Madonna Scores A Milestone New Win On The Dance Chart

Forbesa day ago
Madonna's new album Veronica Electronica isn't a traditional studio full-length, but rather a stopgap project meant to tide fans over while they wait for another collection. The set is built around remixes from her Ray of Light era, one of her most successful and critically acclaimed periods. Veronica Electronica only debuts on one U.S. chart this week, but it's not just another entry for the pop and dance icon — it's a milestone win.
Veronica Electronica Opens on the Dance Chart
Madonna launches Veronica Electronica solely on the Top Dance Albums chart, which measures the most consumed projects in that style by combining sales and streaming activity. The project barely makes it to the 25-spot tally, opening in last place, at No. 25.
Madonna Earns a Tenth Career Dance Albums Hit
Veronica Electronica is Madonna's milestone tenth title to reach the dance albums chart. She first landed on the list almost exactly 20 years ago, when Confessions on a Dance Floor appeared in November 2005. That Grammy-winning effort went on to spend 13 weeks at No. 1, and it remains her longest-running champion. The set has spent 102 weeks somewhere on the roster, and it is her only triple-digit week charter.
Half of Madonna's Dance Albums Have Reached No. 1
Throughout her career, Madonna has reached the top 10 on the dance albums chart six times, and half of those projects have hit No. 1. In addition to Confessions on a Dance Floor, both MDNA and Finally Enough Love — another recent remix set — have also ruled.
Veronica Electronica Is Madonna's Second Debut of 2025
Veronica Electronica marks Madonna's second debut on the Top Dance Albums ranking in 2025 alone. Back in January, The Immaculate Collection, her 1990 greatest hits set, arrived on the tally. The following week, it soared to No. 8, reaching its all-time high, and since then, the collection has spent 30 weeks somewhere on the ranking.
Madonna Charts Two Dance Albums in the Same Week
This week, Madonna fills two spaces on the dance albums list. As Veronica Electronica starts at No. 25 and The Immaculate Collection lifts from No. 13 to No. 11, almost cracking the highest tier once more.
'Gone Gone Gone' From the Ray of Light Sessions
The only new addition to Veronica Electronica is 'Gone Gone Gone,' an unreleased track from the Ray of Light sessions that has circulated among fans online for years in demo form. Originally recorded in 1997 with producer William Orbit, the song blends the spiritual, atmospheric production that defined that era with a darker, more urgent rhythm. That cut became a quick bestseller a short time ago on the dance lists, and it is powering the quick adoption of the remix set.
Madonna Revisits Ray of Light
Veronica Electronica revisits the Ray of Light era, and it draws from one of the most celebrated periods in Madonna's career. Released in 1998, Ray of Light produced a string of hits, including 'Frozen,' 'The Power of Good-Bye,' 'Nothing Really Matters,' and the title track, all of which reached charts around the world. The album topped tallies in more than a dozen countries, peaked at No. 2 in the U.S., and won multiple Grammy Awards.

Sophie Turner Hit Back At Someone Who Suggested She'd 'Forgotten' About Her Kids Because She Went To A Concert With A Friend, And Her Response Is Perfect

Last week, Sophie Turner shared a bunch of photos and videos of herself living her best life at an Oasis concert with a friend. But sadly, one internet user took Sophie's post as an opportunity to mom-shame her, questioning why she wasn't with her kids. Related: As you might know, Sophie shares two young daughters with her ex-husband, Joe Jonas. And while their 2023 split was initially incredibly messy, the pair appear to be on good terms now, and have talked openly about coparenting between the UK, where she is from, and the US, where he is from. Last year, Sophie admitted that she 'hates' being alone at her house while her kids are with Joe, describing her loneliness as 'absolute agony' during a chat with Harper's Bazaar. In the same interview, Sophie told the outlet, 'I want [my kids] to see me having a social life and enjoying work and thriving in my career and relationships. I'll come back and say, 'This is why Mummy was away – it's because she's doing this for you, so Father Christmas can come with a big bundle of presents.'' Related: And so, it's perhaps unsurprising that Sophie was so quick to hit back at the Instagram user who mom-shamed her under her Oasis post. The user wrote, 'lmfao i think she has forgotten that she has two kids,' to which Sophie replied, 'ah I'm so sorry sometimes I forget some people can't think for themselves. So…. Get this….There's this crazy thing called shared custody. Maybe, just maybe, they were with their dad that day.' Sophie has since been flooded with support from infuriated fans who are calling out the double standards around expectations from mothers compared to fathers. 'I'm sure no one is commenting on the Jonas accounts wondering why he isn't with his kids,' one user wrote. 'Yet no one comments 'I think he has forgotten he has 2 kids' under Joe's posts. Double standards in 2025 is crazy,' another person echoed. Related: 'no one gives a fuck if men piss off for milk and never come back but a woman does a single thing except be a walking breathing incubator and robot that just follows her kids around she's the worst mother in the world,' someone said, while another simply added, 'Mom's truly can't win.' 'ppl gotta ease up! Moms can't do it 'right' no matter wtf they do these days,' one comment said. Someone questioned, 'Are moms not allowed to have friends and take pictures without their kids?' Another user asked, 'Do people not realize that parents have lives outside of their children?' Meanwhile, one more person added, 'The fact that it's a woman doing the shaming makes it so much more heartbreaking to read.' Related: Indeed, it is so, SO exhausting to see mothers get these types of comments in 2025. Let us know what you think down below. Paramount Nabs UFC Rights in Major $7.7 Billion Deal, MMA Events to Peel Off From ESPN in 2026

David Ellison, the new CEO of Paramount, pinned a major new deal for the media company he's taken over. Paramount Skydance on Monday announced a seven-year media rights agreement with TKO Group under which Paramount+ will become the exclusive home of all UFC events in the U.S. — pulling the mixed martial arts events from ESPN. Disney's ESPN had secured a deal that, starting in 2019, featured the MMA promoter's matchups on TV and pay-per-view in ESPN+. The contract's payment schedule is 'weighted more toward the back end of the deal,' according to the companies. Starting in 2026, Paramount will exclusively distribute UFC's full slate of 13 annual marquee numbered events and 30 Fight Nights via the Paramount+ streaming platform. Select numbered UFC events will be simulcast on CBS, according to the companies. As part of the agreement, UFC and Paramount will move away from UFC's existing pay-per-view model — and instead, the events will be available at no additional cost to Paramount+'s U.S. subscribers. This shift in distribution strategy 'will unlock greater accessibility and discoverability for sports fans and provide an important catalyst for driving engagement and further subscriber growth for Paramount+,' Paramount said. Paramount said it plans to explore acquiring UFC rights outside the U.S. as they become available in the future. 'I couldn't be more excited to join forces with Dana, Ari, and Mark,' Ellison said in a statement, referring to UFC CEO Dana White, TKO Group chief Ari Emanuel and Mark Shapiro, TKO's president and COO. Ellison continued, 'Rarely do opportunities arise to partner on an exclusive basis with a global sports powerhouse like UFC — an organization with extraordinary global recognition, scale, and cultural impact. Paramount's advantage lies in the expansive reach of our linear and streaming platforms. Live sports continue to be a cornerstone of our broader strategy — driving engagement, subscriber growth, and long-term loyalty, and the addition of UFC's year-round must-watch events to our platforms is a major win. We look forward to delivering this premium content to millions of fans in the U.S., and potentially beyond.' Emanuel, executive chair and CEO of TKO, said in a statement, 'This is a milestone moment and landmark deal for UFC, solidifying its position as a preeminent global sports asset. Our decade-long journey with UFC has been defined by continuous growth and expansion, and this agreement is an important realization of our strategy. We believe wholeheartedly in David's vision and look forward to being in business with a company that will prioritize technology as a means to enhance storytelling and the overall viewing experience.' Paramount Buys UFC Rights for $7.7 Billion to Boost Streaming

Paramount has acquired the exclusive rights to show all events from the Ultimate Fighting Championship in the US over the next seven years, the companies announced Monday, a $7.7 billion deal designed to boost the Paramount+ streaming service. Paramount will offer the UFC's 13 marquee events and 30 additional fight nights on its streaming service, while also showing select events on the CBS broadcast network, starting next year. UFC's marquee events are typically numbered and feature title matches with top fighters, while fight nights usually involve up-and-comers or less prominent matchups.
