'He will not': Texas A&M HC Mike Elko further states that star sophomore will only play WR
During last week's SEC media day appearance, Elko was asked about sophomore Terry Bussey, who made the full-time switch to wide receiver after entering the program as an elite five-star prospect with the ability to play at a high level on both sides of the ball. However, Elko, OC Collin Klein, and WR coach Holmon Wiggins agreed that wide receiver should be his permanent position, taking full advantage of his speed, quickness, and ability to separate in coverage.
However, that didn't stop one member of the media from asking if there was a possible chance Bussey would play both ways in certain packages, leading to Elko emphatically denying the possibility of all the reasons stated above. Still, Elko did not deny that Bussey could see time on defense down the line, but for this team, wide receiver is where he'll line up.
"He will not. His story has to start at wide receiver. That's not to take away of what he can do or that he won't ever be a two-way player, but we need him to impact the game on offense."
This is a strategic, healthy answer regarding a player with elite potential, and while he hasn't proven to be a similar prospect to former Colorado standout wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, sticking at wide receiver provides a solid path to stardom, especially in a system where he should thrive as the No. 2 or 3 receiving option for starting quarterback Marcel Reed.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock breaks down the quarterback competition
Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman met with the media yesterday, and on Friday it was offensive coordinator Mike Denbrocks's turn at the podium. In no surprise, he was asked about the quarterback competition between CJ Carr and Kenny Minchey, and proceeded to give us some insight on how he'll ultimately select who will be the starter against Miami. Denbrock wants to see 'how do they operate within the framework of the offensive scheme. Do they understand it? Do they know where their problems are? What can we do to help them? Making good decisions with the ball. Being a consistent guy, day in and day out, that the teammates can count on.' Denbrock wasn't too happy with the results yesterday, as he called it 'a little bumpy at times,' but didn't seem to be too worried do to the fact that neither of them have had a lot of live snaps under their belts. He wants them to experience some failure, as they can learn from their mistakes. He was happy to see both of them bouncing back after their errors, which shows that each of them aren't afraid to try and make plays. The race between Carr and Minchey looks like it will continue to go on for at least a few weeks until one separates from the other and a starter is named. Colorado transfer Colton Hood brings 'competitive\u00a0nature' to Tennessee
Colton Hood transferred from Colorado to Tennessee during the offseason on May 2. He entered the NCAA transfer portal on April 25. Hood has three years of eligibility remaining, including the 2025 season. The 6-foot, 195-pound redshirt sophomore cornerback played in seven games, including one start, in his only season at Colorado in 2024. He totaled 24 tackles, two interceptions and six pass deflections for the Buffaloes. Tennessee defensive coordinator Tim Banks discussed Hood ahead of fall training camp. "We're excited about Hood to say the least,' Banks said. 'I think it just starts with the process of getting to know him. He's extremely competitive. He's a kid who understands there is a process to everything that you do, and he's really working at it. I think he has fit in with our guys in our group. He's super hungry, but he's really smart. 'Like I said, just a competitive nature that he brings to the room. Obviously, he has to do it here at the University of Tennessee. Based on everything we have seen this summer, again, how he's fit in with everybody, I heard he has worked. We have no doubt that he will be able to help us in some capacity."
