The partnership will see Hertz selling some of its used cars on Amazon Autos. It means customers can search online to browse, finance, and buy thousands of used Hertz fleet vehicles from brands like Ford (F), Toyota (TM), and others. Hertz Car Sales, the rental car firm's used car sales arm, will be the first fleet dealer on Amazon Autos.
Buying Experience
Hertz Car Sales executive vice president Jeff Adams said he wanted to 'reimagine the car-buying experience.'
Hertz said sales will begin in the Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Seattle metro areas, with plans to expand to Hertz Car Sales' 45 locations nationwide. After customers complete their purchase online, they can pick up the vehicles at Hertz locations in those cities.
'This collaboration allows us to offer an expanded selection of well-maintained vehicles from more dealerships across the country,' Global Head of Amazon Autos, Fan Jin said.
Amazon's addition of Hertz vehicles is another huge move for its auto sales business. Last year, it struck a deal with Hyundai (HYMLF) to sell new vehicles in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Amazon users can buy and finance vehicles from local participating dealers directly on Amazon's website or app.
Good Hertz
Hertz has had a strong 2025 to date, with its share price surging over 50%. It has been helped by the uncertain economic environment as drivers look more closely at the used car market.
It has also expanded programs such as its popular Hertz Rent2Buy offering to more than 100 cities. Again, this is tapping into consumers increasingly embracing the 'try before you buy' approach.
In its latest earnings report for the second quarter of 2025, Hertz Global Holdings, Inc. announced significant improvements in profitability, marking its best quarterly results in nearly two years. The company highlighted a half-billion-dollar improvement in net income and adjusted corporate EBITDA, driven by strategic initiatives in fleet management, operational efficiency, and cost control.
Is HTZ a Good Stock to Buy Now?
On TipRanks, HTZ has a Moderate Sell consensus based on 4 Hold and 4 Sell ratings. Its highest price target is $6. HTZ stock's consensus price target is $4.30, implying a 21.53% downside.

PS5 prices might be rising in the U.S. — but Canadians can save $50 on the PlayStation 5 right now

The latest edition of the top-rated gaming console offers "incredible" graphics and a roughly 33 per cent size reduction. PS5 prices might be increasing in the U.S. amid the uncertainty of Donald Trump's tariffs, but Canadian gamers are in luck — the Sony console is currently on sale at Amazon Canada for $70 off. While Americans are facing a $50 USD price hike on all PlayStation 5 models as Sony calls out "a challenging economic environment," shoppers in Canada have the chance to snag an opposite offer. Right now, the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition Console is an Amazon's Choice deal that you won't want to miss. More than 600 Amazon shoppers have snagged one in the last month. To learn more and shop the deal, continue scrolling: Quick shop: This new, slimmer edition of the current-generation Sony console is an update to the original version released at the end of 2020. It still offers the same punch, but now it's all packed in a thinner size. Scroll down to see why shoppers are calling the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition Console a piece "true magic." The details One of the biggest draws of the updated PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition Console is that it offers all the same features — now in a slimmer system. What was once an arguably valid complaint of bulkiness has turned into a 33 per cent cut in size for the digital edition. The system originally launched in 2020 at 3.9 kg (8.6 lb), but the newest slim edition weighs 2.6 kg (5.7 lb). Another nice revision on this console is a slight storage bump. The original console only offered 825 GB of internal storage. This slim version now comes with 1 TB, letting gamers store even more of their favourite titles. It's a necessary storage boost if you'll be opting for the disc-less version of this console. While the PS5 featuring a disc drive isn't on sale at the moment, the all-digital experience of the hit gaming system is just as powerful and, most importantly, fun. (Hint: No more wrangling with changing discs between games and having towers of cases collecting dust in your living room corner). In terms of performance, the specifications are the same between these new slim consoles and those released five years ago. The slim edition, like the original, offers 4K video resolution at up to 120 frames per second. Plus, you're able to play a backlog of any supported PlayStation 4 games. What reviewers are saying 🛍️ 1,600+ reviews ⭐️ 4.6-star average rating 🎮 Gamers say the "graphics are stunning" and it's "the best console there is" Graphics are, of course, one of the top things you want to be high quality when it comes to gaming — and shoppers say the PlayStation 5 Slim Digital Edition Console offers "incredible" and "stunning" images. One person even called it the "best console there is." Other buyers say this new system has "super fast load times" when it comes to starting up games, which is an important factor to think about when you're hoping to play the best, graphically demanding titles. A few gamers also mentioned how "quiet" the console is, and that it's hard to tell it's even powered on. Still, one con people mentioned is that the system doesn't offer Bluetooth audio capabilities, meaning you won't be able to connect a pair of Apple AirPods while gaming (but corded headphones do work). Others have also called out that the wireless controller's battery life "doesn't seem super fantastic," but that could be because it has so many features. The verdict When it comes to gaming, it's hard to beat a system like the PS5 at the moment. Coming with top-notch graphics and the ability to show off video in 4K at up to 120 frames per second, you're bound to be transported to new worlds when booting up this console. As the back-to-school season gets underway, now is one of the best times of the year to scoop up this console — especially as Canadians seem to (for now) be exempt from a Trump-induced tariff price hike. Shop the console for $70 off, bringing the price down to $510. More PS5 deals on Amazon: Accessories, games & more

Walmart disappoints Wall Street in one crucial way

Walmart is the world's biggest brick-and-mortar retailer, and it's quickly challenging Amazon for the e-commerce crown. The 62-year-old retail chain disrupted the retail store landscape decades ago, drawing criticism for its superstores, which forced mom-and-pop stores out of business with their hard-to-beat prices. Nowadays, Walmart operates over 10,000 stores worldwide, including about 600 Sam's Club warehouse stores and a fast-growing online marketplace. Those operations haul in hundreds of billions of dollars annually, including $177.4 billion in the second quarter alone. That's impressive, but not everyone is singing praises over Walmart's second-quarter financials. 10,750 in 19 countries. Fiscal year 2025 revenue of $681 billion.2.1 million employees worldwide. Revenue: $177.4 billion, up 4.8%Operating income: $7.3 billion, down 8.2%Gross profit margin: 24.5%, up slightly from 24.4% one year earnings per share: 68 cents up one cent year over year. Walmart has largely penetrated most major markets in the United States with its traditional brick-and-mortar locations. As a result, it has become the go-to place to shop for customers on a budget. Due to inflation, that's an increasingly larger and diverse customer base. Since Covid, consumer inflation has increased prices by nearly 25%, meaning you'd need to spend $1.25 to buy the item that only cost you $1 in 2020. Inflation pressure hasn't been Walmart's only tailwind, though. It's also benefited from missteps at one of its major rivals, Target. Related: Target visits keep falling in 2025 while Walmart traffic grows Target has been the subject of controversy and boycotts, including in February and March of 2025, because it decided to roll back DEI programs. Previously, Target also suffered from boycotts related to its decisions regarding its 2023 Pride collection, which drew criticism for including children's clothing. The combination of cost-conscious shoppers and Target's stumbles helped drive revenue nearly 5% higher in the second quarter. "We gained market share in the U.S. and across markets internationally," said Walmart CEO Doug McMillon on the company's earnings conference call. Walmart also benefited from increasing e-commerce sales, which rose 25% from the second quarter of 2024. "Walmart U.S. e-commerce profitability continued to increase in Q2 as we make progress on improving net delivery costs and see strong momentum in advertising," said Walmart CFO John David Rainey. Walmart's comparable sales growth at stores open at least one year was 4.6% in Q2, up from 4.2% one year ago. Transactions rose 1.5%, down from 3.6% last year, while average ticket, or the amount spent per transaction, rose 3.1%, up from 0.6%. For perspective, Target reported a 1.9% comparable sales decline and an online sales growth of only 4.3% in the quarter. Walmart's average ticket growth was partly due to inflation and passing along higher costs associated with tariffs, which increased Walmart's import costs. Image source:The top-line revenue figure was $3 billion, better than Wall Street expected; however, one-time adjustments weighed down the company's earnings per share. The company reported EPS of 68 cents, shy of analysts' 74-cent estimates. "Adjusted operating income grew 0.4% in constant currency," said McMillon. "This is below what we expected going into the quarter as we absorbed a headwind of 560 basis points for the expenses related to general liability claims in the U.S." Revenue: Up 3.75% to 4.75%.Operating income: Up 3.5% to 5.5%Adjusted EPS: $2.52 to $2.62. The sales guidance was increased from 3% to 4%, which is bullish. However, operating income growth guidance was unchanged, and the company's EPS outlook is shy of the analysts' consensus $2.63 estimate. The company's push into e-commerce is encouraging, and it's beating rival Target regarding sales growth. However, long-time Wall Street analyst Stephen Guilfoyle is unimpressed by the company's finances. More Retail Stocks: Kroger brings back paper coupons in a new wayTarget's customers walked away; How it plans to win them backAmazon analysts turn heads with surprising take on grocery plan "Walmart ended the quarter with a cash position of $9.431 billion and inventories of $57.729 billion. That puts current assets at $82.033 billion. Current liabilities add up to $103.566 billion, including $7.848 billion in shorter-term debt," wrote Guilfoyle on TheStreet Pro. "This leaves the firm with a very disappointing current ratio of 0.79, down from 0.82 six months ago." A current ratio is a liquidity measure based on current assets divided by current liabilities. Retailers typically have lower current ratios than other industries, but generally, analysts like to see companies boast a current ratio above 1. In Guilfoyle's case, he hoped for an improvement in the ratio, not a deterioration. "When a firm has just $9.4 billion in cash and has more than $7.8 billion in debt due in less than 12 months, I find it just incredible that the firm would spend $6.2 billion on share repurchases over six months, knowing it had to pay shareholders almost $3.8 billion in cash over that same time frame," wrote Guilfoyle on TheStreet Pro. "They could have bought back fewer shares and reduced that debt load." Guilfoyle notes that total debt rose by $4.42 billion in the past six months despite Walmart's sales growth and strong cash flows. "What the actual hockey puck is that? Hello! McFly? Is anybody home? Hey, Rainey, instead of appearing on CNBC, manage your cash flows and improve your balance sheet. Do better," chided Guilfoyle. As for whether or not Walmart stock is a buy, Guilfoyle didn't pull any punches. "I'll still shop there. That will be the extent of our relationship," said Guilfoyle. ‘Sell Instacart Stock Now,' Says Five-Star Analyst

Grocery delivery firm Instacart (CART), also known as Maplebear, is facing growing challenges as Amazon (AMZN) aggressively expands its own grocery services. With Prime becoming more attractive to budget-conscious grocery shoppers, Amazon's same-day delivery for perishable items is directly threatening Instacart's niche. While Instacart has shown solid gross transaction value (GTV) growth and improving margins, it's steadily losing market share to other platforms like DoorDash (DASH) and Uber (UBER). Because of these risks, five-star Wedbush analyst Scott Devitt downgraded Instacart from Hold to Sell and reduced his price target by 24%, bringing it down to $42. Elevate Your Investing Strategy: Take advantage of TipRanks Premium at 50% off! Unlock powerful investing tools, advanced data, and expert analyst insights to help you invest with confidence. He pointed out that Amazon's entry into same-day grocery delivery not only encroaches on Instacart's market but also adds more value for existing Prime members, which makes it harder for Instacart to stand out. Devitt also warned that Instacart's narrow focus and limited offerings make it vulnerable to competitors with larger product ecosystems. Indeed, since around 60% of Instacart's GTV comes from members, any shift toward more appealing subscription services from rivals could hurt its growth and user retention. Looking ahead, Devitt believes that investors will begin questioning Instacart's future growth potential. He argued that current Wall Street expectations for GTV growth may not factor in the increasing pressure from competitors. As a result, he now expects GTV to grow at a slower pace (mid- to low-single digits) compared to the higher growth rates previously forecast. Devitt also adjusted his estimates downward by reducing Q4 GTV and adjusted EBITDA by 1% and 2%, respectively. In addition, for full-year 2026, he cut his GTV growth projection to 7.1% (200 basis points lower than before) and trimmed his EBITDA forecast by 3% to $1.2 billion. Is CART Stock a Good Buy Turning to Wall Street, analysts have a Moderate Buy consensus rating on CART stock based on 14 Buys, six Holds, and one Sell assigned in the past three months, as indicated by the graphic below. Furthermore, the average CART price target of $59.32 per share implies 33.8% upside potential.
