to be finalised, right up to and during the festival.' Young has made principled stands recently. He blocked his music from Spotify for two years, saying a podcaster on the platform had spread vaccine misinformation. This year, he has also refused to let Ticketmaster use dynamic pricing for his forthcoming tour. When Young played Glastonbury in 2009 only five songs were televised. Speaking at the time Mark Cooper, then executive producer of the BBC's Glastonbury coverage, said: 'Neil Young's career has been conducted on his own terms. 'They believe in the live event and retaining its mystery and that of their artist. They have decided to make one song available online over the weekend to give a flavour of his set. That's Rockin' in the Free World and that's their decision. ‌ "You probably won't find too many Neil Young performances available freely on TV or online.' Elsewhere in the Glastonbury controversy, Prime Minister Keir Starmer called for Kneecap to be pulled from the line-up. The band was due to perform in the 2025 festival, but the PM doesn't think it would be appropriate due to recent events. He made the statement after Kneecap member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh appeared in court as he was charged with a terror offence. The incident was relating to the musician allegedly displaying a flag and making remarks in support of the proscribed terrorist organisation Hezbollah at a concert in November last year. ‌ Liam Ó hAnnaidh goes by the stage name Mo Chara and was bailed until later in the summer, which means he is able to play at Glastonbury. The festival will kick off on June 25 up until June 30. When asked by The Sun if he thinks Kneecap should perform at the annual festival, Starmer said: "No, I don't. I think we need to come down really clearly on this. "I won't say too much, because there's a court case on, but I don't think that's appropriate." The band are scheduled to perform on the West Holts Stage on Saturday.
