Justin Baldoni's legal team hit back at 'foot-stomping' Blake Lively
The former Gossip Girl star is suing her It Ends With Us co-star and director for sexual harassment and retaliation and after she filed a motion requesting her deposition takes place in her own lawyer's office to prevent potential paparazzi attention if she went to Justin's attorney's office, his side have hit back in their response to the request.
According to TMZ, Justin and his team argued Blake had provided no evidence to back her point and insisted it couldn't be an issue of cost as the two offices are only around a mile apart.
The lawyers also claimed moving the deposition away from their own offices would put them at a disadvantage because they will need to consult with hundreds of pages of notes and may need a separate conference room for private discussions during the meeting.
The response ended: "Although Lively's foot-stomping and use of her celebrity status may have enabled her to seize control of the film, which is the crux of this dispute, her counsel's tantrum has no place in this Court. Lively is bound by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure like every litigant..."
Blake's request came after a lawyer for Justin - whose counterclaims against Blake and her husband Ryan Reynolds for extortion and defamation were dismissed last month - previously said he wanted the deposition to be taken in public for people to see.
Attorney Bryan Freedman told People magazine in May: 'Hold the deposition at MSG, sell tickets or stream it, and donate every dollar to organizations helping victims of domestic abuse."
Following the court filing, Blake's representatives hit out at the 41-year-old actor's team.
They told People magazine: 'Ms. Lively is looking forward to her deposition next week, and it should follow the same rules as every other witness in this case.
'Justin Baldoni's lawyer has tried to make this matter a public spectacle at every turn, even proposing to sell tickets to a televised deposition at Madison Square Garden,.
"This is a serious matter of sexual harassment and retaliation and it deserves to be treated as such.'
The new filing revealed Blake, 37, asked the judge to block Justin and his team from selecting where the deposition takes place.
Her lawyers wrote: "[Baldoni's team have] not denied that their intent is to manufacture a harassing publicity stunt by requiring Ms. Lively to parade through paparazzi, or by inviting unknown attendees to the deposition, including members of the media or social media influencers, or any other number of abusive tactics.
'Since virtually the inception of this litigation, Defendants have used even the prospect of Ms. Lively's deposition to generate press interest.
'The high-profile nature of this litigation, and the nature of Ms. Lively's retaliation claims, demonstrates a substantial risk of the deposition turning into a publicity event and potentially attracting interested individuals who could pose security risks."
The Another Simple Favor star's lawyers insisted the filing was a "reasonable request to prevent the risk of annoyance, harassment, and verbal or physical threats," and alleged Justin's team 'appear to seek another public relations moment, or to create conditions for intimidation or harassment.'
A trial is set to take place in March 2026.

Ratatouille star Patton Oswalt addresses possible remake
Patton Oswalt would sign on to a live-action remake of Ratatouille 'in a second'. The 56-year-old actor starred as the rodent chef Remy in Pixar's beloved 2007 animated movie, and Oswalt has now revealed he would return for a Ratatouille remake - so long as director Brad Bird was at the helm again. When TMZ asked The King of Queens actor if he was open to voicing Remy again in another Ratatouille film, he said: 'If Brad Bird came up with a great idea to do it, I would do it in a second. 'But, that's up to him. Yeah, to get to work with Brad Bird [again] would be great.' Oswalt was also quizzed on whether he thought Ratatouille was one of the best Disney-Pixar movies, but the actor insisted 'that's for the viewers to decide'. He added: 'I mean, I had a blast doing it, but I don't think I get to make that ranking.' Ratatouille follows a rat named Remy (Oswalt) who dreams of becoming a chef and teams up with shy garbage boy Linguini (Lou Romano) to cook in a famous Parisian restaurant once run by the late Auguste Gusteau (Brad Garrett). As they navigate sabotage from head chef Skinner (Ian Holm) and win over food critic Anton Ego (Peter O'Toole), their unlikely partnership changes the kitchen forever. This comes after it was rumoured another Ratatouille movie was in early development at Pixar, though the project has not been confirmed by the studio or Bird. Bird returning for a sequel or remake of Ratatouille isn't out of the realm of possibility, as the 67-year-old director helmed the 2018 follow-up to his 2004 animated superhero flick, The Incredibles. The filmmaker is also set to return for The Incredibles 3, though will only serve as a producer and writer for the movie, while Peter Sohn, 47, gets into the directing chair. Sohn - who directed other Pixar movies like Elemental and starred in Ratatouille as Remy's brother Emile - said being chosen to helm The Incredibles 3 was 'a dream come true'. He was quoted by Variety as saying about working with Pixar on the third Incredibles movie: 'I've always loved this family and what they represent - the messy, funny, heroic chaos of everyday life. To help tell their next chapter is a true honour.' While the cast of The Incredibles 3 hasn't been confirmed yet, it's almost certain Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter will return as Bob and Helen Parr, AKA Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. Following the announcement of The Incredibles 3 at Disney's D23 showcase in August 2024, Pixar boss Pete Docter teased Bird was hard at work on the upcoming movie. The studio chief told Fandango: 'Brad is an amazing collaborator. He's so fiery and passionate. Different people work in different ways. He's a guy who needs a little more time to build up the steam to get the passion and the power going. 'I think we're at that point now. And we're not sharing any details right now, because it's still pretty malleable in terms of what the story is actually about.'

Rihanna reveals how late father Ronald Fenty inspired her to raise sons
Rihanna is raising her children to be "outside and in nature", in tribute to her late father. The 37-year-old singer - who has sons RZA, three, and Riot, 23 months, with her partner A$AP Rocky, and they have another child on the way - lost her dad, Ronald Fenty, on May 30 aged 70, but she has thanked her late parent for "preparing" her to have two sons. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at The Smurfs premiere in Los Angeles, she said: "I've always dreamed of what type of grandfather he would be to them, because of the favourite parts of my dad. "It prepared me for having two boys, really. "The adventurous side of me, the outside side of me, the daredevil - it's how I want to raise them. "I want them to be outside and in nature. No tablet babies." Rihanna admitted the best part of her childhood was exploring outdoors "barefoot and free". She added: "That was the funnest part of my life and my childhood, running around outside barefoot and free. "You don't get to do that anymore." It was recently revealed Rihanna's father died of cancer and other serious illnesses. According to a death certificate obtained by TMZ, Ronald's death certificate listed acute respiratory failure, pancreatic cancer and aspiration pneumonia - a bacterial lung infection - as well as two kidney conditions, acute renal failure and acute tubular necrosis. Rihanna had endured a rocky relationship with her father when she was growing up, and was at the centre of a public battle with him when he spoke to the press after she was assaulted by then-boyfriend Chris Brown in 2009. However, the in the years that followed, she noted that she had "repaired" her relationship with her father and had to learn to "come to terms" with things that had gone in in the past. She told Oprah Winfrey: "He taught me everything, and as awful as he was to my mom, at times, it didn't compare to how great he was as a father. "And I had to come to terms with that, and I was able to close that gap with him."

Hugh Jackman's ex Deborra-Lee Furness 'ready to start dating' after divorce
Deborra-Lee Furness is reportedly being encouraged to "start dating again". The 69-year-old actress - whose divorce from Hollywood star Hugh Jackman was finalised last month - is said to be open to finding love again, but she's not rushing into another relationship. A source told Woman's Day magazine: "Deb is finally starting to heal and talk about what she wants in her life going forward. "She's got an incredible support system that's been there every step of the way, helping her to pick up the pieces of her life. "They are encouraging her to start dating again." It's said while Deborra-Lee has been getting offers from some "incredible guys", she won't be tempted to settle. The source added: "She knows what she brings to the table." Deborra-Lee and Hugh split in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage, but she only filed for divorce in May, and it was signed off by a judge a few weeks ago. According to PEOPLE magazine, online court records from New York's Suffolk County Supreme Court show that a judgment of divorce was filed on June 12, and later uploaded to the website on June 23, with the case not listed as 'Disposed'. When Deborra-Lee filed for divorce from the 56-year-old actor, she indicated the terms were uncontested and would only need a sign-off from a judge. It was revealed days after the filing that the pair had begun to separate their shared assets. The former couple met on the set of the Australian TV series Correlli in 1995 and married on 11 April 1996. They adopted their son, Oscar, now 24, in 2000, and their daughter, Ava, 19, in 2005. In September 2023, they confirmed their separation in a joint statement shared with People, saying: 'Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. "We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. 'Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.' In May, Deborra-Lee issued a separate statement discussing the emotional impact of the split. She said: 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal. It's a profound wound that cuts deep.' Deborra added: 'However, I believe in a higher power and that God or the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working for us. 'That belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.' According to The Daily Mail, a source claimed Hugh was 'blindsided' by Deborra's comments and 'extremely disappointed', alleging there had been 'an unwritten understanding that she would not trash him to the press'.
